In terms of food, eh? Must be fun to write in first person. XD And yes, names rock. I love thinking up good 'uns for my characters. (I usually use 20000-names.com, because...well...they've got 20,000 names.)

What I don't really like about making up my own is that I always make them just because I like the way that name sounds. There's never any real meaning behind the names I make, only syllables that have been arranged to sound pretty. I like having meanings to the names, though they often don't fit the personality of a character. (I think that's good, though--if someone knows what a name means, they'll already know about that character, which can be really boring sometimes.)

Ahhaahh.... I understand. Well, looking up "Suka" in a Japanese dictionary got me "a Rhapsody or melody"
I think it's cool, personally!

~Because Daybreak is bored, she is not only speaking in third person, but posting the specs for Dylan, who will be a central player if she ever decides to jumpstart her Bad Seeds roleplay. Thank you for your time~
Name: Dylan Angle (pronounced Die-lan, not Dill-an)
Nickname: Dy, Dilly-boy (Note: it is probably unwise to call him that if you don't happen to be Daybreak...)
Race: Dark Angel (an extinct race in modern times. The three breeds of Angels - Light, Dark, and Russet - were wrongly named. They are not heavenly creatures, but mortal creatures closely related to the fae and humans.)
Age: Appears to be in his early to mid twenties. See history for information on his actual age.
Appearance: He looks like a human male with messy black shoulder-length hair, calm black eyes, and an honost face. His skin is quite fair, but not pale. He is of medium height, and well-built, especially in his chest and shoulders. He dresses plainly, only wearing a pair of heavy, wood-colored pants, scruffy boots and usually a loose, light-colored shirt. He also appears to have a cloak of black feathers hanging from his shoulders, but to those he trusts he reveals it to be a pair of powerful wings, the same shade as his hair.
Those who look carefully can tell that he has the pinched, unhealthy look of someone was once very ill and has never quite recovered. He is almost never seen travelling without his weapon - a formidable war-axe with a blade on each end. His last, most treasured possession is on a thin thong about his neck. It is a small vial that seems to contain blood, but a sensitive individual can feel the power it emits around the concealment spell.
History: In ancient times a great war between the gods was carried out using mortal vessels. The fighting was feirce and brutal, and dragged on for years - perhaps hundreds of them - before the two sides destroyed eachother. In this, most of the great number of species who had participated in the war were wiped out. The gods looked at the land and saw it ruined by war, and poisoned by magic, and regretted the violent conflict they had caused. And so they sacraficed themselves to renew the land, giving their reign over to new gods.
This new land knew nothing of the war that had caused its creation, and eventually became the Earth we know today. However, the old gods had salvaged one soul from the old war - a young general from one of the armies. They granted him immortality, and bade him walk the Earth to remind the new gods of the folly of cosmic wars. This was Dylan.
He has not been travelling the world constantly since that time because he is occasionally sealed away inside the Earth when there is no need of him. He is therefore cursed to never know peaceful times, only times of war and suffering. He has become an expert collecter and weaver of tales in the hopes that he may influence the mortals as well as the gods.
Abilities: Flight, detailed knowledge of history and dead languages, connections, extensive combat skills, and some magic. Like most of his kind, he is only able to learn spells in the same manner humans can - he has no magic specific to his race.
Personality: Dylan has a demeanor ill-suited to war. He is patient and kind, and often considered something of a charmer by the ladies. If presented with a conflict, he prefers to solve it with as little violence as possible, but he never hesitates to defend himself or others when the situation gets out of hand. He lacks his race's usual short temper and anti-social tendencies, but he does have the iron will of a Dark Angel. He will help anyone who needs it, no questions asked, and he has an undying faith in humanity. And inhumanity, for that matter.
Weaknesses: His trust in people blinds him and can make him an easy target for betrayal. He often can't admit to himself when someone is lying or being purposefully true, even if he knows it's true. The long years he has spent living have taken their tole - his memory fails him at times, and he cannot always handle the grief he feels from the loss of the friends he outlived. The strain on both his mind and his physical body is great, and sometimes causes problems.

Ooh! Ooh! I shall post Viktor. I'll have to adapt him a touch, though...
Name: Viktor. (He has no last name that he can recall, and nore does he care.) Race: (Used to be human) Mechanical Zombie. Expanation of name: Quote: ...'Cuz 'K's are SO much COOLER than 'C's! ^^ Description/Appearance: Viktor is seven foot two with a shock of bright blue hair that mainly falls over his eyes, and sticks out at odd angles. He skin is a greyish blue pallor, and he has only one eye. His right has been replaced by a large, dark blue button, which also obscures most of the right half of his face, while his left pupil is a tiny pinhole, that darts frantically about, regardless of how outwardly calm he is. His movements are awkward and birdlike, and he has the ability to bend his arms and legs into unnatural contortions, owing to his 'unique' (some would say freakish) skeletal structure. His right hand is a robotic claw, (which he is known to get stuck in odd things, like trees and walls) while hs left has the appearance of a large glove, and has the tendancy to fall off. His feet are mismatched, his left resembling that of a blue dragon, and his righ a mechanical human foot, encased in a metallic boot, which causes him to limp a as he walks, and that, coupled with his poor posture and lack of balance, makes his movements, as well as agitated, seem somewhat drunken, although he seems completely unaware of this, as well. Example of movement type: Try walking on uneven stilts with a lead weight attached to the shorter one.
He is fully unaware of how very, very dead he is, and at odd moments, usually inconveniant ones, he adopts a strong russian accent, and claims to be "Petrovich Gregovich, the Great Russian Spy". He ha an irrational fear of alarm clocks, and believes that the infestation of 'the minions of tempus' may be cured by dousing them in custard. Has a fixation on butterflies, and enjoys chasing squirrels, and other such small furry things.
Well... That about covers it, methinks. Whaddya think?

Viktor's freaking awesome! I want to draw him!
Right, I'm not RPing or anything, just thought I'd mention. 7'2?
Heh. When I read that, my immediate thought was to see him standing over my tallest character(Elda, 6'4).
I could just see him looking at her curiously. Elda: *sweatdrop*
Feel free to give more....educated comments.

Name: Taimatsu (Japanese word for 'torch')
Gender: Male (technically)
Species: forest imp
Height: six inches at shoulder (standing), 18 inches from nose to tail
Weight: eight pounds
Appearance: vaguely cat-like, forest imps are small, four-legged animals. They have a long, foxlike tail, a pair of horns, large ears, wide eyes, and soft fur. Tai's fur is jet-black with fire-red facial stripes. The tip of his tail his also red, as well as a small tuft on his head, and a single stripe across his back. He wears the usual imp attire: two horn guards, two arm bands, and a neck chain with a charm. All of these are impossible to remove, except by the imp wearing them, and then only by their own free will (i.e. hypnosis won't work). The neck charm is especially important, as it is the source of all the imp's powers.
Powers and abilities: Forest imps have the ability to change shape and colour instantaneously. They can turn into anything they can imagine with practise, and can even become a different substance: metal, gas, liquid, whatever. Partial transformations are also possible (for example, sprouting wings, or turning one leg into a useful tool, while the rest remains normal). They also have limited other abilities that stem from this--in other words, they can gain abilities as well as the form when shapeshifting. They're also completely indestructible by outside forces (including indirect things, and are also immune to disease and most poisons). They can only be harmed by themselves--or an exact copy of themselves, oddly. However, as long as they're wearing their charm, they cannot be killed (except by old age), and even a copy can't remove it. The charm itself has no specific abilities, however, and only works for the imp born with it. Imps do have one non-magic power: adorable-ness. They can cute their way out of anything using their natural charms. It works on pheremones, so anyone with a sense of compassion or appreciation for beauty will think they're adorable, and thusly often be able to get their own way.
Weaknesses: A forest imp's greatest weakness is their insatiable sweet-tooth, particularly for pudding. An imp will do anything if sweets and candy is involved, and can usually be lured into a trap or enticed into betrayal or divulging secrets with a promise of sugar. However, if they do not receive said sugar, they can invoke very dark magics. They ARE minor demons, after all. Imps also rarely have a sense of seriousness about them, being a mischievous race. They'd much rather pull a prank than do any actual work. Also, they cannot go long without wreaking some sort of havoc (although there is never anything malicious in their intent). Lastly, the neck charm they wear is the source of their powers. On the off chance it's removed, the imp can be harmed and cannot change shape.
Other interesting notes: Along with the shape-changing, imps can change size at will, and their strength grows proportionally. However, since mass doesn't change with size, Tai will never weigh any more or less than eight pounds, no matter whether he's the size of a grain of sand or the size of Montana. Imps also need food regularly on a 6-hour basis. Since they are so magical, they burn energy very fast and are generally very hyper when well fed. The less food they get, the more lethargic they become. Their metabolism instantly converts food into energy when they eat, so imps never need to use the restroom (unless they decide otherwise).

Name: Melody Rose Moonshadow
Nicknames: Mel, Melly, Rosey(only her brother calls her that, anyone else who does will likly be ignored or slapped)
Race: Fairy
Age:532 years old (approxiametly 18)
Family: Mother, Dusk; Father, Grey: Twin brother, Kiva
Personality: she is usually very kind to others, however, since the attack on her village, she has become very untrusting of strangers, particularly elves. she is very serious, but will laugh at herself when she makes a foolish mistake. once a person becomes her friend, she is feircly loyal, and will protect them with her life. She is headstrong, and refuses to acknowledge her limits when comes to her magic, especially now that her twin brother is no longer arround to tell her when to stop or slow down.
Appearence: she has violet eyes, the shade of which depends in her mood (ex. mad=dark violet, happy= light violet), wavy black hair down to the middle of her back, very slightly pointed ears, is approxiametly 5' 7", willowy build, large iridescant dragonfly wings that collapse against her back when she is relaxed(like a cape), and often wears a knee-length light purple dress with pockets spelled to carry a number of objects, including, but not limited to, blankets, clothes, hair ribbons, and extra food.
Abilities: can change into any animal she wishes, and has limited control over the element of water, can fly, scrying, read minds (however, once a person becomes her friend, Melly respects their privacy and stays out of their mind at all costs. this can lead to complete surprise if she is double crossed)
History: Melly was a fairly happy young fairy who was learning to gain complete control over her element when her village was suddenly attacked. when she was looking for her parents, she was attacked by an elf named Tohya. while he was explaining to her her choices (join his boss, or die) his partner, the black dragon Blackdeath kipnapped her brother while he was going to find the other villagers. After Melody saw the dragon fly off with her brother, she turned on the elf. hitting him with an energy ball, she ended up fainting from useing up to much energy. (we still don't know why they attacked her village, or what she did with Tohya) upon emerging from her coma a week later, she immediatly went hunting for her brother. upon finding that she couldn't scry him, she sought out the help of two wolf demons that she had made friends with to help her find Artu, the wolf demon that her brother had been taken to. right now, she has been seperated from her companions and is looking for any leads to them or to Artu
Companions: right now, she is accompanied by a small night dragon named Coal (ok, so i really like Coal ^_^) whose abilities are unknown. she is about the size of cat and flies above melodys head or walks beside her( there is pic of Coal in her fav. form on Samrick's Shindig thread, but she can alter her form to have feet (i just can't draw them well))
edit* if Melly's history seems confusing, the history of the attack on her village is in the creative writing topic under treacherous waters. it is the prolouge of my book, and where Melody came from.

Post by Shadow on Jan 10, 2006 19:00:38 GMT -5
Guess this is where I would post my character. Please tell me what you think of her. I thought her up before even hearing about the CtV forum.
Name:Unknown
Nicknames: Goes by "Shadow" most of the time. When trying to blend in with humans, she usually goes by "Ombres Shady," Ombres being shadow in French.
Race: Used to be human, now is a shadow (hence the nickname)
Age: If you value your mind, you won't ask
Apperance: She can shapeshift when in pure shadow form. She has some basic ones she uses baced on mood. The similarities between al of her forms are that they lack shadows. 3-D Shadow:Pretty much a perpetual 21 year old woman, with a body that would seduce every male on the planet (She into the style of "Lust"). Perfect figure, makes Barbie dolls look ugly, very much human looking. What makes her stand out in a crowd (beside the preveously noted) is her skin tone, which is a shadow black. The dress she wears, covers most of her torso and upper leg area while leaving little to the imagionation, is a darkness of space black, her lips an inky black and her hair so black it looks like light and other colors are being pulled in. Her eyes, surprisenly enough, are very Charby-like, completely a crimson red. Her face for the most part give off a look of innocence and naive, but something in the look of her eye suggest something cold. Soemtimes, to make herself more demon like, she has two pairs of wings on her back(both an black darker than her skin but ligher than her dress). The lower pair are more decor than practical, very small and artsy. The upper pair are an artsy bat like wing, but with feathers. Only solid when she wants to be. This is her "defalt" form. Human:Very much like the 3-D shadow except her skin is a normal, if somewhat pale, skin color, her lips are a normal red, and her dress and hair are not a standout black. Her eyes, still red, are the human style of eye coloring, with black iris and white where the color isn't. Very solid, the whole point of blending in with human society was kinda lost on the fact she is still very much a super supermodel. 2-D Shadow: If her human or 3-D shadow body had a shadow, this would be it. Has all the same physical abilities of normal shadows.
Abilities: She hasn't discovered all of them yet. Mostly she can manipulate shadows, get into peoples heads to break or menipulate their minds, read the thoughts comeing from the darkness of the mind, and listen to the shadows. Pretty much she can do anything that has to do with darkness or shadows, but the more losely related the more energy it takes to do it.
History: She used to live in an valley area that now the provence of Grasse in France. She was minding her own buisness, wandering in a medow for a lost reason at the unlucky age of 13 when two warlocke from a different dimention suddenly appeared out of nowhere. They were lock in a battle, using so much magic that the residue was warping them from dimention to dimention. The position that they had appeared in when they were in Shadow's dimention put her right in the crossfire of the two warlocke. They were only there for a second, but the magic they were casting stayed on Shadow for a little while longer. Shadow screamed in pain as the magic ripped all the matter right off of her body. The whole ordeal made Shadow insane, and had happened 30 years before humans became civilize. Shadows don't really live or die, they just existe or don't existe. Because of that Shadow was essenially immortal. Immortality bored her quickly though, so she spent alot of her time playing pranks and causing human suffering, the only form of entertainment that she didin't get bored with. Around the Enlightenment period, Shadow found out that she can go into someone's mind and obliverate it. With each mind she distroyed she gained power. She didn't know of any real way to spend energy that she was now gaining, she her attention span grew shorter and the minds she distroyed became more frequent. She became quiet the terror until the TV was invented. Once that happen she was able to watch human suffering without wasting any time interacting with her newest victim. Come modern day she decided that her dimention was boring, so she jump into a different one. For the first time in her many years of life she was using the energy that she had built up. This spark human curiostity so she began experimenting the limits of her abilities, spenting less time distroying minds and more doing very challaging things. She came to this dimention in order to take a break; she had depleted the energy she had work up and then some. Once full of energy again, she plans to leave and continue her experimenting, and has chosen the shadows of Kelmore woods to rest in.
Good/interesting traits about her: For kicks she took the knowledge of the modern world of what is mentaly insane and what isn't and half offically half not got herself certified insane. Where her morales and concious do kick in (for the most part she 'accidentlies forgets them in the last dimention') she is very nice and considerate of their feelings. Dispite her looks, she is a virgin and is not planning to change that anytime soon.
Weakness: When a bright light is bored on her, she tends to have the same reaction to it as other shadows. When she is anger she usually overkills the whole revenge thing. She also likes to make cruel pratical jokes to a fault.
Friends: She finds the life of a loner to suit her fine, and when she does have pangs for friends she just shadows life and create a personality to live through until the body given to it 'dies'
Well, that was long. ;D Hope she's ok

I forgot to put in that Melly can heal. opps. also, being telepathic, healing, and some shapeshifting(but not to the extent that Melly can, although she doesn't know that yet) are characteristics of the type of fairy that Melly is. She doesn't know that her shapeshifting and element control are strange because her brother can do them too, and they never practiced in the village because they didn't want to hurt anyone if they got out of control (which happened suprisingly often).

Heh. Verve isn't exactly a strong character, she's not a fighter at all. Endorphin's pretty powerful attack-wise, but he's kinda... not the smartest ^^;. Dylan's the closest to Godmoding I'll get, because he's immortal and knows so much, but I'm only using him as a guide for my RP, you'll never see him in anything else (okay, so he's in the free RP, but that doesn't count).
