Name: Moss
Gender: Male
Race: Treeborn
History: Far away is a tree that sprouts intelligent life from its branches once every 100 years. It is protected by a group of odd forest demons who hide and turn the eyes of humanoid life from the tree and the forest surrounding it. The reasons for why the forest demons who protect none but them and their forests and who always keep to themselves protect this tree and work together to keep it safe or why it only sprouts life at exactly the same time once every 100 years remains unknown.
It was first discovered by a group of wood elves, on the run from war. They soon discovered that they could not be found in this place and that there was an odd presence. Uncomfortable in this strange land, but preferring to stay then to leave, they put up permanent residence and ignored all the strange "accidents" that left many a elf dead. During their stay they witnessed the great tree give life and the gave it the badly thought of name "Tree of Life".
Some of the "treeborn" were salvaged, though they were hard to catch and many faded off and died. All the treeborn looked different, some with fur, some with scales, some with pointed ears, some with fangs etc. but they all had large glowing white eyes. It was discovered that they adjusted themselves to their expectations at an early age and solidified into personalities based on circumstances far quicker and m ore efficiently than elves and that they grew abnormally quickly.
All was well for awhile until the treeborn went insane and chased the elves off the sacred land.
When the elves left they found that the war was over. They agreed not to tell anyone of their experiences in the strange land but they were unmotivated and word tends to get out.
Soon demon adventurers from all over set out for the Tree of Life. Eventually after many years of searching it was discovered. But the adventurers who discovered it were killed by the elven treeborn and the ones who escaped told others of the discovery.
Army's were sent to kill the treeborn and even though the place was difficult to find, they managed to get in and slay the residents that lived there.
A great clan of demons took over the forest around the Tree of Life and when the next harvest of treeborn came, they immediately vacated the area with as many treeborn as they could capture, for they had come to the conclusion that it was the tree that had driven the treeborn mad.
Before the harvest of treeborn, the powerful demon society had incredibly powerful magical weapons forged. They were impossible for any living thing to wield as anything but a normal weapon (perhaps not true) and the first thing they did with their new treeborn minions was teach them to use them with the incredible magic that was forged into them.
With their new army they stood unmatched. They took land and goods from everyone and killed anyone who stood against them.
Demons from all over banded together and stood against the treeborn army in a last defense. The treeborn army was over thrown and most of them died (some still roam the world to this day). The society behind the treeborn menace was completely obliterated.
Many years later a small felidae clan came to blows against a mighty dragon in a feud over land ownership. The felidae defied the dragon but the dragon proved much more powerful than they suspected and it killed all but one of them. The one survivor was a fellow bearing the sacred markings of their god, he was Trandar Bandytail of the Tufted Ear clan, of the Rufus Felidae demons.
Trandar believed that he was spared because of his markings and that it meant he was destined to avenge his clan and be a hero of legend.
He did much research into finding a way of defeating the dragon, for though he could sometimes be reckless and carefree, he was not stupid enough to believe he could kill the dragon in a fair match.
He learned of the Tree of Life, and when he found out that the next harvest was only a couple years from then, he was almost overcome with joy. Surely the gods were leading him down the road to his destiny of greatness. He also learned of a place where one of the old treeborn from the war long ago was living, and holding many of the ancient weapons.
Trandar had an odd way about him, he could often know what to do just before it was necessary. His first step was to kill the treeborn, a large wolf-like humanoid, and with his powers, he managed it easily even with far less power than the treeborn. Trandar stole the weapons.
The second step was to find the Tree of Life. Many adventurers were going out to look for it but as a foolhardy quest for adventure, not the great political search for power that had existed just under 100 years ago.
Trandar found it despite the forest demons attempts to stop him and during the harvest he managed to catch one. It was small and black and furry, it had big, white, luminescent eyes, big ears and fangs. He named him Moss because moss could live under the worst conditions and be stepped all over and thrive nonetheless and because the name was connected to its heritage as a forest demon.
The third step of Trandars plan, was to train Moss to fight using one of the weapons he stole from the treeborn he killed. Moss chose a spear with a sword blade on the end instead of a spear head.
Moss grew up with Trandar and learned all his lessons with unbelievable skill and ease. He also learned all of Trandars habits both good and bad and made them a part of himself. Eventually he was ready and he and Trandar headed off to fight the dragon.
Even though Trandar knew he stood no chance, he came with Moss, for he was in his heart, a warrior and it was his family he was avenging and his child at stake now.
Trandar was killed and Moss lost the fight and his weapon. Moss now with nothing left of his life, did what Trandar would have done... he drank.
Eventually Moss pulled himself out of his drunken state long enough to get lost in the wilderness. Without an alcohol source and hopelessly lost he learned to live in the wild as Trandar had taught him. He stumbled upon one of those odd forest spirits (not one of the ones protecting the Tree of Life, but of the same species) and he took it for a spirit. He became slightly crazy with his own religion and his life had new meaning. He learned to channel his mind through the "forest spirit" and reach other dimensions (forest demons are odd, wont explain here).
One day when he was in his susceptible state in between dimensions, he aroused a great power. After Millenniums of waiting it had finally come upon this creature, humanoid but of pure forest energy. It came upon Moss in form of a staff and erased his memory. It wasn't good at going through a mind and taking out certain memories so it just took all the memory previous to it and placed them within itself. It did leave him his name though, for it was a good proper name for a creature of the forest.
Description: Moss stands about 5'1", he is covered in short black fur and has large luminescent white eyes. He has rabbit like ears and has many sharp pointed fangs, his hands and feet have small pads on them and he has short claws instead of fingernails. He has a rough cat like tongue. He wears a dark blue trench coat and a black sorcerers hat. He carries many knives with him, hidden in his coat and a knobbly staff that reaches his shoulders.
Powers: Moss obtains powers of levitation. He can levitate not quite as well as he can lift with his arms and it puts a physical strain on his muscles. He can cloak himself in darkness and he can run really fast and jump far. He is physically a fair bit stronger than a human and he is a trained fighter.
