Deep in the woods, where there was nothing but trees before, a library suddenly appeared, the really big kinds you see in major cities, with large white pillars and lions out front on either side of the steps, with a triangle porch over the steps, the building looking to be at least two stories. The front door is raised up a few feet off the ground, the way up being a set of large stone steps, which end at a stone tile floor beyond two of the large pillars holding up the "porch" ( I don't know what to call it >.>). The door itself has wooden paneling, and seems to be made of glass with metal handles to pull them open. Though the doors are made of clear glass, there seems to be an odd blackness beyond them, keeping anyone from seeing a few inches into the room. What they CAN see is a bright blue shag carpeting, and white marble walls inside.
The building looks rather old, the lions having been worn down by the ages, their manes broken off in a few places and vines growing up around the pillars. The building also has many windows, that normally would allow a person to look inside, but like the doors all the windows have an odd blackness which blocks anyone from looking into the room more then a few inches, even the large doomed window roof on top of the building. Even stranger, none of the windows are broken, or even cracked for that matter, and look as if they where just put in, not even having a speck of dust upon them or any smears.
The last, or first thing someone might notice, depending on where they look is the word "LI R RY" in the triangle of the porches roof, a few vines almost blocking it up, and a few of the letters missing. And just above, sitting on that porch sit two crows looking down at anyone who comes into view, the crows both having ghostly blue, glowing eyes.

Lai walked through the woods, head down, curly red hair obscuring her face. She didn't notice the library until she ran into the steps. Pausing, she timidly looked up, red eyes widening. Pulling her brother's robe tighter around her thin frame, she backed up, intending to retreat into the woods before anyone saw her.

No one stops her and nothing happens to keep her from running away, though the crows do watch her as she moves, and one of them makes a comment to the other in their strange little language that sounds like bird sounds

Lai stopped, studying the crows.
"What are you saying...?" she mused thoughtfully, not really expecting an answer. However, the momentary pause had caused her to reexamine the library. With a sigh of relief, she realized it was not the place she had thought. With a quick look around, she darted up the steps, seeking shelter on the porch.

Both of the birds stop talking, and one of them gives her a "What are you, crazy?" look, while the other seems to chuckle. They watch as she moves back under the porch and then take off, both the birds flying towards the dome window roof and flying through the top of it as if there were an opening. It would be interesting to note, that even if she could understand the speech of animals, she would likely be unable to understand these crows, unless of course she where undead, a spirit, or someone who had died but managed to come back to life, such as being revived in a hospital (Does Lai have a character profile? Can't seem to find it in the character post threads and the search needs at least 4 letters.)

[no she doesn't, not yet. She's a demon/dragon hybrid, eye contact with her causes intense pain. she avoids people because of it.]
Lai sighed softly, then, with yet another furtive look around, slipped inside the library.
"H-hello...?" she called out softly.

The inside of the library is actually well lit, and in stark contrast the the outside, the place is well furnished and kept, electric lights on the walls keeping the place almost as bright as day. There are twin stair cases across from the front door to the second floor, which is is visable more or less, mostly doors to other rooms which have book cases, and in the main "room" on the second floor are mostly chairs and tables, and a few chess and checker boards. On the first floor is also mostly book cases, with a few video racks and computer work stations, just about ever thing in the lower room (at least the books and videos) are locked behind a glass case to keep people from taking them perhaps. The only other things in the area is a librarians desk with a computer, and a wooden pole with an odd, realistic looking scarecrow hanging from it.

demon floated through the woods, he was bored, and thinking about his life, when he crashed with something -ow! who put this stone lion in my way?- he said, when he noticed the presence of someon who was entering the house -"H-hello...?" she said- Demon smiled, and started following her very quietly... -

Chance grumbled a bit, kicking a rock as he walked through the forest. "Stupid gods... Stupid Brynhylda... If he wasn't already, I'd say damn that Loki..." Iridescant fins hovered at ear level, and a bulky, rough-cloth cloak hung loose around his sparse frame. He ignored the sounds of the forest. They couldn't hurt him, really... He followed the rock with his eyes, noting the steps and the library. He stooped and picked up the rock, cracking it open in his hands and disinterestedly pocketing the gold nugget inside. "Anybody here?" he called out gaily.
((Gregorian Chants. Goes by Chance or Gregor. Dragon/God hybrid. ((Don't worry, I'll explain...)) Can manipulate luck. More than that, I ain't saying.))

Felix suddenly looks up, the fire in his head lighting up a bit "You will die...." he suddenly says loudly "when you see our large selection of books!" he moves his hands behind his back and starts to undo the spider silk ropes that bind him, causing him to fall onto the ground on his feet, moving towards the area behind the desk unless someone happens to attack him. The crows in the area (who happen to be on the second floor railing, one some of the tables, and two even playing a game of chess while a few others watch) mostly ignore the non crows in the room, unless someone moves to attack them or Felix

Felix gives a nod "Yes, I do actually. For now anyway." he places his arms on the desk and folds them, holding his hands together and interlocking his fingers "Is there anything I can help you with?" he ask looking at Lei and Chance, the fire in his skill dancing and flickering around inside. "I'm afraid if you wish to browse, you may find that hard as most of the books and computers are locked....the magics and sciences inside are a bit too dangerous to allow most people...so for new comers we only have three books available." he says with a nod

Felix blinks a little bit as two people talk to him at once "Well I'm afraid you can't browse through the locked up books, unless you have explicit permission the Sombalton Adventurers guild, the Blue council, and in some cases a combination of both. Some of those books are very dangerous. I can allow you to look at a certain four however." he starts to walk off and motions for Demon, Chance, and Lai to follow him, stomping his foot if Lai stays behind. He leads them trough some of the book cases, not walking too fast. He stops once he reaches a table with four books set apon it, the books having words on the case and appearing as leather bound. The first says "Insides of Fungel" the second says "Fallen Towers" the third "Forlorn woods" and the last reads as "Cosmic Village". He turns to the others, and gives a little bow "These four books are supposed to be safe....unless you go out of the marked areas of course."

Lai didn't follow, sinking to the floor and hugging her knees to her chest. If she had known people were here, she never would have come in. And she was too tired to find other shelter.

Felix glances over towards Demon "Well depends, do you consider a gun cursed, a car, a knife, an axe? They are not cursed they are just....too much for most people." as Felix talked to Demon, they might not notice that Chance had suddenly disappeared without a sound. Chance might not have noticed it either, unless he was VERY observant to the area around him, or stopped looking once he noticed that all the pages seem blank. Chance was now suddenly in a building that looked half collapsed, the hole left side of the room missing with the edges jagged, as if the wall had crumbled, or been hit by something with a large amount of force. The building seems to have been made out of some odd plastic glass material, as is the furniture inside of it, mostly a small chair, and a four legged table with a round top. Other then the large hole in the one story building, the only other exit is the door frame right across from it, the door missing from it.
If Chance where to look out the door, or through the gapping hole in the wall, he might notice that he seems to be out in space, or someplace that looks a lot like it, silver stars twinkling in the blackness, as well as planets and moons floating in the void. If he looks around, he could even see various nebula and clouds of space dust of various collars drifting in the distance. There are even a few other structures like this one nearby, some damaged, some whole, and a few repaired with mundane matrials such as steel, or wood and such, and a few platforms with gardens, benches, fountains and street lamps. The place seems to have occupants, as in the distance people can be seen, some talking to others, some walking on steps that appear under their feet, and a few sitting down at the various park platforms and doing various things.
If Chance looked out the door, he would see the void before him, and other structures and platforms, and most noticeable a castle like building on a large platform with dozens of crystalline statues around it, most of them looking a bit like the nebula from this distance. The caste itself is rather large, just the door is larger then the entire building Chance is in, with a smaller human sized door built into the bottom. The building seems to have no windows, but has balls of lights on various areas of it, some of the lights moving around and cleaning up any finger prints or graffiti that may be put onto it.
The final detail about the area Chance might see if if he looked straight down, he would see part of a planet many, many, many miles below. From here he could see what appeared to be a green land mass, though imposable to tell from this distance, is actually a collection of trees floating in the sky with broken towers fitted inside of them. There also appear to be a few creatures floating below the village, most of them looking long and serpentine, with a few looking like they may be distantly related to squids and octopi, most having nautilus shells.
The book has also changed, no longer being named after the place that Chance found himself in, instead having the word "Library" written in golden leaf on the cover.

Demon shivered -ooooh, so this books are magical in nature- he said, and suddenly he shuddered -what the... i just felt a very strong magic, is that normal in here?- he said, as spikes grew out of his body, a sign of alarm, normal to him, but that might seem little creepy to anyone else nearby.

Does not go back towards Lai, since she is not really disturbing anything, and the place does not have any rules against loitering. Felix just looks over Demon, and would arch a brow if he had one "Are you OK there? You seem to be..." he says and motions at demons spikes. Is not likely creeped out, all things considerd, especlly the fact that Felix happens to be a scarecrow made from flesh and bones whose skull is hollowed out with a flame inside, with spiders in the rest of his body.

In the shade outside of the library, Mystery lifted his head sleepily. He thought, /Great... I picked to stay outside this building because it looked abandoned! Two humanoids passing in the last few minutes? What is this, rush hour?/ His tongue flickered out, tasting the air.

Mystery couldn't taste anything on the wind. He contemplated leaving just in case those humanoids were actually humans. But, if he did leave, and if they weren't humans, he'd be kicking himself in his mind all the way through the woods. He decided to make sure.
Mystery cautiously slithered up the steps. He closed his eyes and flicked out his tongue again, hoping he could focus on that sense better. He couldn't taste anything human.
He slithered up one step. He flicked out his tongue. Nope. Nothing yet. He slithered up some more. Noooope. He was beginning to wonder if his self-proclaimed "excellent sense of smell" wasn't so excellent, even with his eyes shut. He slithered onto something warmer, hairy, and called a carpet. Still nothing...
