"Ooo! More food! I'll dry this for meals later. Thank you, Endorphin!" She decided that it was not wise to call him "Dorphy." She knew he was dangerous to begin with, and she didn't want to incite his anger.

Endorphin just huffed and skinned the sections of meat carefully. He cut the meat and organs into strips and stretched them out over a tree branch, tied the skin into a crude bag, and set the bones, antlers, and hooves aside in a neat pile. When he deemed the strips dry enough, he piled them neatly into the skin-bag and slung it over his shoulder. He settled the bones on top. He kept out one antler and gnawed on it thoughtfully as he watched the others.

Koumori faded into the background again, hoping noone would ask her how on earth she had managed to destroy an inn. She was tempted to shift back into the background... No. She needed to be around these people. They were a method of both transportation and disguise; the authorites were looking for a lone, traveling dark mage. Not a dark mage, an ice mage, a warrior, a theif, and a... Whatever Endorphin was. Excellent.
She glanced about before allowing herself a brief smirk.

Frost sighed mentally and wondered back over to the stream. She pulled out the only spell componant she ever used, a small flat bottle half full of oil, and stared at it. She had been hoping to get some more at the town, but she hadn't been able to find any before she met these people. She shook her head with another mental sigh and put it back in her pocket. She would wait over here until they were ready to leave.

Koumori raised a thin, almost invisible eyebrow, and slid over to Frost. "Greetings. Might I inquire as to the meaning of the bottle you just produced, and returned to your pocket?" As allways, she was dead serious. Hm. Bottle magic... She had heard that bottles were used to contain the souls of the dead in some cultures... Or perhaps it was merely a scented tincture? It sounded like that sliding of an oil. Herbal essence? Cooking oil? No. She was treating it like something special. This peaked her curiosity.

"It contains an oil that will make any ice items I make permenant. I was hoping to get more at the town, but we left before I could," she explained. "It is very useful for weapons..." she continued softly.

"Hm. It essentially preserves the effects of ice magic, then?" Koumori loved paraphrasing. She wasn't particularily grumpy anymore, since her ears weren't cramped up at all. What could the ingrediants be? Certainly nothing she had heard of. The only way she had ever figured out of preserving the effects of magic was to seal the spell with either a rune, or something of the sort. Even then, they tended to wear off after a little bit...

"Yes," Frost said. "I'm not quite sure what the ingredients are...they're written down in one of my spell books but...I don't quite understand the language..." Frost admitted sheepishly.

"Well then," Koumori almost smiled, perking up, her ears lifting slightly. "Perhaps I might help?" She had allways been intruiged by ancient languages. She had an affinity for decoding them, as well. Even if she couldn't help, if Koumori got an idea of the ingrediants, she could make some. Maybe...
A couple feet away, a pebble exploded. Koumori glared at the fragments, which had thankfully not hit anyone, and returned to her previous, dour demeanor.

"Sure," Froat said, shruging slightly. she paid no attention to the exploding pebble, digging in her various pockets for the book. she went through three or four pockets before she pulled out a spell book that looked to be in fairly good condition and handed it to Kou. The language looked to be somewhat latin.

Koumori looked it over. "Hmm... Can't say I recognise the language... Where did this book come from? Perhaps we might find some tongue to compare it to. It makes me think of an old speech... Cannot recall the name, though..." She frowned. It wasn't often that she came across something like this.
Either the human mage was incredibly kind, or as dull as a brick. Hadn't she noticed the pebble? Most people, encountering such a thing, would have taken their leave by now... But obviously noone in this group counted as 'most people'. That was a good thing...

ooc: Haven't been here for a while... I guess it's just because picking enough wild strawberries to count as breakfast takes a long time. Tiny little buggers.
Chantre walked back into the clearing, her mouth and hands covered in sticky red juice. She started to ask-once again-when exactly they would be leaving, but realizing the condition of her hygeine, started rather quickly for the stream. She splashed some of the refreshing cool water onto her face, reveling in the jolt to complete awakefulness, and stood up.

"Cloud Tower..." She paused, and her left ear twitched slightly. "I... Cannot say I have heard of it, and I have been traveling for years." Another bloody secretive mage group? Koumori couldn't stand those. They made her think of the hoity-toity, backward little goody-goodness of a school back at Whiteshade. Urk. Even the name sounded like a bunch of bloody priests had gotten together and thrown up all over it. Horrible.
Koumori was an atheist. It wasn't that she didn't think that higher powers existed- she knew it for a fact. Religion had all the seeming to her of worshipping the local doctor.

"Cloud Tower is a sort of...school...for ice and water mages in Taleria. It is my home world," Frost explained.

Koumori's voice shifted from smooth and hushed, to sharp and caustic. "But of course. It would be a school, now wouldn't it?" Her left eye glowed red for a brief instant. She blinked, and it stopped suddenly, and pushed her hair out of her face, which didn't work. It stayed there.

"Yes. A school. Full of stuck-up little ice witches who can't accept the fact that a 10 year-old is better than them," she said bitterly. She hadn't been treated the most kindly at Cloud Tower. At least, not by the students...

Endorphin, on the other hand, had noticed the exploding pebble. He didn't rush, however. He tied up his snack carefully, then slung it on his back and made sure it was secure. Only then did he drift closer to the two females. He scooped up a pebble fragment and brought it close to his nose, un unreadable expression flickering behind the sunglasses he hadn't even removed in his sleep.

"Ksssst..." Koumori didn't manage to stifle the hiss before it escaped. She calmed down a bit, but her ears were still flattened against her head. "I, to, had troubles at school..." Uh oh... Villainous rant coming on- WAIT.
She spun around, to face Endorphin. "Might I help you?"

The Devourer 'looked' up and grunted. "What is a school?" he asked bluntly. There wasn't much curiousity in his voice, just a flat demand for information. He turned the piece of pebble over in his hand and bit it thoughtfully.

" A twitsed little place designed for the psychological torture of the underaged." It was a blank answer, devoid of any emotion. Almost like a reflex.

"Oh, so you types are inventing more ways to torture eachother. I should have guessed." He snorted and spat the pebble out on the ground. "Bah, deer tastes better than dark magic." With that he hefted his bag and turned to walk away.

"..." So he could taste dark magic? Intruiging. She had known that he was not human- his aura, and teeth told her that- but now she was even more curious than previously. She hadn't known that magic could be tasted.

Endorphin's nostrils (all of them) flared for a moment, then he settled down a little closer to the group than he had been. He took out the second antler and began working on it. The buck had been fairly young, and the antler was new growth just out of its velvet. Quite nice, he had to admit.

"Hey! Are youuuu guys talking about magic schools?! My father runs one of those! Can't say I'm very good at magic, but, it's kinda cool, yeah?" Nezumi ran happily over to the group, obviously not hearing their opinions about mage schools.

"school was just a neccessary step towards becoming an Ice Enchantress. The only good that ever came out of it was Chime," Frost said emotionlessly. And Chime had to go back, she thought to herself, a scowl flickering over her features.

(May we say that nezumi's father owned it? Just for angsty purposes. And plot. Pweese?)
