Dorphin growled in annoyance. "One more time, I am not interested." He turned and headed for the door, now too annoyed to even feel curious about the 'quest.'
((Hint: appeal to the sorcerer - he still doesn't know what the quest is for ^^))

The girl had treated him like a normal person even when he had tried to offer her to a strange creature. Even if she did not suspect the Mark, she should still think it strange that he would hide his face. One who hid his face usually had something to hide or hide from. Her lack of recognition of any of this irritated him more then intrigue him. At one time he had searched longingly for someone willing to talk to him as a person in this wonderfull but discriminatory land but now he had offered to join mostly because he had wanted to fail. To give him better reason to be bitter.
Also... if she had approached this Endorphin... and she ignored him... she knew... power.... mean... Endorphin.... Krowin less.... his brain shorted out. He decided to put that aside as he did not care enough to strain his brain further.
"I havent given you any reason to trust me... and its dangerous to hire a person without seeing their face first... faces tell more than names" Krowin said.

"Oh, but all I need is a bodyguard. And I am against prying into people's business. So, if you're interested, oh, wait a second... Mr. Endorphin, do you even know what this quest is? We're going to Mount Fukashigi, to find this magical item thing! And, if I don't want it, you might even get it! Please!"
Suka had become attached to the idea of having this guy as her bodyguard. People with sunglasses weresexy (Nezumi isn't me O.o, just reminding you). And his playing hard to get was pretty hot, too.

"Oh... well..." Krowin sulked "I guess i'll just wait for you to finish with him first... before we talk business"

Endorphin was about to tell the female how exactly he'd like to see her cooked - but something made him pause. Magical item? Fukashigi? This seemed... interesting. He hesitated again, grumbling over something. "You wish for me... a lone male... to provide protection for your... clan, yes?" It was an odd concept, a female gathering a clan. Or pack. Herd? He was still trying to get a hold on how these creatures worked.

"In a way, yes. I would wish that you accompany me to this mystical mountain, along with the rest of my group of guards... If you don't mind!"
Nezumi silently took notice of Krowin's flinch at her smile. Men were not supposed to flinch at her smile! She'd have to talk to him later, he seemed sad... She wanted see what was wrong, and try and fix it. And she was as curious as heck about his face. Wagh!

Dorphin frowned and tugged his hat down over his face as he thought. Surely this was an idiotic thing to get involved in. Surely being the underling of an unmated female would ruin his reputation, especially considering her species. Oh, he was kidding himself, of course. He didn't have a reputation, besides that of being a monster. He frowned. Well, if he got bored he could always eat them. Gain their trust, play with them a little bit.... they would make a good meal, and a challenge. He liked the idea of both.
"Very well," he sighed, "I suppose I could assist you."

"Whoo! Thanks Mr. Endophin! You can sleep here at the inn tonight, and tomorrow, we leave! Now, to speaking business with you!"
She turned her entire body to face Krowin, giving him her full attention. (Body language is very important with Nezumi, it can give away a lot)
"What are your conditions, then... Mr... What is your name?"

Endorphin snorted and slumped into a seat at the table where the magic-user female was. He appeared to glowered through his sunglasses at some invisible offense on the table, muttering to himself. What had compelled him to do that? He had never had these impulses before... the THING happened.
((Note about the sorcerer - he's pretty much stuck in Dorph's subconcious. He can influence decisions and thing, but at this point he can't directly communicate with Dorph or anyone else. He can't use magic, either, unless Endorphin's in an extreme situation, i.e. if he's being attacked by magic, he'll throw up a sheild without knowing what he's doing.))

Koumori blinked. She couldn't see what was going on behind those dark sunglasses, and one of her ears twitched slightly under her hood in her agitation. Dammit. She hoped noone would notice...
Hoping to distract from the slight movement, she turned to Endorphin, and, examining his aura again, wondered aloud, if such a soft tone of voice could be called that, "Are you, praytell, a magic user? You seemed interested in the magical artifact."

The devourer lifted his head and scowled more. "Magic?" he scoffed, "Worthless stuff! I would rather stay far away from it." He snorted and his extra nostrils twitched, but didn't open visably. He didn't know much about magic, but it was responsible for changing him into this... monster.

Koumori's ear twitched again, indignantly. She would really have to do something about that before it gave her away...
This strange creature was one to talk. The aura. What was it? Was Endorphin even aware of it? The enigma was irritating... And if she inquired further, this irritable creature would get angry- nope. More angry. And the last thing she needed was to set someone she had just met on fire. Again.

Endorphin sniffed again. The magic-user wasn't human, she was putting out entirely too much heat around the ear-area. They must be fairly large. Covered up, though, and pressed against her head. He smirked to himself. Sight was entirely overrated.

He felt her judgmental gaze and he took a step back, shrinking away.
"I dont have a name" he said "I come from the land of demons, where there are no distinguishable races. Children are born diseased and deformed, people live in filth, and there are no laws. I was born a peasent without a name, but grew up to become a greatly influential demon, with all the desired demonic traits as well as some unique ones. As I became more powerfull, I came upon the name "Krowin" which meant "black haired" and eventually "Rehiro" which meant "champion of demons". I was tribal leader and that was the name I held like all previous leaders. I was eventually overthrown by a pure blooded demon from this land. Instead of killing me..."
A hand reached out from underneath his cloak, and undid the head cloth.
His face and scalp were hairless and purple jags and swirls tattooed them. his eyes had yellow iris' with snake slits for pupils. He had fangs and pointed ears.
"he gave me the Mark of Shame. A sick joke which would mean that everyone would have to acknowledge my failure and I would never be able to obtain success. I came out here to find out how he had become so powerfull, and I hoped to obtain some similar power as well, but unfortunately no one has given me a chance to learn from them. As even out here, nobody seems to want to have anything to do with someone who carries the Mark. But in your case, you need somebody powerfull, and I am the second most powerfull demon in the demon lands, so I believe that I could be of use. But I cant give you a name because I m no longer black haired, as the Mark has rendered me bald and I am certainly no champion of demons. If I were to have payment, what I want is power. Some kind of stepping stone to higher success"

As the deformed demon revealed himself to her fellow bodygaurds, Chantre watched in awe from a corner in the tavern. She had enjoyed her nap quite a while ago, and being the curious mind she was, had gone back into the bar part to talk to Kezumi... and found 'Krowin' giving away his life story. Embarressed at eaves-dropping, she flitted quickly back to her room, pondering what kind of a person would simply hand out his history like that.
(Though Chantre is lighthearted and cheerful, she is very careful with her past and who knows it. She's ashamed that she drove her master to suicide, and will do anything to keep a low profile incase she was in the company of some of his former friends or any kind of fairy folk)

Nezumi looked concerned, and a worried mouth replaced her smile.
"I'm sorry... That must be hard."
Then her mouth became a small smile again.
"But you do seem very powerful! I do need someone like you... Power? Well, you'll get the experience from fighting things on our way... And I have several items of power in my treasure room... I'll let you have one or two, kay? And maybe we'll find something on our travels? So... what will it be? Yes or no? If it's a yes, I'll throw in a complementary hug!" She said, winking, and then looking sheepish, added, "If you want one, that is!"
((Nezumi flirts with anyone ^^; That's just her character!))

Mark of shame? The only shame he smelled was what the demon-man was producing naturally. There was nothing magical about it. These creatures were so foolish to let themselves be affected by a mark. He turned his head slighty - the other female was back. He pushed his glasses farther up his nose and chewed absently on one of the strips of leather he kept in his pockets.
Abruptly, he snickered. "Funny. All of us protecting a human," he muttered.

Noticing the mark, many denizens of the tavern murmur nervously, and some begin to leave.

Frost wondered through the town, her hood up. She disliked being stared at by people who knew what her white hair and green eyes meant. Although, here, it's probably different... she thought to herself. She sighed, then started to walk past a tavern when the notice caught her eye. Interesting, she thought, reading it. Maybe i will learn some new spells on the way. It wouldn't hurt to learn more about this job, at any rate, she continued, walking inside. "Hello?" she asked, lowering her hood. "I would like to learn more about the notice there," she continued once her eyes adjusted.

There was something that Koumori didn't like about Endorphin. Perhaps it was the aura. Perhaps it was the dark sunglasses. It was probably the fact that he sounded like he knew something. She hated it when people acted like that...
Hm. A newcomer. Koumori looked up from her thoughts and looked at her aura. Icey. The new girl was a mage, likely of the frozen arts. Interesting that they should all be drawn here... What was almost as interesting was the fact that she had white hair, and yet she looked... Human. The way she held herself, the single heartbeat, and the smell of warm blood. Definately a human.
Cursed humans... They were allways a distraction. Allways a annoyance. Especially their children. Eeugh.

Frost looked around the tvern, her gaze settling on the group. She hesitated a moment, then walked desicively over to the group. "Excuse me," she said softly, her voice flat, "but I was looking for the one who posted the notice." She glanced curiously at the...girl...watching her, but then managed to put up a front of indifference. Probably knows. I wonder if mages here are treated the same as at the village... she thought bitterly.

Endorphin sank lower in his chair. Another female? This clan was getting too big for his tastes! Sooner or later he would give himself away, or at least get hungry enough to try for one of them. That wouldn't do, he needed to plan how he was going to feed carefully...
His stomach growled. Loudly. Damn, he hadn't eaten properly since the day before! Although the table looked rather appatizing, now that he thought about it. Good, solid wood, well marinated over the years in various food-juices and drinks.... his gaze was fixed on the wood in front of him.

Frost, hearing the man's stomach growl, glanced at him out of the corner of her eyes. Noticing how he was eyeing the table (although it was hard to tell, what with the glasses), she edged about two steps away.

Oh, how she wanted to follow the human. The dark glasses did not frighten her, but they posed an enigma. Did he even have eyes? At first glance, the answer was no. Eyes were important. She wanted to get away. Instead, she raised a pale eyebrow, and nigh whispered... "Have you a name, girl?" the question was directed to the newcomer. She, at least, didn't give off the impression that she was about to gnaw the table in half. She tried to come off as friendly, but it wasn't a part of her nature. She failed, miserably.

Frost straightened her spine. "You may call me Frost," she said. She was tempted to point out that she was not a girl but a woman, but refrained from doing so. After all, here, 23 could still be considered a toddler. she didn't know anything about this dimension. All the more reason to find out about this job. Even if I don't take it, i might learn more about this dimension, and rather or not i ought to leave, she thought wearily.

((It's odd that Koumori calls any female under age thirty a girl, not a woman. Especially because she's seventeen. Heh. Weird.))
"Frost, you say?" this conversation thing wasn't something Koumori had a lot of practise at. Go figure. She held out a pale, long-fingered hand in greeting, but withdrew it suddenly, and replaced the gesture by standing up and bowing curtly, little more than a nod of the head. Cursed formallities. I'll be damned if I let some human touch my hand. She sat back down, and returned to silence. Awkward silence.

Frost curtsied, ignoring the fact that this...girl...didn't want to be touched. After all, she was used to being treated like that. Probably fears my tainted blood, she thought bitterly. She sighed almost inaudibly, then fingered her wrist absentmindidly. She looked away from the people and stared across the room.
(OOC: Frost can only tell if some one is a mage if they are primerily water/ice mages. She is also slightly bitter about her exile and her treatment in her own world...^_^)
