Now, we all know what this day entails. Flowers, candy hearts, and time spent with loved ones. But what's not as openly entailed are the single ones, the ones who constantly rant about how this day is a waste of time and does nothing but either glorify or hurt feelings.
Well, let me start off by saying that I am in the same boat as you people. I am single, lonely, and liking this day less and less as it goes on.
Therefore, I hope I am perfectly clear when I tell you single folk to SHUT UP.
If there's one thing I've always said, its "You don't have to like it, but you do have to accept it". Whether you like to admit it or not, there are people who enjoy this day and are perfectly happy. You have no right to ruin it for them just because you're single and depressed.
I don't know how many times I've tried to stop myself from making any sort of comments about today, but I had to, because it's right.
(Note I said try. I didn't say I suceeded, just that I tried.)
If you don't like the holiday, fine, don't like it. But don't ruin it for people who do.
That being said, I also have something to say for the other side.
To you people who constantly shove Valentine's Day in people's faces and expect them to be all happy and loving and such, don't be surprised if one of them decides to haul off and deck you.
If Valentine's Day is supposed to be about feelings, then respect those whose feelings are a little sore today, for whatever reason they have. It's just selfish and immature to ignore other's emotions just to gratify your own.
And for those who aren't in one of the extremes but still lean to one side or the other, I suggest this:
If you are celebrating today, and you're talking to someone you know is single, try to not mention today and just act like it's an ordinary day.
And if you're single and someone you know is going on about Valentine's Day, try to keep your mouth shut and ignore the fact that you're hopelessly alone with no one significant in your life and probably never will be because your a sad little man with no redeeming factors....
Crap, I've gone on a tangent....
