Oh boy...do I feel old. I work as a research technologist for a major chemical company. I have worked at the same location for 25 years (though for several different companies as we have been bought and sold a few times). I received my BS in Zoology with a Chemistry minor from Marshall University way back in 1978 (ouch). My elder daughter just graduated from college in December with a degree in education (she is substitute teaching). My younger daughter is a freshman in college majoring in art, and like her ol' dad, is a huge Charby fan (I introduced her to CTV; not the other way around).

Thatfs great. Always good to see the Dad getting kids involved in comics. I think I have a chemistry minor. I mean I got enough credits for it, but I might have forgotten to tell them to include it on my Diploma. At least my Graduation Diploma doesn't mention it. I hope thatfs easy to fix if there is a problem. Ifll probably need to find work as a chemist in the future anyway, more work there than biologist. Ifve substituted for a little bit. Itfs interesting depending on the class. If your daughter has graduated why doesnft she have her own class? Violet, No harm working at a grocery store. I never have but I have worked at Arbyfs, Mcdonalds, a Pizza place, at a casino as a busser, and so on. The price we pay for our cars huh. I havenft seen mine in 6 months and I still make payments on it. I love Megaman. One of my favorite Nintendo Games. Didnft know that it was available on the PSP. Ifll have to avoid it for now. Not planning on buying anything cool for myself until I decide to settle down somewhere. Daggertooth

Well I'm now an English Teacher and having a bit of fun at it. For some reason it gots me thinking of finishing up and becoming a biology teacher back in the states. And the crazy thing is that for some reason I can only think of Alaska. Now isn't that the strangest thing.
I still would prefer research or anything outdoors like, but being a highschool teacher wouldn't be that bad. I'd have to brush up a little on my biology but I think I could do the subject justice. Hardest thing is to make it fun. The school district better let me have field trips. Theres no better way to learn than hands on, but schools are scared to death of field trips. Course nowadays if a kid stubbs their toe theres a lawsuit. And I don't think I would care for competing with football for funds. :-p
Anyone got any cool summer jobs coming up?

I've been working part time at a movie cinema, I run the projectors. It's also a television station, so I switch pre-recorded shows also. And I clean theatres, do ice runs, food runs, and sometimes sell consessions. I finished two years of community college last year majoring general studies and art (like that'd get me anything...). Planning on working on webcomics with my two brothers (who also read Charby. I introduced them). =)

Cool Beans. Tell me, does your cinema change out the popcorn and hotdogs regularly. I've heard horror stories of popcorn having an indefinate hold time. I do like popcorn at the movies.....as well as the butter. Should I be scared of this? *goes during peak time when popcorn is seen popping*
Thats cool that you plan on working on webcomics. Is that a hobbyish thing or do you plan on making alot of money with them? May I ask what the story is?

Cool Beans. Tell me, does your cinema change out the popcorn and hotdogs regularly. I've heard horror stories of popcorn having an indefinate hold time. I do like popcorn at the movies.....as well as the butter. Should I be scared of this? *goes during peak time when popcorn is seen popping* The cinema I work at is rather small, only five screens, and one of them only seats maybe 30 or 40, I think. The popcorn hopper gets cleaned out often enough I think. Maybe twice a month, but I don't know since I'm not the one cleaning it. Old popcorn gets squishy/squeeky. We don't have hotdogs. I'd be wearer about the butter topping, when that stuff congeals it's nasty. Thats cool that you plan on working on webcomics. Is that a hobbyish thing or do you plan on making alot of money with them? May I ask what the story is? Hobby that I'd hope becomes something of a career. The story my brothers are working on, but roughly it's about a group of adventurers in a fantasy world that one of my brothers created (he created the world for a pen and paper RPG he's building). I've had alot of other ideas for webcomics, but this seems the most solid, since they're working on the writting, which I'm not so good at. I come up with good stuff sometimes, but my jokes usually involve visual references. I'm hoping that it'll be a good way to improve my drawing skills and get my name out there where people will know me. =D

I wanted a couple of months ago to a Art school, but that became my second choice. I think I'm going to study for languages, actually a oriental language; Japanese ^^. With French, (more) Dutch and English. I already found a school, but it's a bit too far away for traveling every day with a bus -___-'. My dream is to make webcomics, but my drawing is still a bit too unstable. I started yesterday with practicing inking. It was okay, I guess ^^. I'm...a....paper boy-girl...It does pay very good. One hour folding the newspapers, three hours of walking...Ugh. Sometimes I bring them very early on Saturday, while they should be in at Friday . But I can't bring them always on time because of school and sporting. Friday I'm in school till 16.10 PM(?), eating at 5 or 6 PM and then at 19.30 PM I need to basketball for an hour and a half. So I don't have a lot of time.... Now I have to go for my last round >.<'.

I was going for a job interview at the general store last sunday, and noone was there. So I waited. Noone showed up. When I came the next day, they told me they had forgotten about my interview, and that they allready had someone. ARGH!
...So, I'm just going to keep on studying psychology, art and design. ^^

I's just got a job. My first ever. I's on the housekeeping staff at th' local hospital. My unit cleans the doctors' offices after hours, so they're nice when they come back in the next day. Monday through Friday, 6:30 PM to 11 PM. I empties the garbage and put fresh bags in. Is pretty easy. $8 an hour, off Saturdays, an' I can still sleep late. It's nice work, if you can get it. =)

Hi I'm new around here and this looks like a nice topic to start off with, so:
I'm a 3-th grade student in computer programming and am hoping to become a site designer, programmer or computer technician.

I'm a pastry cook. I've been in the culinary industry for four years. Three of them have been with Marriott at one of their Renaissance hotels.
I'm hoping that one day I can be a professional showpiece artist and render all of my drawings into a sculpture using sugar. A graphic designer would also be cool, but since I spent my college days in culinary school, I doubt my degree would be any help.
I've been doing random commissions since I was ten, mostly people wanting tattoo designs or portraits. Still, as much as I would love to, I've never been to art school and the only classes I ever took were potter, draw/paint 1, and printmaking in high school.
So, art is my hobby, and food is quite literally my bread and butter.

Wow, that's really interesting! I'm as pastry cook as well!
I graduated from culinary school a little over a year ago and have worked in various restaurants since even before that! I learned general culinary so I'm kind of a jill of all trades as far as that goes, but I particularly focus on pastry and specialty cakes. I want to continue my education and get a nice fancy title someday.
I work at a little bakery as well as teaching the basic baking class at my culinary institute. Guess I was good enough they wanted to keep me around!
I like to do art when I have time, but I rarely do and I think I'm kind of...eh... rusty. Used to do commissions and junk, but not in years.

I'm a metrologist (study of measurement), although I plan on going back to college and finishing my history degree so that I can become a history teacher and possibly work at a museum. Y'know, like Indianna Jones, but with fewer whips and Nazis.
