I know I should expect this sort of thing, I guess that's why I usually work only one day a week. However, someone needed a week off for vacation, and I like monkeys...err..moneys.
So I worked Tues, Weds, Thurs, Fri... Friday, I went in early to get a head start on taking down movies. According to the schedule I was supposed to be there at 12pm, and another co-worker was to arrive at 12:30. So I figured the concession/tickets were covered at our small theatre. I got a ring a minute or two before 1pm (movie time) from another co-worker saying we only had one person show up for a movie, and that she was leaving, which left me to attend the theatre by myself. I head downstairs to check on things, see the boss, and ask him if it's alright to finish taking down the movies, but he tells me to stay put in the concession/tickets. About five minutes later six customers show up for two movies that didn't start (since no one was there to watch them), so I start to sell tickets, then realize the drawer is locked. I have no key, but luckly the co-worker that said she was leaving is out in the parking lot smoking and talking to her friends, so I run out and get her keys to unlock everything. I sell the tickets, the customers rush into the theatres, and I run upstairs and thread and start the movies, then I run back downstairs cause everything is still unlocked.
At this point I'm still wondering what's happened to the other guy. I know that my boss and another employee are in the building, but they are in the TV section (building is both movie theatre and news station).
A few hours later I ask the other employee and he told me the guy was off covering a football game. >.< No one tells me crap! At least the guy who is there helps at the 3pm, 4pm and 5pm movie times by threading and started the movies, so I didn't have to sell tickets, concessions, and then run upstairs and do all that mess.
I could've been taking down the movies, but nooo, I was stuck watching the concession/tickets. Luckily someone came in at 6pm, with food, so I was able to get a break and eat before the busy 7pm showing. And finally, after the 9pm showing I was able to take down two movies (Hairspray and Harry Potter). I've still got Who's Your Caddy to break down.
Thursday night I had to put together Superbad and The Invasion, btw, and I was there until 1am (had to help clean theatres afterward).
My feet hurt...and I've still got to work all day Saturday, 12pm to 11:30pm.
