Before we get started, look at me. Take a good look, because I'm an idiot. I must be the single dumbest person on these forums because evidently I don't understand the rules. I make 12 posts and I'm already hearing about my language. I spent ten minutes tracking down the offending post, and I fail to see what the problem is. The essence of my post was that I felt one of my drawings sucked, and sucked badly enough that it made me want to kick my own ass. I was censored on the words sucks, and ass. I didn't even use them in the same sentence... I could understand censoring it if I had. "Try to keep the swearing to a minimum, again the PG-13 rule applies." I'd like to note two things: PG-13, and the word TRY. Linguistically speaking, you could exchange the word sucks with the politically correct term "visually disagreeable" And the word ass with the politically correct term "Buttocks" And not a person here would have anything to say about it. So why, WHY am I being censored for these two words? If you're aiming for a peachy keen family rating of G, then make the rules consistant so there's no way an idiot like this guy ---> can blow it for you.

You know he has a point there. PG-13 allows those words. Heck, your even allowed to say the f-word once. We really aught to lighten the rules a little. Either that or be specific.

Amelius is not comfortable with cussing. So, out of respect, we don't cuss.

I know, but this isn't technically PG-13. So we either have to change the rules to fit the policy or rename it G.

Well, I think Whatever is bad for TV is bad for here. Is that resonable?

That's G. Not PG-13. All it takes is a little renaming and then we wouldn't have these fights anymore.

G would be no swearing whatsoever. I thinkg PG would be a more accurate description. Or rather, PG-13 during the 90s (unless I just watched all the wrong movies). If Amelius doesn't swear in her comic, and doesn't swear herself, I think we can be mature enough to respect that. Honestly, I see no reason to indulge in vulgar (a word I use here in the more modern sense, not the traditional) language. We're all pretty creative, I think we can come up with some way to express ourselves outside of the realm of what most popular rap stars seem to use.

Yes the comic is PG-13 because of the gore, but here we can't even say "suck" without getting modded. Now that, is G.
(note: Nothing against the mods. Just the one particular rule.)

Well, I think the discussion area should adhere to the same standards as the material. If a word's not being used in the comic, we shouldn't use it here. Like over at the HRWiki and our respective forum, we don't use any sort of language that they don't use in the Homestar Runner toons.

I appologize for making that call. It was quite a bit harsh of me and I will un-do the edit I made on the post. Usually I have at least one other mod look at the post in question before doing anything, however none of the other mods were online at the time. My deepest appologies.
And thank you for calling me on it. This way I can try to make amends.
Once again, my deepest appologies for the action. It will not happen again.

It's not G. It's like... PG but with more gore! We can say "suck", right? I thought so.

Kind of a bit late, I deleted all my posts so there's no way anyone could've made any definate connections to anyone else.
I'm not worried about it, I just want to know where things stand, so I know what I can and can't say. It bugs me that I read the rules, and followed what I read, and was still wrong. I look stupid most of the time anyway, but this I think, is a new low for me.

Well I didn't think it was necessary to have gone to the trouble to delete your posts. Seems a bit extreme actually. They were interesting after all, I was rather curious as to where they went. Mistakes happen, thats why the edit feature is there. It's not like every time a person breaks a rule they are doing it intentionaly. Mods make mistakes too, in most places they wouldn't even apologize for them. It's really nothing to worry about.
As for swearing. Well believe it or not people do get offended by the choice of word a person uses. I actually think it would be easiest for Amelius to activate the censor for certain words so there would be no guesswork. Some places put greater emphases on how taboo a specific word is compared to another place. I personally see nothing wrong with the word "sucks" dispite its actual meaning (though wouldn't want to see it used literally). But others do, I was even asked not to use it at a friends house. I wasn't going to argue with the father about it.
It's just word choice but it seems that everyone gets annoyed by it at some point. In all honesty you'd probably get just as many people offended at the constant use of the f-word as you would if "Butt" was censored and you had to use "behind". Sure people have different deffinitons of PG13 and stuff. It actualy did mean something different 30 years ago. Thing is this is how Amelius wants it.
Actualy, it couldn't hurt for a stronger deffinition and I would actualy encurage the use of the censor feature.

I can use the word sucks without being offensive... *Sucks soda through a straw*
See?
Har, har. I'm trying to lighten the mood already... the apologies are making me feel bad.... seriously. All I wanted was a clear definition of what I'm not allowed to say... I just didn't like looking stupid because I didn't understand the rules...

Once again, you were within the rules. It was I who made the error. And I again appologize for that an thank you for bringing it to my attention.
And of course.. for humor purposes...
Guy 1: You know what sucks? Guy 2: Vacumes! Guy 1: ...kay... You know what sucks in a figurative way? Guy 2: A black Hole~! ^___^ Guy 1: ........ Gyah! Okay. You know what's just not cool?! Guy 2: ... Lava? Guy 1: *Repeatedly slams his head against the wall*
As a slightly off-topic note: I'm going to be taking a bit of a vacation from modding once Momo comes back from his trip. That way he can pick up a bit of the slack and we won't have two mods off *half-grin* It's been a long week.
Back on-topic. The moderators are currently discussing extending the rules post to be more specific. More on that later. It's 5am here and I havn't slept yet. X.x...

Great, my first week here and I have people apologizing to me, and discussing change.... I'm such a trouble-maker... Why can't I just be normal and happy like everyone else?! *WHINE*
If you didn't laugh at that, you should have....
First, smile.
Second, get some sleep.
Third, smile, lest I have to unleash the wrath of the accursed turkey sandwich!

Well I suppose that just fits your habit of Extremes....yanno...extremely Lucky or extremely unlucky. From what you've been sayin there ain't no middle ground. Must be interesting. But change is usualy good. Ain't the first time discussion came up and ain't gonna be the last. It's all in the process of always growing. Um....I best be on topic though eh. um.... >_> *says something on topic* Daggertooth
