Why?
We get games late. No arcade. I can't beleive we don't have a freaking arcade! No wifi hotspots. No internet cafe.
Maybe I should move to Toronto.

Arcades are getting harder and harder to find. : ( And even when they are found, they don't have awesome games like in the olden days... Ah Golden Axes, how I pine for thee.

Don't go to Toronto. You'll die in less than a week. The air there is so toxic that only natives of the darn place can survive. Come to Edmonton instead. We're still clean. And we have the Mall. And wifi hotspots. And games that come in on time. Check it out, ya.

My city is actually right next to toronto so I'm already breathing in the stuff, heh heh. I checked out edmonten's website. The sky is a lot more blue there.

Harvest Moon: Magical Melody came out last week. Why aren't I holding it in my hands right now? Stupid delays. When will I be able to enjoy its chibified glory?

Heh, I just hope it's better than the last GCN Harvest Moon game, Stonestrike... That was a little sad, at least for me. Of course, I'm still an N64-version fan, so that might have something to do with it.
Hang in there though! Soon you will receive all the cows you could ever milk, all the plants you could ever grow, and all the tools you could ever upgrade! That will be a spiff-tastic day indeed.

I'm sure it will be. You can woo a witch. As for me, I guess mine's just average, even though I don't have any of those things you were talking about either.

I agree with Zolah. If release in your area is really slow just order off the internet. After all the bigger companies order in bulk and you can really save some money with online purchases. Yes shipping is a pain, but with the prices of games nowadays you could spend that much if not more on sales tax. As for things like internet caffe's and stuff, maybe you just don't know where they are in your city. I lived in the same place for a while before i found a good gaming store just in the next town over. Currently I live in a huge city but have no idea where anything is. Probably decent for gaming, though its not anything I can get involved with now. Daggertooth

Ever played Harvest Moon? One of th' game's goals is for your guy to get a wife. In the new one, you can even woo the local witch if you choose.
Me, I think the free item is the only reason for pre-ordering at all. =3

Gamecube. Don't worry wolfchild, I've never liked that acronym either!
For GBA, the most recent Harvest Moon is "Harvest Moon: Friends of Mineral Town," or for da' ladies (i.e., your character is a girl and you woo men instead), there's "Harevest Moon: More Friends of Mineral Town."

I've got it! It's pretty hard but a whole lot more fun then AWL. It reminds me of harvest moon 64. Anyway the city where I live is just barley a city. Almost a town, but just a wee bit too big. So yeah, I think someone should make a city devoted to gaming. Like arcades on every block 'n such.

Isn't that Las Vegas? Or perhaps we should just create another little city, but this time, instead of having highly addictive pastimes in a setting designed to exploit people's addictive tendencies and mental weaknesses that end up destroying their lives... We just have video games. And no gambling whatsoever. (Sorry for the bitterness, it's just that I've seen people whom I care about destroyed by gambling addictions. It's scary.)

Umm... I don't recall any video game that costs money everytime you play it and lasts three seconds and has a 1 in 1,000,000 chance of making any profit. Unless you misunderstood me I have to disagree.

Ifm tempted to say something about the recreational potential of games like Poker, blackjack, roulette, and craps and maybe mention something about probability and the real odds of winning. But thatfs not really relevant. Besides, any video game can be addictive, and if you built a city around something like that then it would require payment for every time you play. Public gaming sites and MMORPGfs usually have some sort of monthly fee anyway.
Some people can get completely consumed by these video games, causing them to spend all their time on them. Maybe thatfs not a bad thing, but in the most extreme case I have heard of an individual committing suicide over the addictive game everquest.
I personally stay away from these MMORPGfs due to the fact that I know I would be sucked in an never get out.

I play many MMORPGs and I still don't understand why everyone finds them so addicting. It's just video games where you can communicate with other players. I even play what's sopposed to be the most addicting MMORPG, World of Warcraft. Guess what? It's not as a addicting as other non-MMORPGs I play *cough* Harvest Moon *cough*. And still a controlled semi-addiction isn't always bad.

You not understanding doesnft chance the fact that to many people it is addicting. Lots of people have addictive personalities for different things, Ifm not sure what proportion of the human population is like this, but therefs a lot. The majority of people who gamble are not addicted to it, or so the casino boards would like you to think, in any case there are those who are willing and do lose everything.
Likewise with RPGfs, I personally know that I will literally stop everything short of work to play a good RPG. If I find a good one my daily routine will become sleep, work, RPG with the only breaks being some skimpy meals and bathroom breaks.
People can be addicted to anything. I also find Comics addicting. If I find a new one I like I will read it from beginning to end in one sitting if I could. I recently discovered Akaelae and all the other works by Tiffany Ross, recently as in less than a week ago. Ifve already read everything that shefs worked on.
Thing is, I know my personal addictive tendencies and take steps to avoid being sucked in, Like avoiding MMRPGfs. There are those who get sucked into their addiction that they lose touch with reality and themselves potentially destroying themselves.

Indeed, addictions are funny things. Everyone is weak and strong in different areas. Hey, I know some people who can smoke tobacco/nicotine and not get addicted. I also heard about someone who got so addicted to Starbucks that she spent well over $40,000 there while in college. So, some people get into video games, and it's just as dangerous as anything else. Not saying that makes them bad at all, but it does mean that some people need to be careful what they get themselves into, ya' know?

I know some people have addictive personalities but should we get rid of what most enjoy so they don't give into their personal problems? I have a controlled addiction to video games. If I had to stop I would be able to easily. I beleive if you can't control your addiction, ask a friend to help you stop. But some people are actualy against video games for how addictive they are. And not only that, due to bad parenting video games have gotten a bad reputation because some people will let their kids play video games without explaining that life is different. All in all, it limits gamer's access to our hobbie.
