I couldn't stop myself from writing this. I discovered CtV less than a week ago and now I'm infatuated with it.
I tried to keep this little vignette consistent with Amelius' established story, but I may be off on some of the facts (like the passage of time or architectural features). Where I am it should be easily corrected and not detract from the story, I hope.
I guess this fic is my attempt to figure out / identify with Rosemary. Am I close, do you think?
Well, it was satisfying to write, anyway.

Rosemary Rants
Rosemary was sorry the instant she mentioned it to her sister. I should have known she wouldn't see the sense in it, she thought, bitterly.
"What?" cried Claire, momentarily slack-jawed. "Kavonn put the moves on you and you shot him down? Rosemary, he's perfect for you! "
Zerlocke looked up from his toast as the two girls stepped into the dining hall. "Did he really?" he asked in some surprise.
"Yes," Rosemary growled.
Zerlocke looked at Rosemary thoughtfully as he put down the jam spoon. "Well, he isn't the Chosen One, but he would be a good match for you, sister. Why reject him?"
Rosemary felt long-stifled anger rush from her toes up into her throat like volcanic magma, and she decided her two idiotic siblings did not deserve to be protected from it any longer.
"You want to know why I don't believe in the mass delusion that is the concept of romance? I can't believe I need to explain it to you two!"
Zerlocke and claire exchanged alarmed glances as Rosemary's anger spewed forth towards her brother. "You need reminding about Adria? You were "in love" with her, and what did it get you? Eighty years of ceaseless torture-- and not just for you! You think she wasn't cruel to us as well? We told you it felt like she was ripping our hearts out to see everything that *!@$^&!#% &!#% did to you, and still the suffering of all three of us was not enough to drive you away from her! That taught me how this "love" thing blinds you, converts you to spineless jelly incapable of logical thought. "
"And how many years did it take us to recover, after she finally cast you aside?" Rosemary turned to glare at her sister, "You were there, Claire, how could you not learn the same lesson! As disappointed as I am in your willingness to buy into this romance nonsense, as much as my skin crawls to think of you being intimate friends with that hairball, I thank every possible source of goodness that your beastly boy-toy isn't smart or strong enough to be any real threat." Rosemary paused for breath, and continued, "When it ends badly, just remember I told you so, d@##!t."
"And it goes without saying I thought you, Zerlocke, had learned this lesson the best of us all. So I was dumbfounded when you dared trust the idea of "falling in love" again! And when that once again didn't work, I thought surely you had realized the stupidity of the whole business. But no! I gave my brother too much credit. Again and again and again you refuse to believe the evidence! "
"That thing everyone calls romance is trick of psychology and biological chemistry! A tool of social engineering, the commercial mainstay of the entertainment media! It's a judgement-clouding mental impairment. The least damaging thing anyone can hope it could be is a temporary complacency-inducing opiate. Love always ends in pain, for everyone fool enough to try it. It always has and always will."
"Zerlocke, you've spent the equivalent of two solid years in your room, indulging your obsession with Mye, alienating yourself from the friends and associates you once had, and for what?? Of what value are four walls of your senseless scribbling?? You have accomplished nothing! Will you ever accomplish anything as long as you continue to chase this mirage?"
Rosemary felt bitter satisfaction as she saw Clare and Zerlocke's faces show hurt and confusion. She stopped to take a few breaths. Claire looked about to say something when Rosemary cut her off. "I'm not done yet."
She directed her next volley of fury towards the arcade behind her brother. "Hat-boy! I know you're eavesdropping, come out and face me."
Claire looked with worried concern at Rosemary. Zerlocke calmly set down his toast, inhaled soothingly, and opened his mouth to reassuringly say that of course no one could be hiding just behind him. He paused to select his words carefully.
Kavonn stepped quietly out from behind a column, his face blank. Claire squeaked in surprise, and Zerlocke gave up the act, glancing at the second teacup and plate of toast Rosemary must have seen. How she had guessed who his guest had been mystefied him.
Rosemary's voice rolled toward Kavonn like a heavy river of lava. "I had thought you were smart enough to have figured out this love business was bull$#!*-- until you proved otherwise. Tell me, have you any reason to believe in this figment of the imagination? Has anyone you've ever met got any reason?"
Kavonn said nothing, at first. Then he decided not to say anything at all.
With that, finally, Rosemary's rage was exhausted, and her voice came to rest. Maybe now these fools would get a clue, she thought, If not, I've done my best to enlighten them.
However, her displeasure with the overall situation was an integral part of her and there was no venting it. "Why am I the only voice of reason?" she crabbed as she poofed out of the room.
The three remaining people stood in silence for a moment, considering what they had just witnessed.
Reluctantly, Zerlocke said, "Perhaps she would not be such a good match for anyone."
Kavonn, sadly said, "Perhaps not."
Claire looked gloomily at the empty space Rosemary had stood.
