I consider Charby the Vampirate to be one of the best comics on my rounds. (the only other i read that's as good, frankly, is scary-go-round, which is frankly awesome.) Not to mention that duck allowing, you were also one of the most frequently/reliably updating i know, too.
If you aren't up to keenspot quality, i don't know who is. I'd seriously give consideration to going keenspot, or at least comic genesis.

Keenspace/Comic Genesis is veeeery sloow on doing -anything-. Just signing up takes two weeks or so -_-. I am STILL waiting for them to validate my password. CTV is -much- too good to waste frustration on Comic Genesis.

Slow, but then, if somethings worth doing, it's worth doing right. Moving to comicgenesis even, (let alone getting Spot'ed) would easily increase Charby's readership. (Which it more than deserves). Of course, if a move to keenspot was wanted, it wouldn't really matter where Charby was, as long as it was there to be seen by the spot crew.

Hmm, I had a slight spot of trouble contacting some of the comics on SmackJeeves for a moment - at first a few connection refused, or document contained no data error messages, but only for a minute, then the pages started loading again. Seems pretty snappy now - loaded a 1MB comic at about the max. speed of my 2.2Mbps Internet connection. Apparently JC is taking a while on the "ver3" upgrade they're working on (now I note that's also on their frontpage - I just didn't scroll down far enough to see it). Also, there's a JC 300KB limit per comic image? Perhaps some of them could be split up, if necessary. Oh, and hey, SmackJeeves allows Google Adsense advertising. That pays reasonably well (currently averaging about $1/day on Wireball.com, off a couple of pages getting around 500-700 hits per week - ymmv). I suspect that overly zealous readers clicking on the links too much might be the reason that SchlockMercenary.com had their Google Adsense advertising suspended for a bit (although Google couldn't say why - trade secret), although they warned their readers not to do that, but they got reinstated again after about a month. I'd say your comic is more detailed visually than some of the webcomics on Keenspot (like, say, General Protection Fault, to give an example), and the art looks great to me.

From looking at both for at most a minute, I like Smack Jeeves better.
Man, that was such a stupid reason for it going down. The dude wasn't paying attention; so much so that he didn't pay for it. That's great. >sadness<
I've missed CTV so much! I can't wait for it to get back up!! (@_@)
By the way, I know much about HTML. Actually, I'm going to a tech center to learn web design right now. I'm only at the beginning but I know the basics already. I volunteer myself readily if you need me.

I've had some experience with Smack Jeeves, and I'd definitely say that it's got all that you need for the site. Free, comment and rating systems and customisable pages.
If you really want a comic host soon, I'd say join Smack Jeeves. They sure could use the traffic of a comic as cool as yours.

Hello! I havn't been posting on the forum but I've been reading CTV for some time and I thought I should mention that I have saved all the CTV comics (well no. 1-574 +crossovers anyway) posted on DD. Not to steal them or anything, it's just that my own computer doesn't have an online connection and also I'm a bit paranoid about trusting computers/online connections etc. Anyway, if anything's missing from the deleted DD-archives I don't mind sending it over, as long as I know how to. (It might be a bit heavy to put it all in an e-mail...) I hope CTV will be back soon!

i think you try and get spotted and while waiting for them to get back to you sign up to a free sight to host your comics on. after all like many have said it does take a great deal of time for them to get back to you if ever at all. and if you don't think your web comic is keenspot quality then i suggest that you should start reading some more keenspot comics. not all of them are 100% pure quality and many have been dead for ages. not to mention they might be more eagary to accept new comic artists considering the amount of good web comic artists which drew in most of their traffic leaving (mellonppol, dominic deegan and errant story) once you do get established on keenspace and become popular enouth with a good amount of donations you can ditch keen for ever and get somewhere else to host your comic using the money you gained from donations to fund the hosting. thats what a great deal of comics do anyway ^^()

And I shall make it my quest to hunt down and list every server of all of my comics!! And, goldenberry? You forgot to mention El Goonish Shive. El Goonish Shive is also one of the best comics I've found on Keenspot. Anyway... EXCELSIOR!!!!!

*gulp* Aheheh... Erm, Um... K, I have WAAAAAY too many webcomics, I'm sorry to say. I've got, let's see... When I put all of them in my favorites into one folder, it takes, oh, about 15 scrolls from my mouse to go through the entire list. I'm scared. And now I have to go and organize them all over again!!!!! So, sorry to say, but the quest I embarked on was literally mission impossible-especially because internet connection is really slow today! *weep* So, yeah. All you other guys with only 50 or so favorite comics go look at the servers, I'm through.

Oh wow, you have the first half that I need! You're a lifesaver, Mwahaha! I'm currently recieving the other half from another reader, but her computer doesn't want to open the first portion (The portion I am recieving starts from the comic where Evil-Oswego Charby is throwing the couch at Hex and Kavonn shows up to interrupt the fight and goes on from there) I shall PM you about it though ^_^
But I do have a spot on the net, I'm just not giving the address(nothings there now anyway) until everything is figured out so my friend who bought the space can teach me how to run the thing. Until then I'm trying to get a few more pages done and I'm posting them in this forum for temporary so you can read at least a little bit of it. So most of the wait is for the archives, since I can't just post a comic in the middle of a storyline and confuse the heck out of new visitors ^_^

El Goonish Shive is also one of the best comics I've found on Keenspot. Anyway... EXCELSIOR!!!!! i also read el goonish shive, it's just not one of the comics that have left the spot, because they are still hosted on it. i have read over 225 web comics and thats only on my list. god knows how many more i have read which i read and didn't bother to add or comics that have died and i deleated off of it. do you have a worthy figure to compare to such a number?

Aheheh, only 149. At least, that's the ones that I check almost daily, not to say all the ones that I have in my unread file. (be scared. Be very, very scared) And also about 50 or so that I've lost a long time ago or became extinct thanks to Drunk Duck. *weep*

Well Amy, All of us are backing you up 100% if you need any help, give me an address to send some cash, and I'll do a few chores to get my parents to give me a few extra bucks or something... There is also Blank Label comics, started by online comics folks who wanted to break away from Keenspot. www.blanklabelcomics.com/ Southworh, Howard Tayler, Steve Troop and Paul Taylor all have their comics aboard. Mookie's (Dominic Deegan) also gone from Keenspot to his own site on ZeStuff. Have you talked to the others like Sara at Vermillion Works (Vampire Phantasm) or Rubber Mallet (Gods of Arr-Kelaan)? Would you (or could you) post your comics on the forum in the mean time? Just throwing out my newbee two cents...

Of course I shall post the new ones there, in fact I have the last 9 pages (well 8 plus a newer one) in the "random things at random times" forum, first page post. I've been really busy with other things so it won't be the same schedule as before, but I'll try to get things done so the story doesn't lose all of the appeal during such a long wait we've had. I really appreciate the support, everybody ^_^ News on the new site as of yet: still working on the layout, I got to view the first drafts of it today. I'll need to learn a few things about the site's navigation and such, but once that is all through we'll be picking up from where we left off ^_^

Jelly Creations is an awesome site and you get plenty of feedback once you get noticed by other members... I'm so sad that it's down right now. *pout*
I'm not liking smack jeeves, the people there aren't very friendly. -___- I'm keeping my comics there until I find somewhere else to go.
