thought I'd write this thread to talk about what I think about things in the comic (y'know, get a little personal insight to the methods of my madness?)
Well, just bring up anything and I'll talk about it. like character personality, why I'm so mean to some of them, the usual.
I'll start this off with something that has been in my mind a while.
There has been concern about Tonius and his apparent lonliness...and I've been told several times to make him a girlfriend. I'll say now, I have no qualms over making a new female character for CTV (and yes the 2 I've been suggested very much intrigue me) but making one for the purpose of entertaining Tony just strikes a wrong chord with me...not that I like him to be miserable (he's one of my faves) but giving someone what they want all the time makes them, a little boring? Such is the quandary for Menu at the time (though I do have ideas for him later ^_^)
It is not my intent to sic all amorous intentions by the males on Mye, but Tony's got it pretty bad for her at the time.
I'm not gonna name names,(you don't know them anyway though) but I've said before that a lot of inspirations for the comic have come from people around me. I wasn't going to have any romantic angles in the comic at all until something happened to a friend of mine, where a female he liked was completely oblivious to his feelings and then she ended up dating his friend. the comic inspired by that? here the second comic Mye appeared in. At that point I had devised what would happen later between the 3 on the couch...
of course those feelings the friend of mine had for her are very gone by now, (since this went differently, it was a betrayal thing) but in this case, Mye is already good friends with Tony. Tony doesn't know yet that Mye think's Zeno is a girl,
so the comment she made about them not being her "type" goes over his head. He knows she has a crush on Vic that will probably fade soon.
Now that the inspiration part has been explained, I shall talk about something else! The "moving on to better things" part.
some people simply cannot accept substitutions.
Tony is like a guy who has a craving for a Whopper when the only thing open is McDonalds. He could get a Big Mac but it wouldn't be the same...
I would pity any girl that winded up with Tony in this part of his life, as she would be much like the way Zeno thought Mye felt about him the first time he dumped her 6th panel Zeno expains exactly how.
Also, I guess at heart even though I hate romantic movies I am pretty sappy. Simply chucking another girl in there like one would toss ground chuck to sate a wolve's hunger just doesn't seem like it would work for me.I like the painful, emotionally damaging reality that you can't always get what you want, even those who have forever to wait.
Of course even I theauthor am not sure who I would like to see with the character I have often said I relate to (no this is not why I sic the cute guys on her, though admittedly I do live vicariously through my characters) eventually end up with. Even though Zeno is struggling with his powers now and becoming a mega-jerk, I can't blame him for that. He really does love her and for once he finally got what he wanted in his miserable life. Tony has had a hard life too (though not as rough as Zeno) but he also has real feelings for the girl, and he can't just let go of that even with an equally cute or even cuter or heck the girl off his poster snuggling up to him.
Zerlocke of course is going to get in more trouble with this, I know some people think I'm driving his obsession into the ground by bringing it up often, (as I;ve been told to move on whenever either his or tony's infatuation is brought up) but I like to bring it up just for that point. it is a nagging feeling and if they are getting irritated in the comic I guess it goes for as much to have the readers be slightly irritated by it. Not so much to get annoyed but I mean by empathy.
Indentification with the character's conundrum.
Both of these fellows may never have a chance with her, but then again they may. It is to be seen.
But when I bring up Zerlocke's obsession, it is to show that he is losing grip on reality. His own sister is plotting against him, and he would notice if it weren't for Mye distracting him.
He's not stupid but he comes of as such lately. Notice how he used to speak so eloquently before? His vocabulary has dwindled. he was on par with Kavonn on highfalutin speak.
Now he saves the pretty words for Mye...
Zerlocke and Tony do share this in common though, they both are attached to her for similar reasons, and are going to be hard to pry off even with a magical crowbar.
Zerlocke and Tony both had their hearts broken by a girl in their past and were bitter for a very long time, and of course guess who changed their minds?
Of course I should point out again, though I relate to her she isn't a representative of "me" because for one that would be kinda..i dunno, full of myself?
anyhow... I'll write more on this later. feel free to adress any of my stupidity! or respond I mean.
