This here girl’s name is Janik, Jan for short. A long time ago, she was stillborn in Germany, and her parents took her out to sea to throw her body into the waves. Unfortunately, the ship they were on crashed into another ship headed for London, and the England-bound ship won the encounter. The small casket that held the dead babe fell into the hold of the other ship, and was completely forgotten as they continued towards England. Soon after reaching England, the ship took off again to France, and that’s where Jan grew up. For many years, she tried to live as a beggar (a blind one as to hide her eyes) but it never did work out. Then, a traveling circus came about, and Jan’s fancy was struck at once. She snuck on board with the crew, watching the tricks, and practicing them herself at night, perfecting them beyond what the experts could do and creating many more by herself. When she finally decided she was ready, she went to the conductor, and started juggling 5 knives perfectly; she was hired on the spot. Apparently, however, her presence in the company startled their audiences, and made them suspicious, so one day the conductor simply left without her. She went back into town, found another circus, and the same has happened again and again, hundreds of times, and Jan has finally grown sick of it and wants to stay put somewhere. Where that place is, however, she had yet to find out…
I started playing around with creating female alps since I saw that comic about Tony’s dream with Mye putting on the hat, and I started this one just Wednesday night. I couldn’t think of an appropriate hat for her until just this morning, when my friend Chantre suggested a jester hat. Instantly, I knew who she was, and I started doodling her on all of my homework to practice. Although my math teacher was most certainly not pleased, I was feeling pretty cocky about her. Originally, she was my idea for Tony’s replacement girlfriend, but when I started a comic about it, she just didn’t fit him. So, here she is, and I hope that she didn’t steal any ideas for an Alp design for any of youse!
