Ahh, I went to my wiki today to edit my profile picture today because I didn't like the little white slab on the side and then I got a glimpse of what was in my profile description: "Amy of Darkness is the awesome (and apparently paranoid) woman who makes the webcomics CTV and UIU. For the uninitiated, Charby the Vampirate and Unlife is Unfair. Although her comics are about clinicly dead things she is not a necrophile. Ditto pedophile (I assume and hope ) " Now I know I didn't write that. I would never call myself awesome, and I don't know who has access to my profile to write that, or who hacked it, so I'm nervous. I'm not going to ask who it was who wrote that because you probably meant no harm. But that's not what has me upset. It's the "I assume and hope" at the end that's like a stab in the guts. Let me make it abundantly clear. I am NOT A PEDOPHILE! Hearing someone who obviously reads my comic react with doubt as to whether or not I am some sick sexual deviant (far, far far from it) hurts more than if someone had outright put something ridiculously nasty about me on my profile. So you're darn tootin' I'm paranoid, but I think with good reason.

I'm paranoid too if it helps. I didn't do it, so I'd ask close friends who thought it might be a funny prank. They'd be more likely to have access to your computer and thus saved passwords and/or open tabs.

Aw, geez. That's terrible. At least the "awesome" part is undeniably spot on.

Amy is not an Anythingphile. She's a giant prude. Sorry Amy. >.>

Sad, but this is why they invented passwords. It's not nice, but the more famous you get, and you have quite a degree of it whether you accept it or not, the more you will have to lock this sort of thing out. Have you logged a call with tech support? They may be able to get the username that changed it. Hopefully it wasn't yourself. Either way, I'd change your password (has a whole page with password-pictures on it).

@odin: No apologies necessary, I'm proud of my prudery! I did change my password though, rather recently in fact. I don't know who would have access to it, I don't even give my own husband my passwords and all but one of my friends is in another state, and they know me a lot better than that/would never say that even if they knew my password. I don't use anything anyone would know for a password either... I just wonder if it's a security problem at the wikia that lets people edit whatever's not locked, I didn't see a lock for profiles. There's no history for it either... Like i said, I don't think the person who wrote it meant any harm... they just worded that really, really poorly, and the fact that it even had to be mentioned in a profile disturbs me like you wouldn't believe. It's like if I wrote a profile on some cartoonist and said " even if his cartoons are about talking animals, he's not into bestiality. At least I hope not, I'm not sure!" Why is that people see sex in everything? Maybe lacking all interest in it I'm "missing something" but it astounds me how something completely innocent (the relationships that is) gets people to think this when there's so much blatant exploitation to point to for a real example of it. It just makes me want to kick some teeth in! I haven't gone to tech support though... quite frankly I almost don't want to know who did it. I already felt recently backstabbed by another friend for different reasons (no one active here of course!) so I'm not sure I could take another blow to my emotions. I am shamed to admit part of the reason the comic was so late is because I felt really resentful. Not of you guys, which is why I'm kicking myself over it because i don't want to punish you in the same stroke, it's just hard to work up enthusiasm to update when you know someone is getting a ridiculous fetish vibe off your comic for completely ludicrous reasons they concocted in their brains. Seriously, I'd gladly take everyone in the world saying my comic is a carbon-copy of JTHM than have anyone ever even IMPLY something like that of me again.

Be careful Amy someone may edit your page to say "AMY HAS NOTHING ON JTHM!" all over your page now... I don't think that honestly. personally I don't even care for JTHM. Also you better **mn well make sure you're emotionally stable before updating you know how your fanbase gets when you angst in the creators comment section.

Well, it's really very unfortunate that people would get such an impression at all. I really don't get it myself, how some people think that way, but sadly, they do. For what solace it may offer, one of the reasons I enjoy CTV so much is BECAUSE there is a lack of flagrant sexual themes.

That's a... very weird description. I can see why you were hurt by the implications, I'm going to settle into the idea that the writer was reacting more to rest of the internet and its obsessive tendency to read too much into anything and just didn't get what effect an ignorant statement can have. Snip/, one of the reasons I enjoy CTV so much is BECAUSE there is a lack of flagrant sexual themes. I agree, I always felt the genuine innocent nature of CTV is one of the best things that sets it apart in the webcomic community (well, innocent whenever someone isn't getting messily killed, natch ). Not naive, just the work of a dedicated prude. Also, who doesn't love Asterix the Gaul-esque swearing? Nobody that's $%@* who! Bluh, maybe it's because of some of those other works that the one who wrote this was so paranoid about their implications (projecting much?). Bleedman might be one example; where the guy's a good enough artist but the fetishy nature of his work just got too much for me (one who is only a prude in polite company).

I know how ya feels Amelius. I'm no artist, but I get very bummed when someone criticises me for something I ain't. I know, it should be the other way around, right? If it's honest I can take it, but if it's wrong it winds me up to no end and the only thing I can motivate myself to do is seethe or rant. Go for a walk, break something, play squash, whatever helps you work it out of your system. Draw a picture of you bloodily strangling some faceless individual.. you know, the usual!

Now I'm one of the most mellow, calm, cool-headed people I know, but lying is one of the rare things that upset me. Not just lying but flagrant misunderstanding/falsities. I can easily understand why this was upsetting. I'm also an optimist so I can't leave without saying something positive. We think you're awesome!
