Yes, a new thread just for this most recent page, just 'cause it's got me all fired up an' full o' quandaries. I'll copy from my DD comment:
"Once feared and respected, eh? Then why does Charby seem unfamiliar? Demon Prince? How might this tie in with other plot elements or pertain to Hex and Mye's zombie nature, if in any significant way?"
Now time for rephrasing of the rest of it:
What reason might there be that Mye had difficulties with magic yet was unexpectedly able to "defeat" the Bear Witch? What memories might she have lost? Are they gone for good or just buried? If she remembers them, what would happen to her? Does Tony really love her or was the Bear Witch lying when he said so? Will Kavonn's bugs ever be found? Will Yiska mess it up somehow or is she really going to take it seriously enough to have it not be an issue? What more might we have learned if Kavonn hadn't been interrupted?
And something that I noticed:
"perhaps it is a little more than a hat..."
WHAT EVER COULD THAT MEAN!? Question topics are numbered for ease of discussion:
1.) Ok, so firstly, one could say that Charby isn't familiar with the Bear Witch, for several reasons. One- He was laying low enough that he just never heard of him (Doesn't seem entirely likely.) Two- Charby is familiar; just not letting it show. (Probably not, though a possibility) Three- Between pages, that part of the conversation was skipped (I doubt this) Four- Charby just didn't remember. (Mmmaybe...) Five- What he knew of the Bear Witch wasn't enough or was too skewed from rumors for him to make the connection. (I pick this one for the time being)
2.) The demon prince may be directly connected to the bunny form. Possibly the cause for "mutation" of normal orycalope form, being a hybrid of that (from the potion mishap) and the original demon manifesting itself.
3.) Mye's apparent lack of innate magical talent could be a manifestation of her low self confidence. Alternatively, her success may have been what was effected by her state of mind at the time. Perhaps she really is less skilled, but desperate times sort of "boost" her ability with her mindset.
4.) Lost memories... Well, if anything more than the psychological torment we're aware of, I've not got a guess, but I'm sure somebody does. As for erased vs repressed memories, I'm adequately certain it's repressed, but perhaps Hex is being overcautious or thinks that the memories can be given back somehow, via use of the talismans? If she did remember what happened, I'd say she'd either go catatonic from the immense rush of it all returning or she'd be depressed for a very long time, close to the verge of insanity (though still a few steps away). She'd get better either way, though. Despite her meek demeanor, she's rather strong.
5.) I'm roughly 95% certain Tony does, in fact, have genuine feelings for Mye.
6.) After being revealed, the bugs will certainly not be discovered soon. Even in the future, it seems like a very minor thing that could easily be responded to with a clever cover up, unless Phineas or Crispo are the ones confronted, in which case, there might be issue, but I doubt their operations would be given up so easily. I think it's actually very unlikely that Yiska would be the one to reveal the bugs, if they are ever revealed, by accident. On purpose, well... It's possible, but that's a whole plot possibility I'll not get into, because it doesn't seem altogether relevant or probable.
7.) I'm actually inclined to think that Kavonn would only have repeated the encounter we saw before, but even so, there may have been some things revealed by his retelling. Not sure what... Possibly information on the Scotodino.
8.) Ok, so the hat... that phrase reveals absolutely nothing, but opens the door to anything. Perhaps the hat was once a sorceress? Or maybe the sorceress is trapped in it? Perhaps the "gender" is a remnant from its former owner, imprinted onto it in some way. Maybe its personality and gender weren't "created" in such a way, but rather, developed over time. Could it have once been non-sentient? But "more than a hat" we already know it to be... What more then? Hmm... Perhaps it personality actually was intentionally given to it to give it free will, for some reason? But then why would one need a sentient hat with such power? If it never was "just a hat" then what are its origins? I'm answering questions with even more... It's a riddle wrapped in a mystery inside an enigma.
Ok, so that's what I've got for now. This oughta' keep us busy for a while, hopefully.
