So, I was doing social internet stuffs, when it got me thinking (as almost every aspect of life does) perhaps there are more ways for Amy to promote her work. Now, I've only really got two ideas, and they were not explicitly my own, but still, I'll put these out here and hope that others may be able to suggest more. Actually, this is not too shabby a thread idea.
Ok, so the first idea, would not only increase reader enthusiasm, but would also add to the reader-author interaction and would not take any time away from Amy's work. Livestream the comics while they're being produced. I know I would love to see them being made and it would also aid as possible tutorials to others. I can see only one hindrance, but unfortunately several downsides. Hindrance- Amy might not work for a continuous amount of time long enough for a livestream to be plausible. This I do not know. Downside #1- Fans might want to make "suggestions" as the comic is being made. I can quite easily see how it would be an issue and an annoyance to put it mildly, but one resolved through a combination of an honor system, acceptance of the fact that it's already been sketched and planned, and kicking anybody who ignores these. I, for one would just like to see it be made. Livestreams are always fun for me. And, of course, live streams have chats too, so Amy could talk with her fans more readily if she wished to as well as give answers to questions that may arise as they do. (That's a plus, not a downside) Downside #2- People might try to spoil the next page by commenting on the previous one before the new one is finished and posted. There is unfortunately no real way to enforce behaving for this one. Downside #3- Too many people chatting might make that part utterly pointless. Also trolls. Downside #4- It might be too much of a distraction to be reading comments while working.
And this is why I'm seeing if anybody's got any better ideas.
Idea number two. Kinda' the opposite end of the spectrum in almost every aspect. A site that has three of the webcomics I read did a raffle thing a while ago. Yes, I'm aware there was a monthly raffle before, but the prize for this particular one was something that got them a lot of money in donations. They didn't reach their goal, but to be honest, they're not as popular as CTV. Anyway, the prize was a non-canonical appearance in each of the webcomics (along with other loot), but that it is non-canonical makes it a good prize for either end, really. The author doesn't have to worry about continuity, and the winner still gets to be in the comic. Not saying it's the best idea, and I'm not denying I'd like to win that prize, but it was a pretty cool idea, I thought. Btw, my brother actually won that raffle, and let me be in one of the three comics (what a nice guy I'll post it up when the page is made if anybody is interested (though even I am unsure of what exactly it'll be. I gave the guy a choice in how I'd appear in the comic... getting off topic... ANYWAY! That is all, I suppose.
