Bleh, I'm slightly annoyed with the general inactivity of dis forum. As I said when I first joined, I tend to be one of the quiet types who reads a lot and posts little. However I noticed that most people here tend to not talk as much, forcing my hand and making me start topics. This is fine enough, but then nobody replies. They read and say nothing. Come on, it's a forum, youse supposed to talk here.
Also why did humans evolve away from having a tail? Think of all the possibilities! Anyways, big mistake in my opinion.

Haha I think that a big problem is that guests are allowed to view the forum without logging in, if you notice the "active users" stats there's close to forty guests or so that visit the forums.
I would do more but I am not very interested in forum games or RP.

In all honesty, I haven't made a single post in the rp section and only a handful in the games. I mostly visit forums to talk to people. And yes, I'm aware that we have guests, but one must still ask what the other real members of our forum do when they visit here.

img269.imageshack.us/img269/9562/lolmoargueststhanusers.pngwell most of the time I see them RPing, I mean that RP is apparently the 13th part of a series(ongoing) Methinks we need to do moar discussion on this matter. I remember at one of the other forums I go to as they say, "if there's no one posting then start your own topic! Get more people interested in actual posting than just playing around"

I think you should participate moar in a forum before complaining of it's inactivity, for instance try making your responses more in-depth I don't want to know what you've done for the problem, but what you plan to do (I forget what that's called but there is a specific word for that).

Generally speaking, I prefer concise answers. I could ramble on at length in any given topic, but if I can state my opinion in two or three sentences why should I stretch it out? My "problem" as it were is that members rarely venture outside of the RP and Gaming section. As for what I have done and will continue to do is make topics that I think have some chance of catching attention and starting talk of some kind. One can lead a horse to water, but one cannot make him drink. I posted in here not with the idea that somehow I would magically stumble across the answer to my quandary, but rather because this section is here for people to blow off steam.

Hahaha (no wonder it wasn't in the discussion forum)
Well good luck I'll just try to post more, or at least provoke more of a response, I find that short posts deter people from proper discussion and often lead to a thread getting off topic, as well as making it less appealing.
Your right I do ramble but at least it gives less leeway than just a sentance or two!

My responses may be brief, but with the topics I've started I have gone into a bit more length. Look at the threads "I'm Like That" or "This Week On The Discovery Channel". Not only did I post quite a bit, but left it open for others to do the same. Granted, I'm like that has gotten a few hits, but the same can't be said for others. And yes, not going to post this in discussion. Not only is it the wrong place, but I would come off as trying to strong arm members into talking.

Well you got me to post didn't you? I think that we should have the forum set so only members can view the majority of forums. Maybe Amy's new story arch will bring in new members/posts?

True enough, this is the longest conversation I've had on this forum. But for that to occur, we would have to get the attention and approval of the people in charge of the forum. Yeah, a new story arc might do it, but we'll have to wait and see the outcome.

I know, at the forum I used to go too it was wayy too overcrowded, between each of our posts would be four or five responses of "what why are you talking to me like that?" You mean person in charge, since I think that Amy really wouldn't close the forums to members-only, from the way she talks about the forum she really wants it to be an open community. Oh don't say it like that! I'm anticipating another epic arch and saying it like that makes it seem so far away!

Since you seem to be relatively active, why not take a peek at some of my topics, you may even find something that catches your eye. And forcing people to join in order to read all the topics wouldn't be that bad. Registration only takes a minute.

I agree with the registration thingy, to see what I mean by "majority of forums" you might wanna look at this forum as a guest: kerorohq.spartalive.net/phpBB3/They only have News and Introductions open (tech support doesn't count lol we don't even have a forum for that)

*lurks* Oh, hi! Yeah, I kinda come in and see what's new when I can, but too often I have only a minute or two between other things so I don't respond right away. It might be like that for some people too...I dunno! I try to keep out of discussions and sit back and see what other people are saying, because I don't want to spoil the fun of speculations ^_^ I've mostly been sticking to answering non-spoiler questions, I wish I could get around to drawing for sketch requests again but...you know. True also I don't want to shut out any non-members also, ever since DD crashed in 2005 I've kept it pretty open to view but I think only members can post because we got so much spam before. At any rate the forums are open for viewing just in case we should have another accident with DD crashing again, since I temporarily hosted the recent pages of the arc that was going when the site crashed. I also used to like posting humorous rants but lately people have been taking them to be petulant rants so I've really cranked back on those. Nothing like getting a letter from a longtime reader telling you they've "lost respect" for you just because you wrote what you thought was a pretty funny rant in your author notes! *sigh* Yeah yeah, I know, it's my forum I can do what I want, but I rather not abuse the privilege

But we all need down-time you can always play rant in the mod forums! People take things too seriously, I swear every page we get a 'tard saying some smack to you that you don't deserve.
Hahaha Amy's our holy lurker rite?
I appreciate you not spoiling things ever! Ahhh your sketch thread makes me want to make a certain game thread now~

There are always people who complain about the work of others, some do it because they honestly don't care for your work while others do so simply out of spite and jealousy. I will say I find it ironic that I managed to attract the forum owner/lurker with my complaints about people lurking. But my cameo contest thread was replied in again so I'm feeling a little better. Seriously though all you other forum members, you need to stop lurking and reply to threads, that way I can go back to lurking, that is how the natural order will be restored.

Ya know whats funny Vagus? I was thinking the same thing about the inactivity in this forum. lol I've posted quite a few things on here and I notice that most people really don't log on. I've been really eager to here the opinions on the "CTV and UIU voice overs" post I made. I hope more people log on soon.

Oh kanida you give me such ideas, such as presenting the mention that we can "clean out" inactive accounts. But that's kinda cruel, but then again there being cruel to us, it shouldn't take out lurkers but just people who haven't been on in a year, and believe me I've seen people's websites and that they've been active, but not on here.

It's actually a shame that more people don't come on this forum, it's quite lovely compared to other forums. I've seen forums with people flaming each other and what not. But not here. ^.^

I'm sorry, I would have tried to reply sooner, but I'm actually on vacation right now ^^'''
I have to put in my own little piece on here..... I am very much interested by the topics people start here and I do love reading them, I've actually read every post made on this forum since I joined it with the exception of the games threads. The only reason I don't post in them is because I find myself with nothing to say.... I'm sorry for that. It used to be much more active, as I'm sure you've noticed, but the number of active members has gone way down and a lot of the older posters have found themselves too busy with their lives to come back. Feel free to send me a PM or anything else if you'd like to talk to me about anything, but know that I am an active member even if I don't do much posting outside the RP section.

Hm. I have noticed the inactivity here as well. I think that the problem is the lack of discussion about the comic. I mean, it is the main purpose and reason for existence of this forum. I've noticed that, on other forums that I lurk in (but don't post in) one of their strongest sections is the comic discussion one. I think that rp and games will be popular anywhere, but if you have a strong discussion about the comic than other people are willing to just talk about life or whatever in the general board, to learn more about the people with the fun theories. I think part of the problem lies in the fact that, since Charby is posted on a site where you can comment directly on the page, you lose a lot of discussion over here, where the normal page-discussion would otherwise take place. Out of those chats come more chats about a theory brought up in one of the page discussions, and it spirals from there. And, to be honest, a lot of our comic discussion right now is 'what would you do if you met' or 'what does so-and-so sound like', which on a busier forum might get a lot of responses, as they are entertaining but not particularly deep or thought-provoking. It's hard to post an essay about what Charby sounds like, and get people to actively argue it with you. I honestly think that more discussion of the ins and outs or theories relating to Charby's universe would help immensely.

My most popular thread is actually a rant where I complain about the inactivity of the forum. Can anyone else see the irony in this? Because this thread is full of iron.

Yes I can see it, no more irony people you'll drive all the Fey away!
I have to agree with Doodles though, I never really thought about the commenting that way, and there's arguments and discussions there and Amy tr- I mean talks there to people too *
So we need more comic discussion. Lets brainstorm then.
*I suddenly feel jelous at this realization >:E

Actually, the reason it's so quiet is all the former active members (Daybreak, Shippou, Scarecrow, Rehiro, Lorelai, me) left. And I'm only right now to check on something that has actually made me quite infuriated.
You should go look back through some of the older general threads. Ship was the main poster on the majority of those. We battled for the highest post count, and got it by contributing to the discussion and games and good roleplays like Bad Seeds and the FIRST free rp. The one on the beach that's probably been lost to the sands of time by now.
But Ship and Rehiro left because of some issues with the mods, and with two of the main rpers gone, the rps slowly died. Once that happened, Deebs (Daybreak) went off to college and didn't have much time anymore, Scarecrow just sort of vanished (I think due to family issues, maybe?), and Lorelai became really busy. I stayed the longest, but eventually, the state the boards have fallen to drove me away as well.
But insomnia makes me go find things that I KNOW will upset me, because I never learn. So, yeah. ... *shuts up as her bad mood is showing*
