Why in the world would they block it! GRRRRRR! My computer at home doesn't like to show comics! Now, i can only see the comics when my parents computer is free. (Which is never.) ARRRRGH! Awr.... *hugs* Well, I can hardly ever GET to my school computers, let alone use them. My comp at home has a real dark screen and some of the really cool parts of CTV I can't see 'cause they're all... dark. And stuff. So I hopes youse either find some way to get onto DD or get a computer upgrade. *sighs and sticks her tongue out at her Windows 98*

Well, I can still see them on the career center computers, but it's getting harder to sneak on to the website during class so I don't get in trouble. *sigh*

Well that suckscJust be glad that you donft live in Utah. The censorship is so strict that you canft access anything on the internet. Then again, what would you expect from a subculture that had the only government paid porn czar, had legal problems over editing Titanic, Has many edited video rental shops which includes an edited version of shrek, has black covers over gobjectionableh magazines in grocery stores, has a long list of banned books from school libraries that often includes Harry Potter, andcwell, I think you know what I mean.
Gosh darn I hate censorship, usually implemented by folk who just want to control the rights of others, at least when it is pushed to far. I am okay with the general guidelines of curtsey and the preset rules of a given site, I am the visitor on the site after all. It is just a lot harder to pinpoint the societies ratingcI mean I grew up in a PG society and felt stifled by it, the kind of place where high schoolers gasped when somebody said gdamn.h But I can tell you right now that I wouldnft feel very comfortable in a NC17 environment. Personal preferences, thatfs not who I am, and thus I donft frequent those sites or areas.
What really aggravates me about all this is the way certain people are simply removing the choice from others. Letfs take Howard Stern for an example, this is a simple case where if you donft like him you can change the radio station. Personally I never listened to him. But other people did, some were offended. Why those offended people demanded him off the air instead of changing the channel is beyond me. Same goes for video games, books, movies, and any other form of entertainment that you can choose from.
I could go on and on for hours really. Delving into more little examples and personal gripes, but I think Ifve gotten enough off my chest to relax. In the mean time be a rebel, watch rated pg13 movies, drink mountain due, and stay up past 11:00PM.

What? No Harry Potter? What is that all about? I know some people call them evil 'cause they have 'witches' in them. I suppose they think that J.K. Rowling wants girls to pray to the devil. I don't see why these people are allowed to talk, they're so stupid. SHE'S A WRITER, nothing more.

I'll tell you what that's about. That's about the Great Big Omnipotent Catholic Church and their influence over the USA's censorship commitees. You heard me, I said it. According to them, Harry's power (or all HP-type witches for that matter) does not come from God. Therefore, it is of the Devil. Cut 'n dried. Black 'n white. Gay people are horrible sinners. Goths are satanists. If you're not Christian, you go straight to hell, infidel. I'm going to stop now, before my bitterness and hatred consumes me and I burn a hole- wait. I think I've said all this before. Never mind and excuse me. (With apologies to all devoutly religious persons on the forums. I have nothing against you or your beliefs.)

Ah, stereotypes... Gotta love 'em. And by love 'em I mean, wonder why some are accepted or even praised, while others make you intolerant if you hold them.

Ah, stereotypes... Gotta love 'em. And by love 'em I mean, wonder why some are accepted or even praised, while others make you intolerant if you hold them. Probably just depends on who's looking at you. Course with some of the loudest voices in Christianity being the Christian Coalition and people like Pat Robertson I can understand the sentiment. Also doesnft help how influential some of those folks are to our government. Oh, and if you donft see those as extreme examples then your just on the other side of the spectrum than I. In Utah its not a stereotype, itfs how it actually is. Harry Potter is evil, the childrenfs book gwitchesh is banned, as is ga wrinkle in timeh. But it is important to note that it is not everyone. If one person feels strong enough to petition against something theyfll usually win. Most will agree and not try to stop it though. Daggertooth

Heh, obviously I should have spoken more wisely. : )
I have no problem with someone saying "Some Christians are intolerant," but I do have a problem when people take away that "some." In the same way, I have no problem with someone saying, just as an example, "Some gay men are effeminate," because hey, some of them are. But when a person says just "Gay men are effeminate," universally, either in so many words or by the way they treat homosexuals in general (say, by their jokes), then I think that is an unfair stereotype. That was half my point. My other half was that people discriminate on which stereotypes are acceptable and which are not. This may only be my personal experience, but it seems in the news media today that if someone says "Christianity is intolerant," nobody will get too upset (except Christians, heh). But then if someone says "Islam is intolerant," whoa whoa, you've crossed the line buddy, how dare you hold that awful stereotype? (again, if we throw in a well placed "some" in there, both of those would be OK) Do you see what I'm trying to get across? I will be the first to admit there are some pretty messed up Christians out there (if you want to see something pretty scary, just do a Google search for Fred Phelps... Bleh). I just don't like seeing anyone put in a box they don't belong in because of someone else's poor behavior.
Heh, I'm not a huge fan of Witches, but I sure don't think it should be banned... And Wrinkle in Time? Goodness. Almost makes me wish I lived in Utah, so I could write my congressperson or somethin'.

No, I'll just stick with sneaking on at the Career Center and getting on at home (Now that my computer has decided to show the comics...). I would end up getting expelled...(<--There are very few secrets at school...or at least, there are a lot of rumors at school...but then again, isn't that like most high schools?)and...I'm really not that much of a trouble maker... *COUGHtranslation:goodytwoshoesCOUGH* Thank you though...

In the interest of keeping with the topic of this thread(venting anger), I have my own issue to seethe about. Or two.
First off....GRRAAAADGHHH!!! ARGHABLE!!!! Why do the most vocal pagans have to be the most idiotic!? Why do they scream persecution at someone asking them not to insult christianity or it's beliefs!? Why is there such a fuss about non-christians having to see christian symbolism!? Dear Lady, it's everywhere, GET USED TO IT!! If you want equality, then rationally gather together and be a force to be reckoned with in a positive way! Don't just complain how much you have to hide- make it so you don't HAVE to hide! Besides that, it's these people who think that Wicca is a mix-n-match religion..."I'm a Satanic Wiccan!" If you claim to be this, then you are neither- they are seperate religions! (/vent).
Secondly....*FUME!!* TEENAGERS!!! ...~.~ I d'wanna imply I don't like them...just certain ones with no common sense...

Nothing in particular happened, these are just ongoing frustrations. Often, though, the two are linked. It's teenagers who like to be playgans that irritate me...but I've been dealing with some stubborn teenagers who keep insisting that they know everything. I acknowledge that I don't, but somehow, "Don't tell your teacher to (flake) off" doesn't register. That sort of thing. ^^; I'm fine. When I vent, I really do vent it all.

The funnest is when Christmas comes around and you have the politically correct people shouting happy holidays, the Christians shouting discrimination, the Jewish pushing the menorah, other theists trying to put their symbols next to the Jesus cradle, and atheists just decrying it all while enjoying the holidays. Not saying everyone does that, I certainly donft, but it does seem to get in the news a lot every year. Course you know me,,,ah, Festivus for the restivus. I can always vent during the gAiring of Grievances.h Daggertooth

You know what really gets me? The fact that I'm "not supposed" to call a "flight attendent" a steward or stewardess. Why? Because it's Sexist? Because it divides the two based on gender?
Oh, I see, then I guess we shouldn't be calling people "boys" and "girls" then, too. Oh, and "male" and "female" is right out then also. Just because it's scientific doesn't mean it doesn't offend. Gonna have to revamp the Spanish language, too. Can't have these "masculine" and "feminine" forms now.
It peeves me... I really loathe "politically correctness" with all these euphinisms...

Indeed. Especially since a lot of them aren't even accurate. Interestingly enough, a lot of (though certainly not all) "African Americans" were not born in Africa! They were born in America. In my mind, that makes them "Americans."
Another thing that bothers me with political correctness is you never know what will offend people. Some people are offended when you aren't PC, others are offended if you are!

Alright, i am -very- sorry to bring this back up, especially since this has already, finally died down...but I really need to vent. Plaese excuse the following, just skip over it, 'kay? Thanks. ^_^
------------
*ahem* Why why why can't people just let this subject die!?!?!? Sure, it's all nice and settled here, but over at the DiT forum, it is all getting stirred up again. The mods can't even explain themselves there, and people over there are being turned against this forum. I was really, really, really hoping that it wouldn't cross over to it, but nooooooooo...that would be asking too much! Why! *smashes head on keyboard* I'm just a member and this is upseting me. I can't even begin to imagine how Ryo or Amy or Zo or any of the other mods felt. Please, Shippo and Rehiro, just let it die! It is not as if he was banned forever. It was for a week. One little week! ARRRRRRRRRGGGGGGGGHHHHH!!!!!!*repeated smashing of head on keyboard*
------------------
Ok...like I said, please skip over this...I just needed to vent...

AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAARRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRGGGGGGGGGGGGG!!!!!!! So I'm training teaching kids right...and we have this little'uns. I think their about 4 years old. Two of them are great...they can even read english and can tell time off a face clock faster that I (I'm face clock illiterate. ) But then there is a third kid and he runs around all over the place, grabing the CD player...taking the CD's and banking them. Taking various teaching materials...climbing all over the teachers....and being a complete nusiance of himself. I really wanted to throttle the kid.....I mean he is a smart kid if he wasn't such a trouble maker. Must not go insane on second day..... ....Doesn't help that I have been out for 14 hours and only get paid for 5. The place is 2 and a half hours away plus I had a two hour break in between cause there was no class. The rest of the time was sitting in various trains trying not to fall asleep. Tomorrow is more of the same..... must...not....destroy....little...kids..... Daggertooth

Good lord, that's like babysitting...times 1000. I wish I could help...have you tried bribes? like..."sit still and listen for an hour and you get candy"? Those might work...of course, you would have to make a deal out of hearing of the other kids...or bring enough candy for all of them...

Candy is a baaaad Idea with children. Sugar highs just make them WORSE. Now what you need.... is chlorophorm. (Alright! New game! It's called "Does this rag smell like chlorophorm to you?"). Okay not really.
Just try to be patient and remember that the kid will likely grow up to be a delinquint ^_^ .... or try to help.
