Coal, noting Viktor's intrest, said to him, "yep, Melly can shapeshift. I'm surprised, though. She usually wouldn't be so scared of something like this," that last bit she said to herself. hmm... she thought, tappimg a claw on her chin. shrugging, she decided that Melly was probably still a little shaken about the news about Coal.

Dylan sighed. "It'll be all right, everyone. I know what I'm doing. I... I can't claim that this will be over soon, but I'll stick by all of you, seed or no seed, until we're through." He wrapped his hand around the vial hanging from his neck. "Warrior's honor." Come on, I'll bet Ginko will let us share her dinner if we reach her shop before dark.

Melody shivered and peeped miserably, but stopped huddling on Dylan's shoulder and hopped down to his hand. She looked from the vial to Dylan's face and peeped a question.

The odd young man got a sad, faraway look in his eye for a minute, before shaking his head slightly. "It's just something worth swearing by." He tucked it into his shirt without disturbing sparrow - Mel and headed towards the entrance to the market. "Common, we might as well get this over with."
(OOC: I think that Letti's on his shoulder right now, if anyone was wondering.)

Viktor nodded, and followed Dylan towards the entrance, now humming Pop goes the Weasel. Stopping suddenly, he angled his head towards Coal, much like a parrot would at a visitor. "What would Mellyellyelly-oh have to be afraid of?"

Coal sighed and said softly, "I don't know. I've never seen her like this." she thought about this for moment, then sighed again. "Come on Viktor, I think we're falling behind," she said quietly.

Nodding rapidly, the mechanical zombie took several long, ungainly steps, and caught up to Dylan. He started humming his favourite song... Although he didn't know where he had heard it... A haunted expression crossed his face as he stared into the distance and sighed.

Suka walked in a menacing way, sticking to the shadows. It felt very..... demony > ... She kept Mr. Bishounen in sight, just in case anything happened...

They all stepped into the market, and Dylan groaned inwardly. Of course it would have to be a fair day. He stared at the crowded streets and temporary stalls in dismay. "Well, I didn't expect this. On a postive note, we're far less noticable now." It was true - demons from all over were milling about, and many of them looked twice as strange as their group. In fact, Dylan probably stood out more than anyone, looking as human as he did.

Melly shivered and quickly switched from a sparrow to a mouse. she ran up Dylan's arm and cowered on his shoulder. Coal got off of Viktor's shoulder and hovered in front of Dy, Mel, and Letti. "What is the matter with you?" she demanded, forgetting to use thought speak in her confusion. I don't like crowds. Melody muttered. "Why ever not?" Coal replied. Melody was silent, shaking with fear. Coal sighed and went back to Viktor's shoulder.
(OOC: Melody gets like this after a bad shock. almost everything new scares her. it wears off eventually.)

A small elf boy burst through the croud with the carcuss of a small dead bird tucked under his arm like a football. Frantically flying across the ground, weaving through demons like he had the forces of hell at his heals he was closely followed by a large wolf demon wearing a bloody apron and brandishing a butcher knife, knocking demons this way and that in an attempt to catch up with him.
Wailing the words "somebody help meeeeeeee" the elf dove behind Dylan. He had matted, shaggy blonde hair and looked like he hadnt eaten in a weak. He wore a torn and ragged brown robe and sandals.
The butcher appeared before Dylan, shouting obscenities about the elf and demanding that Dylan turn him over.

"Woah there, friend!" Dylan caught the demon by his knife hand. "Keep waving that thing around and someone's going to get hurt." He moved so that the shoulder that held Letti and Mel was least exposed before fumbling around in his cape a minute. He pressed something into the butcher's hand and gave the stolen bird a critical look.
"It's more than that scrawny fowl is worth. Take some advice, too - don't bother chasing a thief that's smart enough to steal only what he needs. You've probably lost five better hens in the time you've wasted away from your booth." He gave the wolf-demon a look, then chuckled softly as he backed off and returned in the direction of his booth with only a quick glance at the money Dy had given him.
Yup, he hadn't lost his touch. It'd been a while since he'd stared down a demon that size.

Melody smelled the dead chicken and felt sick. before she could faint on Dylan and possibly change back to her natural form, she scrambled down. the moment she touched earth, she changed back to her natural form. turning slightly green, she gestured towards the dead bird. "Please, get rid of that," she said horsely, clutching her throat and swallowing compulsivly.

Garatrog stared wide-eyed at the wolf-demon until it had dissappeared from sight. Then, ignoring Melody, he launched himself into the bird. Tearing flesh and meat out of the body. Snarling and drooling and crouched over the bird without another glance at the people around him.
Garatrog had never felt so hungry in his entire life. Nor had food ever tasted so good. Pain sunk into this body far more easily than his last. He could probably have starved to death in his old body before he hurt so bad as this. The only thing that even slightly compensated for it was the immense amount of releif he felt as the pain began to leave him.

Dylan eyed Mel. "Will you be all right? I can't tell him he can't eat it, the boy's starving." Something was nagging at him about this boy. Curious, he lay a hand on Garatrog's shoulder. "Hey, kid, are you-" His sentence got cut short and Dy paled, using every bit of willpower he had to stop his wings from snapping open in surprise.
"...ow," he managed. He pulled his hand back and stared at the large gashes left in it by the thorns the other boy had suddenly grown. "Nevermind. That answered my question." He gulped and wrapped the cuts tightly in his loose shirt-sleeve. "I hope those aren't poisonous."

Melody turned away from the sickening display of blood, her hand now over her mouth. Coal, seeing her friend suffer so, flew to the boy and landed in front of him. "If you must eat the thing, can you at least do it somewhere where Melly can't smell it or hear you ripping into?" she asked, unable to keep disgust from her voice.

Viktor seemed completely unconcerned with the blood, and the elf-boy's voracious feasting on the dead bird, and crouched to the elf's height, only eye rather wide in curiousity. He made a strange humming noise, and blinked twice. Turning back to Dylan, he asked, "Is elfy-boy infect-tee-oned?" He leant in dangerously close to the scraggly blonde head, and pondered on poking it.

Garatrog was so hungry that he barely paid the voices any heed. It wasnt like him to ignore information but he had been so hungry... tears ran down his face. He never showed emotion like this in his old body. Never. And he had never allowed himself to sacrifice profit for personal pleasure. But nothing had ever sunk into him like this. Effect his mind so much as this. He continued to gorge himself on the bird.
But they wouldnt stop talking. Eventually it bothered him enough to lift his face from the bird corpse and shout "SILENCE".
But he found himself staring into the face of the ugliest, most mutilated thing he had ever seen in one piece. And he had mutilated some people pretty bad in his past. The hideousness of the creature did not disgust him but it did bring him back into a state of rationality "Wait, wuh?" he he inquired stupidly. He began to review what had been said to him in his head.
He looked over to his shoulder and saw the thorns growing out of it. He didnt know what to make of it. Could this body get any worse? If this was a new power then that would be great. It would be something to work with. Did the big axe wielding person do something to him? He didnt know what to make of it.
Garatrog pointed to the thorns "what is it?" he asked.

Suka could not help but be concerned. Eeew. That THING was really disgusting. But she felt sorry for the poor little theif. She glided over (gliding as in a descriptive way of walking), and peered at the gross planty. This elf boy.... Had something about him.... It reminded her of Moss...

Dylan shoved his damaged hand in his pocket and bent down to examine the thorns. "My friend, I'm afraid you've been infested by a seed from a demon plant. A particularly aggressive speciman, too. You're in luck - my companions and I are just on our way to see someone about this particular problem." His eyes sparkled and he smiled a little. "And for a bit of supper."

A pang of hunger ran through Garatrog. He wanted to launch himself back at the bird but did not. He had to learn to be a man and control these disgusting distractions.
"Tell me everything you know about this plant" he said to Dylan, deciding on profit over impulse.

Dylan examined the kid with a calculating eye for a minute, almost said something, then cleared his throat and started again. "Not... much. Which is why we are visiting Ginko, who's here at this market. I won't force you to come along, but I highly recommend it."

Melody took a deep breath, and then another, before she could turn around completely. she walked back to Dylan, determindly keeping her eyes away from the boy. She was still a little pale, but no longer worried about fainting. Coal looked over at her friend, but didn't move from where she was sitting. You okay? she asked Melody, still a little concerned about her. Melody nodded and smiled wanely before turning back to Dylan. "what's going on?" she asked softly, still not looking at the bird or the boy.

Again. Garatrog paid no attention to Melody. He stood up and slung the partially eaten chicken over his shoulder and looked Dylan in the eye "How do I know you wont poison me?" he demanded.

Dylan ran a hand along his axe absently, glancing over at Mel with an encouraging smile. "He's a seed carrier. Of course, it's up to him if he wants to come along," he gave a sideways, bird-like look at Garatrog, "and if I wished you harm, it would have been far easier for me to hand you over to that butcher. Don't you agree?" His voice and tone were mild, but something about him seemed to suggest that he was entirely serious. Ginko would not be pleased if they interrupted her after she had closed shop, and frankly they were running out of time.

But what if they wanted to take him, Garatrog, Treeborn general and enemy to all of these disgusting lesser creatures for their own personal glory? What if the seed was a tactic to get him to cooperate?
"But what if you-" he stopped when he realized that he wasnt supposed to give that information away. If they didnt know now, they would obviously know if he told them "allright i'll come" he finished.

He wanted to ask what the boy's unspoken concern was, but he noted the position of the sun in the sky and motioned to everyone, relieved. "Okay, good. This way, and hurry. Last I checked, she closed around this time."

Viktor limped along in the direction indicated, and then stopped abruptly. "Wait wait wait..." he appeared to be in deep thought... If thought was what you could call it. "Planty-thing ended up on my hand with I poked-ed the little faery-girl... And then turned up when Mister Dylan patted Mister Scraggly-elf-boy on the shoulder. Does this mean that Mister Dylan is also a seed-carrier?"

Dylan was distracted with trying to find the shop and replied without thinking. "Hm? Oh, no. The boy just has a more developed seed than yours and it considered me a threat when I tried to interrupt its host's feeding. It's rather aggressive, which can happen if the host has a volitile personality. I don't have a seed any-" he came to himself and tried to cover the last part with a cough. "Uhm, it's right through there, see? The entrance is next to that candy cart there."
