In distant wilds, a flower grew - the single member of its species. None saw it or knew of its presence, for no mortal had ever travelled to the deep woods where it grew. Only those with knowledge of ancient tongues and legends might recall its name. It had nosed its way through the soil without the aid of light, and stood with its bud about to burst.It was a flower that hadn't bloomed in thousands of years.
It is time! And the bud burst open, propelling tiny seeds into the air. Many would never leave this forest, but a few were caught in the faint puffs of air that reached the forest floor, and were carried above the trees. They scattered across the land, across the world, searching for a place to take root.
A host.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Dylan was travelling down a quiet little path that had just cut into the woods. It was mid-morning, and the day was turning out rather warm, so he welcomed the shade of the trees. Really, black feathers could get pretty warm after a while.
He was singing under his breath. Not impressively, but his voice was somewhat melodic, and it was good company when it was all he had to listen to. A foreboding feeling had been weighing on his mind for a few days now, but the nice day had banished his worries for the time being.
Viktor was very pleased with himself. He had put the remnants of his shattered mind together for much longer than he had ever managed before, and had climbed a tree without impaling any of the adorable fuzzy things that he so fervently chased. He held one in his glovelike left hand, and the poor creature was wide eyed, and shaking in terror. This... Thing had captured him, and was now stroking his head softly, and happily humming a tune that altered between Vivaldi's spring concerto, and the black socks song. It had named the poor squirrel Sabrina.
Suddenly, Viktor froze, and the furry creature took the oppurtunity to make a daring escape, although the zombie no long cared. Something... Not good was going to happen. Viktor covered his head, and cowered briefly, staring at the forest floor. Remarkably, it was getting closer. Fast. The mechanical zombiecurled into a ball, bracing himself for the thud... But it never came.
He looked up. Had his belief in cartoons finally payed off? Yes! It had! Viktor cackled gleefully as he hung, suspended in mid air. A passing faery sighed, and shrugged, before carrying on her buisness. She hadn't the heart to tell him his claws were stuck in the tree.
Hearing something large moving about in the trees up ahead, Dylan instinctively became cautious. He snuck soundlessly along the edge of the path until he found...
The boy blinked. Then shook his head, rubbed his eyes, and blinked again. Nope, didn't make a difference. He set his battleaxe down gently and walked over to stand under the tree, clearing his throat politely. "Could you, ah, use some help there, friend?"
Viktor grinned. He had just gotten here, and he had allready made a friend! Happy! He grinned. "Greetings! Salutations! Well met! Hi! Hello!" and then, as he fell out of the tree, and onto the root choked ground, "My name is... Viktor? Yes... It was Viktor, wasn't it?" a dazed expression took over his mobile features. and then, he smiled. "Yes... It is Viktor." he shook himself awake, and then reached out with his claw to shake your hand, before realising which hand he was using, and grinning sheepishly, held out the glove. OOC. Pay Viktor no heed... He fades in and out...
A bit taken aback by this odd and enthusiastic introduction, Dylan forgot to respond for a few seconds. "Uh, oh! Okay, Viktor. Nice to meet you. I'm Dylan." He took the offered glove in a firm handshake. "So... what are you doing out here?"
The blue haired zombie appeared puzzled. Why was he here, anyway. He distinctly remembered chasing a squirrel. It was named Sabrina, and had a target on it's back. He had tailed it for quite a while... And he definately remembered an ordeal that had something to do with a hat named Quentin... But he decided not to mention that. Even his friends reacted to his everyday life in different ways... They were weird like that. "Umm... I'm lost."
Suka crouched with her katanas, waiting for the zombeh of doom to drop his guard... Wait... he... Doesn't have a guard.... Oh..... Well.... Why was she thinking with lots of dots?... Suka didn't know...
"ORIYYYYYAAAAH!" Suka leaped out, attaching her fangs to the zombie's head. Eew. He tasted bad. Like a carcass... Wait. He WAS a carcass. Oh well. Through the bite she shouted:
"Evil ... ... ... Umm. ... ... .... THINGIE! SURRENDER! The great Suka has come to stop you from terrorizing this innocent human... Umm... OF DOOM! With your taste of carcassness! And a slight hint of lemon! DIEEEE!"
Viktor whipped his head around, and seemed to be looking for where the voice was coming from. He could feel a curious stinging on his head, but he never connected the two. Wait... Carcass? The zombie squeeked. Loudly. Fine... It was more of a shrill, really. "Carcass?! Where?!"
Suka unlatched her jaw.
"You, silly! You're dead! You.... Zombie! OF DOOM!"
She pointed dramatiacally
Viktor turned his neck at an odd angle, and crouched down to her height. He raised an eyebrow, and blinked. (Or half blinked, or winked, depending on how you look at it, as his right eye can only half close.) "Dead? Me?" he pondered on it for a mere instant, before standing up abruptly, and exclaimed, "Hah! You're funny. Dead... How could I be dead? I'm... Breathing, aren't I?" He poked himself in the chest to make sure, and then looked at Suka suddenly, taking particular intrest in her ears. He made a noise something like "mimblewimble-PURPLE," and then narrowed his eye into a slit. "Small and furry creature... But it talks like a person. Who are you, small furry human-ee- type thing?"
Dylan nodded "Actually, I would like to know that as well, miss. Oh, and it isn't really polite to go around attacking strangers." He smiled disarmingly and picked up his axe from where he had leaned it against a tree. "But I suppose you have a reason." He found it odd that he was suddenly meeting new people on a lonely little forest road - and such interesting people besides. He kept an especially close eye on Viktor. Something wasn't right here, and it wasn't just the zombie's... odd state of mind.
Viktot appeared dazed for a moment, staring at her delightfully furry ears. Wait... Furry... Small... Oople? He unconsiously decided not to Rest his mind on anything for too long... Resting was for the dead. He wasn't dead. Not in the least... Still moving, still breathing... Still thinking clearly. He stared at the tree, and wondered whether THEY were hiding in the branches, lurking, and about to go off... He shuddered visably, before brightening up once more, and poking Suka's left ear lightly with his glovelike left hand, drawing it sharply away, as if he expected her to bite.
" a small creature walks on the ground carrying around a big coin, she is a bit unstable since the coin is way to heavy '- Aiyaaa! Onda mynt! ' she muttered and continued until she fell over something big ( Dylans foot ) "
- Yipe!
" she falls and the coin rolls away, she makes a big dramatical sigh and kicks the foot "
-Stupid Stone! uh.. stones shouldnt have legs..
" she looks up at the others and smiles sweatly, then she notices suka and squells out of joy "
- Kiaaaaaah!
" she hurries up on her shoulder and smiles and makes small pathetic tries to hug her, since her arms is so small she dont suceed to well"
- Sukasukasuka!
" after having a rush of happiness she notices that there are more people around, she waves and realises that this wasnt a happy group really... "
- Uhm.. hi?
Dylan rubbed his foot and chuckled. "Hm, that was an impressive kick for such a little fairy." He bent down to pick up the coin and polished it on his sleeve. "Here you go, you probably don't want to loose this." The fairy knew the fox girl - now that was interesting. Everything was becoming entirely too coincidental for his tastes.
So they did know eachother. Well, well. Where did a half fox-demon meet a fairy? As far as he knew, the races weren't on particularly friendly terms, but he did tend to loose track after a few centuries. His stomach growled. "Well, I don't see why we can't have introductions over a mid-morning snack. Here, I think I have enough for everyone." He reached under his 'feathered cloak' and brought out his bag of supplies.
So it had food, did it? The axe-hefting person seemed friendly enough, and Viktor was never one to be suspicious. The furry-demony-type-thing however, seemed to be convinced that Viktor was Dead, which was simply rediculous... If he was Dead, how could he be moving...
His mind and voice box made an attempt to agree on what to say, and failed. "Ooh! Does it have custard, pleez?"
Dylan raised an eyebrow up at Viktor. This had to be one of the most interesting minds he had ever met. In fact, he was beginning to remind Dy painfully of Opal. But then again, Opal was a bit more insane and a lot more morbid. "I'm afraid custard doesn't travel well. Will trail mix do?" He held up the bag, and emptied the rest onto the ground as he did (thankfully it was all wrapped). He had some dried meat, hard bread, and some squashed berries he had picked the day before.
Viktor looked in several different directions, before realising that the furry-girl was addressing him. This meant that his head twisted to a rather... Unnatural angle. "Zombie?" It wasn't the question it's self that had unnerved him, but the fact that she had called him a zombie. Generally when someone called him such, it meant that they were about to chase after him with pointy things, and flaming torches. He unconsiously cringed away, and whimpered.
Dylan's smile was starting to look a little forced as he set up the food and gathered together things to start a fire. "Miss, kindly stop bullying Viktor. As far as I'm concerned, a creature that's up and walking around can't be considered dead -" he paused and softly muttered a strange, ancient word that made black flames spring to life from the firewood "- and I'm sure we're all hungry. There's plenty for everyone, just let me-YIPE" He pulled his hand back from the flame and sucked on the finger he hadn't been watching. Darn thing landed right on a burning stick.
He hoped no one had noticed his 'cape' jerk when he'd burned himself.
Viktor turned his short attention span on the fae for a moment. It certainly was a strange one, thought he... But it was cute, and it spoke funny! Viktor gave it a slight poke with the index finger of his gloved hand. "What kinda faery is it?"
A soft, greenish glow began to surround the two slowly, causing Dylan to drop his supply bag on the fire, which immediately went out. Was he the only one who saw that?
Well, he was sure he didn't imagine the sprout that poked its way up from Viktor's hand. "Ah... is that normal?" He had a sinking feeling that he knew what that plant was, and that he knew what was causing the strangeness he had sensed.
Melody stopped, cocking her head. "Coal, do you hear that?" she asked the little dragon beside her. Coal nodded. Melody walked towards the voices and hid behind a tree when she reached the odd little group on the path.Coal, do you think they are friendly? she asked the little dragon telepathically. Coal shrugged. We won't know until we go out there, she replied. Alright, Melody said. She stepped out of the trees in time to see a plant growing out of the zombie's hand.
Viktor stared at the strange new growth on his good hand. He wasn't sure he liked it... "Hsss... I haven't been standing still that long, have I...?" he appeared worried, and glanced around at his new found camp-mates. Immediately, his blue-grey features burst... No, exploded into a wide grin and high pitched laughter. He was releaved, of course. He hadn't fallen asleep for too long...
He waved his hand about, and thrust it towards Dylan, whom seemed to know more about it than he did... Or at least he had said something in his general direction, therefore placing himself in Viktor's rapidly dwindling interest. "What is?"
"I apologize, but I am being paid to... What is happening to your hand?!"
