I don't know about anyone else but I am sick and tired of Drunk Dunk crashing all the time. I am also familiar with other Web-comics far less popular than this one that have been known to collect $1000+ with an original art auction or wallpaper war.
Amy if you would start such a fundraiser I promise to immediately pledge at least $20. I also ask anyone who posts in this thread to cite a pledge amount they would give if they agree with me. To give Amy an idea if this would be practical or not.

I can't pledge money... But I'd be willing to support in any way possible!

Yeah I'm unemployed and have no income and my parents are stingy... However, there are many, many more people that read the comic and don't come on the forum that I'm sure would give lots.
I could make the web site, though! I'm learning how to do that, and it would be the only way I can think of to contribute.

I can't pledge money either. Sorry. I'd be willing to purchase merchandise, and I might be able to get involved in an auction, but I can't promise anything.

Well, I have been known to contribute money to webcomics on odd occasions (usually in $5 amounts). I might suggest Amelius applying for Xepher.net hosting (currently hosting several other webcomics); if she was accepted it is free (donation supported), ad-free, reliable, and high performance. I agree, DrunkDuck is driving me mad as well.

yeah, as annoying as the downtime is, I can't stay too mad, since the problem is resting on their webhost and not DD itself. This is what happened last time too, Geekside hosting went down and dragged their feet getting things back in order and were annoyingly unavaialble to say what the problem was. DD switched to a new server not too long ago and had to go back to GS because of the massive problems the new one caused. They've been in a bit of a stich with that, but a lot of people left DD after the first crash. I'm stubbornly loyal I guess, despite the downtime DD has been pretty good to me so I'm not quite willing to move yet...(plus it has given me a little extra time to work too^_^) My father however has been pushimg me to get a donation thing up, but neither of my parents have made a move for it to even start (I have to get a checking account first) I am willing to do commissioned work or whatnot too since I don't like getting something for nothing (I know, but personally I don't think my own work is worth al that much at this point) As for original art from the comics, well, it's a trainwreck the way I draw them. Nothing is in order!
That is fine though that you don't have money to donate, your support has been more than enough for me and I really couldn't ask for more from any of you!
Oh, and I'm putting a few new t-shirt designs in my forum by the way. Still open for suggestions!

Yuo are way too sweet, kind, and modest.
Honestly, I've seen people pay thousands of dollars for work that looked like a two-year old painted it. Scratch that, I've seen people pay thousands of dollars for work that two-year olds actually DID paint.
I'd be willing to buy anything you sell, Amelius. Your work amazes me, and I'd be glad to support in any way I can. Kindness and understanding from your audience are nice, but they don't buy the artist food, clothing, or shelter.

Although I am unemployed now, I do have 3 interviews scheduled this week...hopefully soon I will be able to contribute. I do have a credit card, but I am pretty close to my limit right now.

Ah, so Geekside is the root of DrunkDuck's problems. Is it just me or is Geekside running Postnuke? (the most recent Archive copy I could pull up is from Sep 24, 2004, but Google's match for Geekside.com is "Fatal error" - etc.) I've heard it rumored that Postnuke is fairly crack-prone. On the other hand, not even their namesevers (ns1.geekside.com and ns2.geekside.com) are responding. Kind of reminds me of why I moved from Simplenet to Pair Networks webhosting with my site - Simplenet was down on occasion and finally lost a day's worth of my e-mail.

On the subject of servers, I'd suggest Keenspot or Keenspace, though seem to crash fairly often as well. Though not nearly as regularly as DD. There's also 00Freehost, but I'm not sure wheter or not they're 'code-only'. There are a few other free servers out there. And there's always Geocities as a backup.

Hey Amy. Any chance of publishing the stuff you have? You could take pre-orders first, of course.
Thanks!
