I posted this in the FAQ section, but I thought afterwards that it would do better here. How is it that Vic's brother was bitten by a vampire winner dog and yet he became a werewolf? How does vampire venom = werewolf venom? Anyone care to explain this to me?, 'cause it's been driving me mad.

A wizard did it.
J/K I think he actually turned into more of a "were-vampiredog". But yeah, doesn't make much sense does it. EXPLAIN!

Here's what I think happened.
Because it is a vampire-dog, when Hector got bit, the fact it was a DOG imbuded with magic/virus/whatever ya wanna call it, caused him to be a werewolf instead.
@__@ If that makes sense.

jairestrongclaw, you're pretty close with that one I must admit! There was a little more to it, which I may explain by way of a short story, but I wanted to establish that interspecies vampirism does have odd affects. Also, as Hollywood and many "vampire " writers conveniently forget, werewolves and vampires in mythology were not "mortal enemies" but were rather closely related. An unsuccessfully killed vampire could come back as a werewolf and vice versa. It's only "modern mythology" that has bungled up this part, because "oh my gosh they hate each other to undeath, so epic!" seems to amuse most people (I'm a little tired of it, and in Rosemary's case it's not so much that she has something against werewolves, just Menu.)
Stinger9 and Spikey are close with this one too, I was thinking Hector has the misfortune of being a sort of werewolf-vampire hybrid, and instead of looking "awesome" like most would assume, he looks stupid. Unfortunately the movie Underworld tried this concept too, to EPICLY LAME proportions!

If I'm not mistaken, vampires originally turned into wolves, NOT bats. But when blood lapping bats where discovered....suddenly people thought Bat=Vampire. >>
