As my title would indicate, I love me some books. Reading is my primary form of entertainment; combined with the fact that I'm a bit of a speed reader results me in burning through book series like no one's business (except for perhaps bookstores, it would be their business). As such, I frequently need to find new series to read to keep myself from going crazy(er). Here's where you lot come in. I'm always looking for suggestions for new books to read and I want to hear some opinions on stuff that isn't terrible. My literary preferences lean towards Fantasy, Comedy, Horror and Mystery. Certain example series that I've read include Dresden Files, Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy, Sherlock Holmes, the works of Lovecraft, Thursday Next series, Robert Asprin's Myth series, Lord of the Rings, the Elenium and Tamuli series, the Green Rider series and far, far more. I'll probably dust off the Xanth series once I finish the Greywalker series that I'm currently reading. I'm also considering the Temperance Brennan books.
So, read any good books lately?

Oh god books. I can talk about books forever.
Anything by Tamora Pierce is fabulous. Kirsten (or Kristen, I'm not sure and the bookcase is all the way on the other side of the room) Cashore is a relatively new (for me) author - Graceling is great, Fire and Bitterblue and also great but can be a bit... triggering. Same warning goes for one of my all time favorite books, Deerskin. Great book, but very sensitive subject matter. THe Black Swan, also great, also has a small section that would fall under sensitive subject matter.
...
And these are just things I've read in the past two weeks. I love reading. If you want some less triggering books, I can rattle off some of those as well. And I don't recall anything in that vein from Tamora Pierce aside from like... one line in one book about a past event. If you like books about video games, Rapture is really good. I was on a huge bioshock kick for a while that got restarted by reading it.
You maaaay have noticed a them in my choice of books, with the exception of Rapture - I'm a sucker for a good books with female heroines. I will admit to being a bit stuck in a rut at the moment. I haven't bought a new book in ages.

Nothing wrong with strong heroines. Frankly I wish more series had them. If you want some suggestions as well, you might like Thursday Next- A series done in a similar vein to Hitchhikers Guide, lots of goofy situations and bad jokes. The titular character is basically a librarian with a badge and gun. Greywalker- A Mystery Fantasy. The main character Harper Blaine is a normal PI, until she gets killed one day. When she wakes up, she finds that she can now see into the Grey, the realm of ghosts and other supernatural doodads. Black Lagoon- This one is a manga, so far warning if that isn't your cup of tea. The author obviously had a thing for badass chicks, as this series has no shortage of them. The ladies run the gamut from assassins, gun-running nuns and heads of the local Russian mafia.

I love manga, though I've got three or four series I should start getting books for again there. XD They're just not as satisfying to read at lunch breaks and what not, since I generally breeze through one of those in fifteen to thirty minutes. But I shall definitely add those books to my list of new ones. ^^

The Abhorsen Trilogy by Garth Nix is one of my favorites, so I'd recommend that and it falls under fantasy. Fairly short, but it's worth a read in my opinion. I really ought to read more but I can't seem to find the time anymore.... kinda sad to me, since I do so enjoy a good read....
