I was pondering mindlessly as happens, well, most of the time and I wondered.
How much space does Mannick have in his dimension. If he stored a lake would all his hats come out wet?
He almost swallowed a pillow. I wonder if he's ever used it for storage?
Also, not sure if I mentioned it before, but it responds to him. Are the hands part of a symbiote, or is it a conscious, or perhaps even subconscious part of him, kinda like moving your arm - you don't say how, you just say where, or even more subtle - like your heart - you don't tell it to beat, it just does.

A good question. I'd assume the answer would depend on what topography the hat dimension actually has. As for the second issue, it might be a bit closer to breathing, where he has some control, but it's involuntary, for the most part.

I like to think it pulls them from the dimension of hats we learned about in Cwen's Quest.

Ooo, good questions that I'm not sure if I can answer right now! Well, there's a page (I have already pencilled halfway even!) that miiiiight explain most of this. I'm really looking forward to it And yes the hat dimension he reaches into is indeed the one from Cwen OH, and if I may... expose you to a little bit of my inspiration to the character, if you haven't seen it already (and since it's appropriate to bring this up considering a movie coming out...) Check out John Carpenter's "The Thing" and see if anything looks familiar about it. Avoid the movie coming out calling itself "The Thing", it looks like a jump-scare loaded piece of junk that completely misses the point of what made "The Thing" work. UGH! I have a hefty load of complaints regarding this "prequel" which I'll spare you for now. But seriously, watch the original... and I recommend the classic based on the same story, "The Thing from Another World", has pretty good special effects considering when it came out! I'm not saying Mannick is a Thing-beast or anything though... *whistles innocently, or rather attempts to whistle but totally sucks at whistling*

Well, if it's all kept canonical, they would have to be the same hat dimension.
But now that you mention the connection to 'The Thing', I finally understand why everybody else is justafiably grossed out by his belly portal.
As for what Mannick is, anybody who's delved into the deep dark trenches of the forums past discussions should have some insight into that. He's a changeling demon of sorts, who was born different, and uses hats as a focus for his ability. I can't say I recall anything more specific than that, though.
