Okay, so this train of thought occurs to me... Can elites "heal" their hair? First off, when Claire regenerated her lopped off head, her hair came with it, so I can assume so, but it came back in the same length. Does this mean that Elites are permanently stuck with one hair length? If one cut their hair, would it heal or set to a new default? If their hair was burned off? Healing is involuntary, right? Would one need to consciously prevent their hair from growing back to maintain a different length of hair? Did Charby ever need a haircut? If they could alter that aspect of their "default" appearance, could they not alter more than that? They heal limbs and whatnot, even after circumstances prevent it. Then, of course, this could tie in with the "death" thing, in that hair is not living tissue. But then, neither is skin, soooooo... I dunno. What's more, if they are, in fact, dead, why would they need any vital organs? I don't know if it has been said or not if Elites are biologically alive, what with the heart beating stuff, but it reases some questions. Of course, I go off and ask the most ridiculous one.
The minimally confusing assumption would be that whatever their appearance was like when they were turned, that's what it'll always be like.

I think some of it gets a designer makeover (Charby didn't have horn-hair before he was turned), but he mentioned at this birthday that his hair horns aren't optional. Although he does seem to retain control over the rest. When Benito picks them up for the party he's combed the middle bit. I'm not sure about the impact of being shorn, but if it reforms with the head, it is likely to reform if you cut just a little of it.

Combing and whatnot is clearly shown to be possible. I knew about Charby's hair point things being not-optional, but he's the only case I've seen thus far, so he could be unique in it. I suppose, more than an actual question, this is a musing with desire for conformation.

Charby also healed his exploded head. I think it's based on mass damage. If it's something pointless like hair, then it'll grow at a normal rate, but if it's an entire head then it'll all go back to normal to allow the elite to do what they want with it. It brings up the issue of Zerlocke being tortured as well. He was stabbed in the head many times, so his hair seemed to have gone back to normal after the mass damage.

And that head explosion... He appeared to suffer somewhat from a bit of his brain not being there. Why would that be, unless his brain is needed on some biological level? Is his vampiric "magic" using his brain's consciousness, because he has no soul? See, these are more important questions. On what level do biology and magic intertwine?

Rather freakily, the same thought occured to me. He punched Zeno even though he was missing a head. If he doesn't have a spirit, he must have something, although Zerlocke's lecture did mention it wasnt quite the same.

Indeed. The punching too. Could that have been automatic self defense? Or was he fully aware of it at the time?

Hehe, without getting too in over my head, Jetylefr has the right of it with "mass damage". ( I admit, i was faltering for the right term to use but that's it right there!)

I see, I see... So... Their hair normally grows at a regular rate then?

>:[ Such a cutting remark... I'll grant you plaudits for guessing the answer to my question, but I don't take lightly my devotion to ANYTHING of which I am a fan. If anything, considering the numerous possible cases in the first place should prove my enthusiasm. *sigh* But, I'm sure you meant it merely in jest. Still, coming from you, it's rather insulting, even if it wasn't meant to be.

*shrug* Idk. I'm just sayin' because of our natural competitiveness, your remarks may be taken more seriously than intended. But whatever. Don't think I'm as obsessed as I make myself out to be. It's more for my own amusement, really.
