Okay, so a while ago, I won some sketches from this guy, rtil, on DA by voting in a contest he was in(and no, he didn't just ask for people to vote for him, in fact he encouraged voting for other entrants) and what I asked for, for one of them, was an alp, but, of course, he'd not head of them before, and I knew this. I wanted to see what he'd come up with based on just a description(and I do believe I gave a rather good one), and I was quite satisfied with the result: i1215.photobucket.com/albums/cc518/the1truesushiboy/BertholdtheBaleful.jpgI named him Berthold. Berthold the Baleful. Myep. Here's the other one, for those interested: i1215.photobucket.com/albums/cc518/the1truesushiboy/DeathoftheEndless.jpg500 points goes to whomever can tell me who it is. Check out his other stuff too. I wouldn't have gotten these sketches if I weren't a fan. rtil.deviantart.com/

eet's Deeeeath from Sandman! Haven't read it myself, but that's the only character from it I know, hehe That is an awesome sketch, it reminds me a little of a video game character somewhat! I'm glad you asked them, it's always marvelous to see another person's take on the creature! (as long as it isn't something really cliche like I see too often, haha!)

That's an interesting take on an alp. The nice thing about asking someone out of the blue is they have to improvise and you get a lot of fresh concept.

And Amelius wins 500 points! And 100 bonus point for knowing who it was without even having read the book. I actually haven't read it either, BUT I have read the manga style comic "Death: At Death's Door", a story taking place during "Season of Mists." The idea of death being portrayed as a living female as opposed to a skeletal [presumably] male hooded figure was, I thought, a fantastic concept. I've actually incorporated it partially into my own story (though she's not a main character). But anyway, I'm starting to ramble.
So, on the alp, IF I ever EVENTUALLY manage to get my webcomic concept up and running (artist needed if anybody out there is interested and willing to do it for free), this alp inspired the design for one of my alp characters (there are two). I've actually got a few ideas regarding the nature of alps and the whole hat thing. Seeing as there's not a lot of info available, I've built upon it, based on the themes of magic in the story. Don't worry, though; I've kept true to what an alp is supposed to be. Uuummm... I guess I'm still rambling a bit... I guess it's hard not to when you're talking about the inspiration behind an entire world you've got in your head. Although, maybe that's just me...
