Apperantly, Q can see through those eyeslits, even if his eyes are closed. If this is true, does it follow through to Kavonn and LaBelle? Cuz, I mean, If you look at Kavonn's eyes, those tear-trail things extend almost to his mouth! And how does that work... Are those his eyeballs still? His head must be mostly eyesocket, then... and... and... this is why I don't think about those things. I can't stop... >.<
One more thing... when the Elites focus on something, they appear to have pupils. Is this visible to other characters within the CTV universe, or just for us readers? If they DO get pupils when they focus, how does that work? Is it like a regular pupil in that it contracts in certain circumstances (like feeling really angry) and that contraction is what causes the visibility? I can't stop... Is it like some kind of membrane in the Elite eye that does this or something? Because sometimes we only get a suggestion of a dot, and other times the shine goes out of the eye and we get pupils...

As far as I am aware, Kavonn can see through his eye slits as well, but for Labelle, it isn't as clear? And yes, those are still his eyes. The bone has been "cut away" from what the hat did to him. As for the eyes, here is Amy's explanation from a comment on the comic: The simplest explanation is that indeed, it is one half a mood thing and one half cartoony exaggeration! This has been a trait of Charby's (and other elites o'course) since day one, and day one started off with a different style indeed! Back when it was simpler, taking the "gleam" out of Charby's eyes added for a larger range of expressions, something I needed back when his mouth was receding under his face and he had no chin! It was a stylistic choice, and one I thought to be rather unique at the time. And as for the, let's say, more detailed idea of what's going on with those eyeballs? Well, even then I had in my mind the idea that usually his pupils are reeeeeally dilated, and only expressions where he's surprised/angry force the pigment of his eyes together in a more visible way, darkening as they pool into the center as it contracts. Kinda like in real life, our pupils tend to condense when we see something that repulses us, but of course with a bit of cartoon exaggeration coming into play! Also, praying mantis eyes were the inspiration for Elite's eyes! Like this en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Bogomol.jpgand this! en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Zorak-Mantis.pngSo Charby (and other elites) have the default/mellow "shiny" mode, the "argh!" tiny-pupil mode, a combination of both of these, and then just dull non-shiny non-pupil eyes (which admittedly I don't use much anymore) Oh yes, and swirly hypno-mode, lest I forget! As for the 4th panel, he's got a "incredulous" look in his eyes. The highlights I usually put around them are more visible in that panel than the others, because they aren't lost in the shadows :) In panel 7 however, he's rolling his eyes which is hard to show with his shiny eyes, but yeah he's also kinda annoyed to be agreeing with what Phineas said!

And you have! To be honest, I feel a little silly having missed something like that. I have questions like that from time to time that are answered by going back and taking a closer look at the source material. >.< So, thank you, and I hope you continue to have patience with me!

I hope you continue to have questions I can answer, even if the answers may have been stated previously. It makes me feel all smart 'n' stuff.
