Hurray for 'V for Vendetta'! Such a great movie. The one problem with it is that the mask he wears is far too expensive for me to buy one. : (

I`m Alydos, people tend to call me Sub for short, and I am so armed in modesty you all shall bow before me as the idle wind before a mountain! I didn`t think I would have to put such a small introduction into the new members thread, which, just appeared from nowhere.
Favorites / Least favorites
Candy: N/A, Dislike all sweet things.
Food: Potato Salad / Sour Cream? Anything creamy
Animals: Kittens, they`re fat-free / "noobs"
Colors: Red and Purple / Yellow
Pants: Khaki's, they come in rainbows of colors. / Short, shorts, they`re.. short!
shirt: Red or Black, long-sleeved. / small ones
Vegetable: Rhubarb, which is definitely a vegetable. / Okra
Celebrity: Orson Welles / Scott Thompson
Singer/songwriter: Point me to some nice ones / I can`t say, I don`t know because I don`t like it.
Band: Power Rangers Band! They make music that reminds me of innocence. / Some western one
Song: All / any
Cheese: Um, Provolone, I guess. / swiss
Music video: Shingo has music, I swear! Fine.. then UHF, because he ate the ham, even though he`s a vegetarian. / not sure
Movie: The Transformers: The Movie; the good guys are slaughtered so badly the bad guys have to throw themselves upon the sun's inner mysteries to give let them even think that they might win. / There are.. many indeed, how about a book instead. Shadowmancer.
Fruit: Potato, see above / peaches, or apple-pears, some things don`t mix.
Cartoon: Thunder Cats / Aqua Teen Hunger Force
Cartoon character: Soundwave / Dr. Claw
Element: Water / Fire
Weather: Rainy / Hot Word (in any language): Pusillanimous or Transcended / none
Place: Park / Big city
Shoe: walking shoes / sandal shoes
Random stuff: Perhaps I`m not a random person, I bet you never thought of that!
One thing you are proud of: Nothing, I see everything as a double-edged sword, pessimistic, yet optimistic. I like my content with life, but I am not proud of the lack of will to change what it brings.
An embarrassing moment: When I tried to clean up and put weights away at the same time and I dropped a twenty-five pound weight, well, you can guess the rest; I`m very good at one-legged hopping now.
Little known fact about youse: I aspire to help other people realize their aspirations.
Something that inspires you: CTV; curiosity
Something that angers you: Let's pretend I can not get angry, but just in case, it has to do with absolute betrayal by friends to break my serenity or push me beyond irritation.
Something that make you happy: CTV; Expanded Universe Star Wars, a geeks true dream.
Any imaginary friends in your past? ^_^: I almost wish I had, but a persons past is enough to comfort and haunt them without delusions of what I may or may not have seen. No one listens to the most honest of people anyways; children, drunks, those they consider insane.
Your dream home: A forest, untouched by people; except perhaps me, with a river running through it. It would be wonderful, and have an amazing, decay resistant library.
If you had a super-power: Make people attract sharp objects. Not really, it would be to grant people other than myself what they want.
One wish?: Restless curiosity, it sounds silly, and is selfish, but it would be a wish that allowed me to grant my own wishes.

Ah MagicLorlai is a Wicca eh. Makes sense, I do find that a fascinating religion. Yes Alydos this thread doesnft stand out as much, though perhaps you were being a wee bit overpresumptious? Considering the bulk of your first thread belonged in this thread anyway. No worries. We do have a nice introduction thread that I think is still on topic. An individual that plays yourself as being elements of both extremes with no middleground? Interesting. Stick around and enjoy the partyc Daggertooth

Niiiiiice... You sound like a very interesting person!! Not... Like... Sweets?! Forgive me, but I have lost quite a bit of respect for you. See, I'm just that kind of person who's pretty normal, eccentric in some aspects, likes making snide comments, but will kill for a good candy bar. Restless curiosity is very unique, but is a very good wish, I think. I like your signature, even though I only understand about half of it. Welcome!

Considering the bulk of your first thread belonged in this thread anyway. No worries. We do have a nice introduction thread that I think is still on topic. An individual that plays yourself as being elements of both extremes with no middleground? Daggertooth I apologize that I must disappoint you; but while I may come to seem difficult to understand, I just require a second glance. My true philosophy is the saying I put in my previous post; with modesty replaced with honesty. Honesty that is usually concise, though in this case lacking effort.
In short, you misread my post, but it`s understandable, I`ll try and change it to be more comprehensible. Perhaps I`ll dispose of some of my annoying exclamation marks as well.
Oh, and one more thing. The introduction thread did not exist when I made my own! I could not see it on the first page, so it did not exist; therein, ye gods, I am vindicated for my wrongs!

An embarassing moment: When somone I obviously knew at least passingly weel comes up to me and I have no idea what their name is or who are. Little known fact about youse: I'd fit in quite well at the cabin given the ability to survive what goes on there. Heh, I'd add nicely to the general atmosphere. Something that inspires you: Califur, I can't wait for it to get here. It is only three weeks away but it seems like forever. Something that angers you: Right now, conservatives. Especially some particularly underhanded tactics I've seen used. Something that make you happy: Webcomics, I read a lot of webcomics. Any imaginary friends in your past? ^_^: Not really, I imagined fictional words and adventures instead of having an imaginary friend. Your dream home: A 20 story tall black steel tower that never rusts and never breaks down that sits on a thermal vent for electricty and a spring for fresh water. If you had a super-power: Omnipotence, failing that control over gravity. One wish?: Give humanity a practical, easy to produce inertialess drive that doubles as an FTL system.

I used to dress in all black. I just liked it, plus out in the desert it made me all nice and warm. But I don't buy new cloths that often and faded black jeans just looks bad. So I shifted to blue, which still looks good even after years of use.
I really really love mushrooms. I love to saute them or have them in soup or whatever. I never figured out where they go on the food pyramid since they are a fungus. I guess that doesn't matter anymore since they now have something new.
Whats Califur? My guess....some sort of furry convention in california....but thats just a guess.

Finally I found the Intro thread. Wasn't sure if one was around. I might just copy what Alydos did with the colors.
Well, I'm Karuto, 17 year old Senior in High School and an avid web-wraith. That's just a term I actually just thought of to describe myself. I go around and around the internet looking for awesome Forums or Webcomics or the combination of the two. I sometimes get pretty popular in the process. Unfortunately, the slacker side of me eventually makes me not post or comment or do anything remotely related to the Comic/forum, so I disappear from the place entirely...
Wow, I bet that just sounded really lame. Yeah, it actually makes me sound like Hector...
Favorites / Least favorites
Candy: Sour things and hard candy, mainly / Dark chocolate... bitter like coffee...
Food: Mashed Potatoes / Coleslaw
Animal/s: Foxes, wolves, coyotes, pugs / Cats (lazy), spiders (is that considered an animal?)
Color/s: Blue, green, silver / Pink, lots of red, cream
Pants: Blue Jeans, sometimes gray ones / Hot topic pants (the ones with 50 zippers that go to nothing), shorts
Shirt: Medium to small t-shirts (What? They're comfy and feel good), black / Big, baggy ones with eye bleeding colors
Vegetable: Green beans and peas / Just about everything else
Celebrity: Bill Murray, Andy Kaufman / Johnny Depp
Singer/songwriter: Jim Morrison, Roger Waters / I don't know, because I don't care
Band: The Doors, Pink Floyd, Opeth, Jimi Hendrix, Johnny Cash / Pop bands
Song: When the Man Comes Around, Spanish Caravan / Stacy's Mom, all pop songs
Cheese: Monteray Jack / Bleu
Music video: None
Movie: Big Fish, The Life Aquatic, Pitch Black / Charlie and the Chocolate Factory (Gene Wilder's was funnier)
Fruit: Apples, grapes / Honey Dew
Cartoon: Robotech, Family Guy, South Park / Dora the Explorer
Cartoon character: Optimus Prime, Captain Gloval / Minmei, Dora & Boots
Element: Earth, Water / Wind
Weather: Snow, mild / Windy, drizzling rain, scortching heat
Word (in any language): Ensangrentada (Bloodstained) / None really come to mind
Place: Driving down Algonkian Parkway / The Mall
Shoe: Wide base, black, skate-board shoes / Tennis shoes
Random stuff: I would love to travel and take journey out west when I turn 21. I just have this inate sense of travel that I feel I can't fullfill until I turn that age and graduate College.
One thing you are proud of: My guitar skills, even though I'm not that good, my car, and my acceptance into my first choice college (John Jay College).
An embarassing moment: So many... Can't remember any because I really don't want to remember them.
Little known fact about youse: While I'm very cynical of religion and other things, I'm really very spiritual and would actually like to study the religion of the Anangu in Austrailia.
Something that inspires you: My natural feeling to explore and adventure.
Something that angers you: My sister, Roadblocks, speed bumps, interruptions, commercials, the fact that I can pick out and always get behind the person that drives 5 below the speed limit.
Something that make you happy: My dreams, ambitions, hopes, and belief that everything will eventually get better or get to the point where they can't get any worse. (Did I envoke Murphy's Law there?)
Any imaginary friends in your past? ^_^: Ah, some. Most are just in my head and I just amuse myself with day dreams with them. I think I had an imaginary mouse and hamster.
Your dream home: A small, cozy cottage up in a small Alaskan town.
If you had a super-power: Is Ominipotence an available choice? Hehe, maybe it would be Telekenisis, powers over magnetism, or super speed. I'd actually truly like the ability to take anything at all and manipulate it into anything I want.
One wish?: More wishes? Hehe, probably either eternal knowledge, or endless wealth (for the betterment of me and the rest of mankind).

Yeah, I'm actualy rather confused by Alydos's last post. I really have no idea what he's talking about with Dundee hurting herself and superiority or whatever. Very confusing actualy.
I was wondering what people consider as elements. I mean there are the standard of Earth, Air, Water, and Fire. Sometimes Spirit is mentioned. Someone mentioned darkness...or was it shadow. So what do people think?

Post by Alydos on Apr 13, 2006 22:47:15 GMT -5
I don`t believe that darkness is an element, it`s just used by people who want to sound interesting.
The Darkness is just what you don`t understand and spiritually doesn`t make sense due to cultural variances, and etcetera. Though hey, I`m sure there`s plenty of anime that talks about darkness being one, so you can go ahead and refer to them.

-.- The Elements are as follows: Earth, Fire, Water, Air, and Spirit. Spirit being what Christians would call the "Holy Ghost"- the spiritual energy from the Divine.
Light/Dark are laws of nature, not elements.
|
|
|
Post by Daggertooth on Apr 13, 2006 22:51:38 GMT -5
I can understand spirit as an element. Its a reference to the metaphysical that many feel is just as much of this world as earth, fire, wind and water. Others may be a bit harder to justify, but thats not nessisarily a bad thing. Take shadow for instant, it can be quite usefull but seldom fits in a neat category.

Post by Dundee on Apr 13, 2006 22:56:13 GMT -5
What the... Why am I hurting myself again? And where did I leave my thoughts of superiority? So confused...
As for elements, I've heard quite a bit of interesting stuff about that. The elements were originally created by early alchemists, who believed that all matter was composed of four elements: water, fire, wind and earth. They thought that if they could change the amount of one element in an object, they would be able to change the nature of the object itself. So, according to the people who first thought of the idea, it's water, fire, wind and earth, but many people tend to try to be more imaginative and take less thought of routes; once upon a time, I used to take the elements of truth, shadow and age myself.
|

|
Post by Alydos on Apr 13, 2006 23:08:52 GMT -5
I didn`t mean to confuse you, I just couldn`t find a list of your favorite or least favorite things, and was being dramatic.
How long did it take the early alchemists to realize that they were at the very least incapable of reaching their goals and that they should go play with fire?

I don't really know, I just got that random information off of a really old video my science teacher was showing us when we were studying the periodic table. I'm pretty sure that eventually they realized that they weren't really right, but they were on the right track. A list of favorite/least favorite? Alright, I'll have one up in a jiffy. That's alright being overly dramatic, we support that kind of stuff here! At least I do...
|
|
|
Post by Alydos on Apr 13, 2006 23:19:20 GMT -5
Awww, then your support is worth all the world here. Though it`s no fun when it`s support, people are supposed to be viciously prejudiced against it`s perceived inferiority. (note: I`ll update this post for comments after the list is whipped up, though I sure hope you don`t whip your peanut butter.)
*shudders* I have been recognized from my older school back in Montana twice, just this year. There is nothing in the world I dread, except the thought of those people remembering me.
Harrumph, you can`t let cartoons be beneath you, if you stop being a kid you can never mature, much less be happy in life.
The truth is all around you, the good just know it by listening.
The use of life is to try and survive, and on a more advanced scale, as truly thinking beings should see it, to survive the degeneration that threatens your conscious every day. It could also be said that it is to try and make others happy. This sounds like my personal opinion, but I, biased as I am, would not fall short of calling it rhetorical nonsense and fact all at the same time. It also falls short in detail, but I needn`t spend time over it outside of a debate thread.
A great man lives not to be a great man, he lives to just be a man. History will judge societies view of who is great in the end.

It's Amanda Bynes, i do believe. Though, that probably isn't how her last name is spelled... heh, one of my favorite quotes: "I'll get to it...EVENTUALLY!" The Procrastinator Girl. I think she only showed once or twice on the Amanda Show... also: "Case closed. Bring in the dancing lobsters." Judge Trudy. ... I should put these in the quotable quotes thread... *runs off to do so*
