Question for any comic maker - What is/where your biggest inspiration for a comic? Ahaha, my friend Tony. He's just about the craziest person I know, and I love doing comics about stuff that he does and says.

I'd have to say real life, and of course things that happen on this forum! Oh, and Manga/Anime.
(There are four pages now! Ha!)

I don't actually do comics, but I occasionally draw a comic-like picture, and I did start planning a webcomic... It never got off the ground coz of a lack of ideas for the plot and an inability to draw consistently. I could tell you the inspirations for all those characters, though...

Zolah: I'd have to say the same as Tai, I don't really have a serious comic going on. But I do draw some. Mostly, I get inspiration from real life occurances and other webcomics. There's also a good dose of manga/anime themes in my work (I did, after all, learn to draw because of anime), and the rest is just pulled from the odd corners of my mind (dreams, etc.).

Heehee... My comic is my brainchild. The characters have actuaally been stewing away at the back of my head since I was four. Although I don't have the ability to draw them properly yet...

Oh man, those stories are always the best. The best part is when you find someone to help you bring them to life on the page! ^_^ <3

Amelius made me a mod last night. No doubt you're all wondering why. *sigh* I knew this would come up, sooner than later, so I'll just write my disclaimer here. I'm a mod because of my technical skills. I'm the front- and back-end coder for the forums, as well as Amelius' go-to tec support. It's my job to keep everything working both for Amelius and for us forumgoers. Oh, and I'm also Amelius' errand-boy. She wants something done, I do it. So I work for my rank. That being said, I'm still a forum mod, so... follow the rules, etc.

Momo: I was just wondering. Cool. umm...this isn't a question. I did have one. Oh yeah! How come you change your signiture so often? I've been wondering...

I change it often because I get cool new ideas for signatures all the time, or my sister changes it and I want to match hers. Speaking of that, I'm going to change it again right now. *changes signature*

To EEN, should you see this: You sure like asking Amelius' characters long and complex surveys... Any reason why? And do you think them up on your own, or get them from another source?

The question was asked: What is the biggest inspiration for your comic?
My answer? That's a little complicated. I have a variety of interests, and I try to compile them the best I can. The style is anime/manga with some personal touches that ensure I'll never be a manga artist. For plotline/characters, I've had an interest in mythology and the "supernatural" ever since I was little. My main character for Ialus is a half-siren, which happens to also be my most absolute favorite mythological creature. I like blending the supernatural and the mundane, though, which is why a half-siren and a vampire use a car to get to certain places.
Oh, but my biggest influence is how big of a romantic I am. It's what keeps my interest longer than anything else; I LOVE love. Any comics I read have a major love story going on. ^^;
As for how many comics I read...not that many. Some of the major ones, some of the more obscure ones, a few around Drunk Duck.
My avatar is me, mangafied and animated. xD It's significant because it was among my first successful animations.
I have a question for the other forumgoers: What Charby character do you think you are most like and why? I think I identify more with Mye, personally. Not because I have throngs of men interested in me, but because she has a quietly intelligent, mature but cute demeanor. Of course, she has a tad bit more patience than I might have in some situations. Now you. xD

Magicklorelai: My biggest inspiration is life! All the quirky little things that happen every day! Oh, and this pencil that I found that said "Mirado Black Warrior..."
Also, which Charby character am I? I am a freaky mix between Zerlocke and Azelea... Need I say more? Prolly more of a Zerlocke.

Zolah: The greatest inspiration for comics... Well, The Wotch got me started paying attention to body porportions in the first place(before the best I could do was stick figures), but what inspires me to draw comics, even if I never show them to anyone, is Charby the Vampirate, some anime, my brother, my friends, being bored in school, and being too tired to know what's sane or not.
Which character am I most like?... Um. Let's see. I'm a lot like Kavonn(flirty, quiet, intelligent, and most likely to use words noone in my peer group will have ever heard of), a bit like Hexavier(sarcastic, protective, revengeful, biased, and a great love of furry animals), a small bit of Zeno(lonely and desperate), and quite a bit like Azelea, I'm afraid.(can't make up my mind on who my crush is, slightly naive, and a great braggart)

Magicklorelai: Depends on who I'm around. Normally, I'm a weird mix of Tony, Zerlocke, and Mannick. Apparently. I'll ask my friends and familly why some time...

Little Rose: Reed's comic 'Welcome to Normal'. I was like, hmm, these crossover pages are pretty cool! I think I'll check out the comics later.' Then I bookmarked everything, and didn't check them out until like 3 months later. The first comic I saw was the one where Azelea screams that Daray's a stalker. I left it alone for a while, cause I thought that it might be a little too mature for me(topless boys and all) but then I check it out again a week later, and was amazed to find that there was another page up. Not only a page, but 6 new pages! So I finally went to the beginning, and for the next month the only thing I did all day was reread the archives again and again and again. Heh, sorry for the rant, I lurves talking about how I found out about it.

Where did I first hear of Charby? You want the long answer or the short answer? =3
Short answer: Link list for High School Changed Me.
Long answer: A commercial introduced me to Neopets. On Neopets, I met Koneko. Koneko introduced me to homestarrunner.com. Homestar Runner introduced me to Stinkoman. Once I Googled Stinkoman for pictures. From that, I discovered the Homestar Runner Wiki. On the wiki was a list of Comic Sightings. One comic was The Wotch. On The Wotch's link list was High School Changed Me. On High School Changed Me's list was Charby the Vampirate. And thus here I am.

Hm... Which character do I think I most resemble... Maybe the ninja? Well, OK, maybe not. But I don't really know. I want to say Kavonn, but I know I ain't nowhere near cool enough.
I heard about Charby from a good friend of mine who, like in Taimatsu's tale, I met on Neopets (which I have been playing for years without number...). She had just discovered that it was back up on DrunkDuck, so she was showing me a few of her favorites. That went and got me hooked.

Magicklorelai: Probably Tony for the most part. Mayhap with a little of Hex's protective streak. But I'm someone who tends to be rather loud and obnoxious, something of a clown (rather more so when I'm nervous), and I have trouble letting people know my true feelings. Plus I care about people really intensely, but I have difficulty making close friends. And I'm hopeless in love. I'd say it fits!
Little Rose: I was suffering through internet withdrawl while at a month-long program last summer. Whenever I got to a computer, I trolled around, re-reading webcomics and obsessively checking for updates. While the Belfry webcomic index, I discovered some comic called Charby the Vampirate. I'm all like, whatever. I checks it out.
I go OMG this is friggin' HILARIOUS! Plus I kept seeing glimpses of the current arc's art and I'm all Is the same person still drawing this? WOW! Of course, the rest is history.

magicklorelai: eh... I'm not sure what character I'm most like. I've been told i'm like a combination of Hexavier, Fay and Kavonn, which quite frankly I find is a totally messed up combination. I've also been told I'm scary when I'm angry... so then I punched the guy who told me that. HAHAHA!!! Isn't that a riot! ^^

Magicklorelai: I speak like Kavonn, am chivalrous like Tony, and full of obsessive bitterness like Zerlocke. But not quite as bad. My walls are clean of blood.

Magical Lo's Question: Well, I think its Mannick and a little of Tony. Im a little goofy, have obsession of hats and i am somewhat cute ( atleast what my boyfriend says... XP ). and i try as much as i can to be polite and caring of my friends
Iamalittlerose's question : It was a former friend of mine who read it, we had both simillar tastes and when he found CTV he thougth it had simillar drawing style as mine ( though i strongly disagreed with him ). Then i just continued to read, and got cougth in it ever since ^^''
Arya: First thing i did when i read charby i drawed a character in simillar style wich i named 'Julia' and after that ive only made myself in simillar style and charby once (wich reminds me of one thing.. )
