Rafael Glared at the woman, but wasn't sure what exactly he should do. He thought maybe this kleptowhatever was just a cover. In anycase she looked sorry and gave back his moeny. "there should'na be a next time theif. Some'd string ya up where you stand. I werk too hard fer mah livin to ave it taken by some quickfingers. You best keep them wanderin hands to yerself. Ya best stay away from me, don't think I wont sting ya up myself if'n I catch ya again." He was only partly bluffing, part of him really wanted to punish her now, she would have made off with his earnings without a second though if she wasn't caught.

Chains gave a low grunt. Betrayal, mass carnage, small village woes, he had heard it all before. In fact, it was a tediously familiar story. Not that he had no sympathy for the girl, but so many with unusual gifts fell into the same boat. The other female was right - many of them had handled it better than the pyro. He just snorted.
"So it's males you have a problem with. Well, none here will bother you. Don't think we could get away with it, in this crowd." Oh, way to show your emathic side there, Chains-boy.

Chrysanthe sighed softly, and stood up, her cloak once again falling over her gown. There were some weather-worn marks on the cloak, and even a few holes that were clearly made by a blade of some sort.
"Even if you were a murderer, I have no right to judge you for your actions. No one does. Your choices are yours, and ultimately, you have to live with them. When you threaten other lives, especially the lives of those who can stand up for themselves, however, you will face opposition to your actions." She smiled softly, "I hope that your accidents don't lead to your downfall someday." With that, Chrysanthe turned, and walked back to the table she'd been seated at...plucking up a kettlechip and munching it curiously. There was little she could do for the pyrokinetic woman.

Nezumi bowed.
"it wont happen again sir. I'm just extremely bored, and I can't help being a kleptomaniac... I was just born that way, you know. Just like you were born.. I dunno, a man. I'm really sorry..."
She looked so helpless a raging demon would stop in its fury and give her a hug.

Kendrella sighed and leaned her head back against the wall. She shut her eyes and shook her head slowly from side to side, muttering under her breath. Slowly, the muttering became less audible, until Kendrella's head slumped forward again. She had fallen asleep. Kendrella muttered in her sleep, shifting restlessly. Suddenly, something scratched at the door and barked. The bark was curious, a sound almost like burning leaves. Kendrella bolted awake. "Blaze?" she said, scrambling over to the door. She opened it, and was tackled by a small puppy made of flames. She sank to her knees and cuddled the flame-pup. "Blaze, where have you been?" she whispered, holding the squirming puppy at arms length.

Kendrella put the puppy on the floor and watched as it ran around with an uncharacteristis smile. The puppy ran from person to person, barking happily, before stopping by Rafael. It sat down and barked happily, before rearing up to put its front feet on his leg. Kendrella gasped and raced over to pick Blaze up. "No, Blaze! You know better," she gently scolded. Blaze whimpered, tail drooping. She then sat him down and tunred to Rafael. She looked down at her feet and fidgited. "I'm...sorry...about earlier...I...I have a problem with men appraoching me...and I may have over reacted..." she said hesitantly, her voice soft. Blaze yipped softly, then ran in circles around Kendrella.
(OOC:Blaze actually isn't an elemental. it's a puppy thing that Kenny made herself... ^_^)

Kendrella took a step back almost unconsciously. "I guess..." she said softly, glancing around the inn. Blaze yipped excitedly, then started chasing his tail. Suddennly he stopped and stood absolutely still for about two minutes. Then, he barked again and ran to the barkeep, leaving four scorch marks in the shape of his paws. He barked twice, then he went to Chains, barked twice more, then ran back to Kendrella. he then nudged her towards a chair. "I'm going, i'm going..."Kendrella muttered, sitting. Blaze barked happily, then jumped up into her lap.

Chains shrugged. In the large coat, it almost looked as if he'd hunched up. "It's a reaction I'm used to," he said casually, without a trace of bitterness. "Just don't go attacking folks you don't know you can defeat, young thing. A little caution would do you good." He watched the puppy as he slurped up the last of the coffee.

Moss understood what was going on. He had been led to the beach through his lust for Suka, led by the forest spirit to kill Kcattah. After his use there was finished, he had been teleported here to take the next life. To put another face on a gold coin.
But what about the dragon Coal? Who he had almost, but failed to kill and who had nothing to do with the coins. What about meeting up with Grey, Verve and Trandar? That was too much to be coincidence. He could understand meeting up with Suka, as she was the primary force that had driven him to the beach, and Kcattah because she was the objective. The dragon Coal could have been a coincidence and Dylan and Melody had possibly played a role in his actions or might have in the eyes of someone trying to force him to do something. Coal might have been an extra piece that had been forced into the situation through Melody. He still wasnt sure who Trandar really was, and he had to acknowledge the idea that he might not have been as closely related to him as he thought, but none of it explained Grey or Verve.
Verve would probably say that he was just being paranoid, and she was probably right. He was probably wrong in nearly everything he thought, but he had just killed a little girl. If he stood around and did nothing, he would only do exactly as he was forced to. If he had taken the coin from Kcattah instead of leaving it to Trandar, she would probably still be alive.
Whatever Verve thought, there was definately something going on, whether or not he knew what it was.
Whatever it was that was forcing him to do things. It was winning two-nothing and anything Moss did was probably just doing what he was supposed to. The one person that he thought could help him fight this force was gone from him again and even if he did find her, she probably wouldnt forgive him.
But she had forgiven him the first time when she had thought Kcattah was dead through the same circumstances and he had the coin to prove that it was those same circumstances that had led to her death.... but he might not be ready to forgive himself.
And even if he was able to predict how and why things happened, it didnt change the way they hurt.
Maybe he was looking at this all wrong, maybe it was the spirits and forces that drove him who were in the right and all these things that happened to him were necessary. Some of the most wonderfull moments of his life had been with the forest spirit and it was hard to believe that it was evil.
Probably his mind was too weak to comprehend the reasons behind the things that happened to him but it didnt change the fact that he was stuck in the middle of it all. The real question was what he was going to do now. If he listened to his pain and whined about Suka, he would end up filling the list of coins before he was able to do anything about it.
So who was it here who might end up with a coin in their possesion? Nezumi the pick pocket of course.
"I wouldnt try taking anything from me" Moss said to Nezumi "you'd probably be successfull, but anything you take from me might end up killing you".

Nezumi looked curious.
"Oh! Mister Moss! Do you have a dangerous magical item?" Her eyes lit up. Her heart beat faster. A magical item?! Dangerous! Why, those were the only things really worth stealing. She walked over next to him, looking into his eyes, trying to pull the truth out of him. What did he have that could kill her!?

Chrysanthe watched the fiery little pup bounce around excitedly....he seemed to be exactly what this paranoid and dangerous young woman needed. She smiled as she chewed on another kettlechip, and swallowed thoughtfully. She glanced to the door, listening to the sound of raindrops outside, contemplating her departure. After all, she wouldn't want to attract negative attention to this building, and there WAS that bounty on her head(thanks to that Mr. Hyse) that hadn't yet reached this county...
"You're right about not everyone being someone you want to be identified with, Mr. Rafael...no matter how nice they seem at the time...." There was a twinge of sadness in her tone, but she smiled nontheless.

Blaze barked and wiggled around on Kendrella's lap, trying to lick her face.

Chrysanthe visibly cringed at Rafael's comment about people who were deceptive being weasels, but didn't say anything about it, just smiled worriedly and nodded. "I-Indeed...Very true, most often they are opposed to the law, aren't they? Fugitives, even." She glanced to Kendrella as she'd begun to unravel her story of torture, and her smile turned to a look of sympathy.
"It doesn't take a reason for some people to be cruel. Sometimes, they have fear of what they don't understand, and act on that fear. My father and I had done nothing to the people of our hometown. Well, that's not true...he would do spells to help and heal those in need when asked...sometimes without being asked, he'd do acts of kindness...and when I wasn't supplying the town with various herbs and spices, or selling them the best selections from my personal garden, I was helping them plant their own." She choked somewhat, thinking of the events that had changed all of that. "...But somewhere along the line, someone got suspicious, fearful of my father and me. That someone decided to get other people terrified of us. I'm fairly sure that all it took was one evil person to convince everyone else to hurt you and your family. The important thing is that you learn to let that evil that touched your life go, and not let it consume your heart as well."

Rafael noticed Chrysanthe's cringe and her worried smile. He stopped consentrating on eating and paying more attention to the conversation at hand. About the tragedy both women seemed to have experienced.
He sniffed, "Yeah there be folks who're fugitives of the law, but ya also gotta know that jest cause a persons against the law ain't mean they's bad. Some laws ain't worth followin an some kings ain't worth spit. Ya gotta know the difference in them, both folks and the laws." He looked at both these women, both with their own problems and history. He guessed Chrysanthe was a fugitive herself with the way she became nervous and brought it up, and kendrella was basicaly spilling her tragic story. He felt sad that there wasn't anyone there to help them when they needed it. "Not everun will do ya wrong or turn ya in cause ya messed up. Chains listened to the tales of woe for a little while, but the rabbit-man and the thief caught his attention. Discreetly, he tilted his head in their direction, his eyes reflecting hellish yellow light. He noted that he was making the bartender rather nervous. The man had been cleaning the same spot for a good fifteen minutes, right where he had the best view of the cloaked monstrosity.
He shifted, then decided to speak. "If you do not wish to cause harm, even to a thief, why do you carry an item that would kill all who touch it? Excepting the original bearer, I presume, seeing as you still draw breath."

Blaze barked, then stopped. Suddenly, he started growling. Loudly. Kendrella look at the door, dread in her eyes. "Oh Kenny!" a sing-song voice called out. Kendrella paled. "Oh no...not now..." she whispered. The door opened and a woman with long black hair walked in, smiling malicously. "Kenny, dearest...where have you been? I've been looking everywhere for you," the woman said with false concern. kendrella gulped. "I...I got lost..." she said softly, her voice trembleing with fear. The woman's ice blue eyes narrowed. "Of course you did," she said softly, walking over to where Kendrella sat, rooted to the chair in fear. Blaze growled, and ran to stand between the woman and Kendrella. The woman sneered at the flame puppy, then kicked it out of the way. Blaze hit a table leg with a yelp. "Blaze!" Kendrella said, shocked. "Keep your filthy little experiments away from me," the woman said softly, moving closer. Kendrella shrank in her chair. "PLease...go away..." she whimpered.

"I am not...didn't kill any but the boys, the old man...and your gang of brutes..." Kendrella said softly. The woman scowled. Moving around rafael swiftly, she back-handed Kendrella across the face. "Hold your tongue, demon spawn," she hissed. Kendrella whimpered in pain and brought her hand to her cheek. Then, she dropped it to her side. On her face, in a perfect replication of the womn's hand, was something almost like what would happen when you put a flaming peice of wood in a bucket of water. Blaze rose to his feet, shaking his head woozily, then scampered over to Kendrella. Standing in front of her, he started growling. "Blaze,no! She'll kill you!" Kendrella said as the woman reached down. Blaze yelped in pain as the woman's hand picked him up by the scruff of his neck. "No! don't hurt him! Please!" Kendrella begged. The woman held the yelping puppy in front of her face. From where her hand was touching him, it looked like the flames were dying, spreading from his neck to the rest of his body.

Rafael had seen enough. Forget not being involved, he wasn't going to stand and watch this kind of abuse. With a speed that seemed too fast for the big man he spun using his Forearm as a ram to smash into to woman with a force strong enough to send her back several feet. He took two steps forward infront of Kendrella, squaring up to the stranger. "Now that ain't gonna happen. Yer outta line ere an ya best leave fer it. This ain't no place fer settlin personal vendetta's. Ya don't represent no law an yer claims mean nuthin ere." This certainly looked like free lance work and personal. No matter what claims of murder. He Stared at the woman, daring her to make any kind of agressive move.

She placed her hand on the extinguished part of his neck, and the fire sprang to life once more. Kendrella picked Blaze up and moved back behind Rafael, watching with wide eyes.
The woman sneered and Rafael. She held her hands out, and the air suddenly became much, much colder. Daggers of ice started to appear in the air. "Move, fool," she said coldly. "You don't know the forces you are messing with."

He had dealt with magic users before, they seemed to think too much of themselves and underestimate others. But that wasn't always the case. *BANG* Again the hammer went back, the gun angled right between her eyes as he took another step forward. Some mages had an uncanny ability to concentrate through even the most severe pain. Some shots prevented that by default. You can't be to careful with mages. *BANG* Rafael stood still, no emotions showing as he pulled the hammer back yet again. He watched carefuly for any counter action. Anything to indicate that this mage had yet another trick up her sleeve. The four shots rang back to back, over in a blink of the eye. The smoke billowed quite visibly from the tip of his gun. "You..you...you killed her..." she whispered, quite visably shaking. But weither she was awed or terrified was hard to tell. Kendrella sank to her knees. "She's...dead..." she whispered, releasing Blaze. Blaze ran over to the woman's body and growled at her. When she didn't move, Blaze barked happily, then turned and went back to Kendrella. Kendrella just sat there, stunned.

As the heat had started to turn up(figuratively speaking, of course), Chrysanthe had no intention of being a hero- there was nothing she COULD do to stand up to this monstrous woman who threatened not only the life of the possibly insane pyrokinetic girl, but her little dog, too. If she were outside, maybe..but this wasn't the right environment. She stood up, but mainly to get ready to flee if things didn't turn out well.
Rafael's four shots startled her, however, and she immediately squeaked and hid beside the table, not sure what to make of the loud, sudden noise. As it ended, she peeked out, green eyes shining with alarm and curiousity. ...Did...Did Rafael just KILL someone? Not that it wasn't self defense, but...She trembled. She didn't like violence in the slightest.

Chains had turned to watch as the woman entered. His hands slid inside his coat as she abused the other girl, and a careful observer could see that his shoulders tensed as if in preparation to carry out a swift, dangerous action. He never got the chance.
He wrinkled his nose - Chains had never been fond of guns or the smell of gunpowder - but the woman was dealt with. He flicked an ear at her body. There were no signs of life. He stepped foreward, standing over the body for a moment. Then he tsked. "Such a mess." He bent down and did something hidden to the other bar patrons, and the body crumbled to dust. Then he stood and went back over, sitting down to wait politely for the rabbit-man's answer.
Upon noticing the barmaids cowering against the back wall, he winked. Or maybe he just blinked at them, it was hard to tell with only one eyelid.
