"HEY!!" ScareCrow threw herself in front of the fairy-kind, after flicking the adorable little spider off her shoulder, yelling defiantly, and hopefully absorbing the most part of the blast... Stupid, violent beast... *&%$ it... She'd been in the process of making a friend!

"Out of my WAY" Dorphin snarled, stopping short in his charge, his magic twisting through the air like tentacles. He had no reason to attack the stick-girl, he just wanted the infuriating, noisy fairy behind her!

"Stop it!" Aislinn yelled. Up until now, she had been too shocked to do anything. "If you hate us all so much, than just leave!"

(("YOU SHALL NOT PASS!" Bwahahahahaaaa... )) "No! Nein! Non! Nu-uh! No again!" she scowled, "NOT happening! You're acting like a young child that's been called a baby! Just..." And here, she paused momentarily, suddenly unsure of herself. "Back off?" she seems hopefull. Well... Brace yourself, Scare. Five minutes, and you're allready involved yourself in a fight with someone you've just met, defending someone you barely know... Egads, you need to grow up. Ah well...

He stood in front of her, scowling over her shoulder at the fairy. The black cloud surrounding him thrashed about, trying to break free of his command and attack everything around it... it was very distracting, really. He was already breathing heavily, and he wasn't used to fighting with this body at all. What the hell was he thinking? He felt very confused, and the halo dimmed as his anger faded.
"You're right. I will leave." His face had taken on an empty, emotionless glaze, and he turned around towards the forest he'd come from.

Well... That was unexpected... Scare wrote something else, and frowned. This wasn't right... One of the characters leaving so soon? "No! Don't leave..." she was defiant once more. "We are all players in this story! If you leave now... The pattern might fail."

He looked back and snorted. "My kind... wasn't meant to mix with others. I told you. I am a monster, someone," he short a glare at Valerian through his sunglasses, "will get hurt if I stay." Besides, he thought, if they knew any more about me I'd already be dead.

Ballast. She placed a nigh skeletal hand on his shoulder. "Relax! I'm the only one of my kind in this world. How do you think I feel?" that wasn't the best thing to say... "We all have our problems... But ev'ry problem has a solution, no?"

|
Post by Daybreak on Dec 3, 2005 22:13:05 GMT -5
He shrugged her hand off "I have nothing against you. Yet. But there is no solution. None of you understand." If he went back there, he'd rip some heads off for sure. It was taking all he had to control his anger and not lash out at the first available target, with his instincts screaming at him to take control of this "clan."
Since when had his mind started thinking of other species in terms he once used to describe his own family?

Pulling her hand back, she frowned, before shooting her voice directly into his mind, so that it could be heard by no other. [glow=red,2,300]But if you leave, you may never again get a chance to heal old wounds, or to redeem yourself for whatever you did.[/glow]

Varian was quite alarmed by the sudden violence between Valerian and Endorphin. At least the others were willing to play peacemaker. Perhaps she could distract them....
"AHEM. I'm sure you are all hungry after your travels...my friend Rolf here has quite a large supply of food. If you could tell me what your culinary preferences are, I'm sure we can find something for everyone."

Rolf jumped back thinking to himself. "I'm not sure I have enough food for all of them and, unforteunatly, I don't think they heard Varian. Oh god, after all this time avoiding people I have to get their attention!"
Rolf pulled out a bottle shaped like a flame form a campfire. He poured the contents into his mouth and began thinking angry thoughts. Shaking in aggravation he was almost ready. He finnaly found the pure anger inside him and let it out into the liquid in his mouth, spewing fire! It was an inhuman amount bursting out like a volcano!
He yelled at the top of his lungs. "Everyone settle down and listen to Varian!" With everyone staring at him, His face turned pure red, before of course, he passed out.

Valerian had shrunk himself down as small as he could and seemingly vanished. Being small and dark it was easy to hide in the night and even easier to hide behind Scary's head then slink away. Valerian didn't go far and soon sought safety near Varian's right ear.
Valerian grumbled to Varian. "You know if I were larger he never would have tried attacking me. You know someone like him wouldn't dare attack someone bigger then him. It is because I am so small people think they that I'm easy. Well not THAT but you KNOW what I mean. ................................................................. I think I'd like some honey and muffins please."

She twirled aroud towards the fire, and seated her self lightly on the ground, taking up suprisingly little room, given the strangely long limbs, and called over her shoulder to Endorphen, "Choose, choose, choose away!" And awaited both his decision, and what was on the menu.

Her mind was whirring away as she walked towards the fire. 'If I have any common sense at all, I will walk away now and never look back. This whole situation is insane. The only solution is... OOH! FISH!' "I'll have some fish please."

" Zolah had been quiet for a long time now, just looking at the argument was quite amsing. it was somehow like she didnt even exist, after a while she noticed that she started to look at the creatures necks and that she was almost drooling. she shook her head and hoped to god that some sort of critter would just appear infront of her so she could feel, it wouldnt be recomended to let the beast out by the only people wich could tell her where she was "

Endorphin was about to respond to Scare (But I didn't do anything...), when he heard his favorite word mentioned. Everything else immediately flew out of his head. "Oh! Oh my! Did someone say FOOD?" He broke out in a foolish grin that lacked the threat he previous smiles had held. "Oh, is that FISH? Did you say I could have some?" He sat down next to the fire, completely unperturbed by Rolf's display, completely harmless now and drooling at the prospect of fish.

Scare sat, observing the scene, and occasionally jotting down a note or two, and surveying the options before deciding what she wanted. Fish sounded good around now... But what else was there, just in case?

The Devourer really didn't care what there was to eat, just so long as it was margionally edible. His stomach growled, kicked back into action at the very thought of food. Even in his human form, it was hard to keep his belly full for any length of time.

Then, apparently, she decided, as she stood up and proclaimed happily, whilst bobbing lightly, "I shall have some oxygen," and then, in relativly hushed tones, "It is much sought after, you know. Very, very important, it is..." after pondering on this, she announced, "Er... I'd like a bit of fish, please?"

Endorphin gave scarecrow an odd look. "Can you really... survive on oxygen?" He'd never heard of anything like that before, but it certainly would be a practical trait, especially for his species. Of course, being a bit new to interaction with other species, he was really taking Scare's comment much too literally, but that didn't even occur to him.

"Ah, no! Merely a small joke on my part... You breath oxygen, yes?" Scare smiled without showing her teeth for once. "Thus, it is much sought after. Extremely valuable." She then added, and then, the side of her grey lip twitching, as though trying to hide inner mirth, "But I can go quite a long time without eating. Can fin sustenance almost anywhere. You?"

The Devourer thought about this for a moment (his stomach was distracting him) "I eat many things. Meat is good. Much of my diet is plant-stuff and insects, though. And tree bark. And decaying flesh. And mushrooms. And grubs. Fruits. And rocks. Sometimes dirt." He paused to take a breath before he continued his list, then got distracted by a growl from his gut and decided to shrug instead. "I would not last long without food. But many things are food."

OOC: One of the reasons other species hate Devourers is that they think they're carnivores with insatiable appetites. They're actually omnivorous (as you can see), and actually operate as "garbage disposals" of their habitats so long as their numbers remain low.

OOC. That is REALLY interesting! Seriously! BIC. "Hmmm... Coulda..." she paused, momentarily distracted. "Coulda sworn I've heard of something like that before..." she was silent for a moment, evidently pondering before wondering aloud... "You can eat rocks? An' dirt? Must be a usefull skill. If it isn't too impolite... What kind of demon are you, supposin' you're a demon?"
OOC. Scare has an overly inquiring mind. She needs it, or else she doesn't have any back story on the 'characters'.

OOC: I'm a biology geek. If I make a species, I make sure it fits an ecological niche. ^_^ Actually, it's kinda fun to do....
Endorphin began to get alarmed, but he put on his best blank face. "I told you. I'm a monster. No one wants anything to do with me." He turned back to the fire, fed up with waiting, and snatched the discarded fish head from besides the flame. Between bites, he said "Dirt 'n rocks, just minerals and filler. Rocks help with vegetable digestion a bit, though..."

"Ah." She relaxed a bit. In the best stories, there are allways characters struggling with their nature... It was only to be expected. Thus, she did the one thing she could think of. She stroked her chin, indulging in yet another loverly stereotype. "Interestin'... Veeeery interestin'." And then she pondered.

- This is a bit hard to ask, but is there any vessels nearby? seeming to be the only vampire here i guess not..

Shoving the rest of the fish head into his mouth, then spoke around his food (manners were not his strong point). "Vessel? Like something with blood? Yes, you do need blood, you must fatten up." He pondered this for a while, but as he wasn't very familiar with vampires, he had no idea what kind of blood they'd need. Animal blood was easy, but humans weren't very common around here. He wasn't about to offer his own blood, especially since he had no idea how the magic worked on him would affect a vampire.

"Yes, I'm sure the rocks help grind up bones and flesh quite nicely. Oooops did I say that out loud. Stupid brain, your not helping me." Valerian said with a keen smile peeking out from Varian's shoulder.
Valerian’s expression darkened his normal happy go lucky expression hardened into a mass of thin smiles and dark shadowy expressions accented sharpy with lines from sharpy streched as his lips pulled back to grin contrasted by eyes that were radient, deep, and dark glaring outward at Endorphin. Valerian’s voice ran cold almost reverberating, disturbingly clear and deep for the tiny form that it came from making even more unnatural feeling.
"I think it is marvelous that you embrace who you are. Admit you are a monster. Are you familiar with Greek tragedy? No?" Valerian didn't wait for a reply continued. "Ah well that is okay. In fact I can't blame you, I much prefer Shakespear. I mean at least he had some idea how things work in the world. But still in Greek drama there are aaaaaaaaaaalllllllllllllllllllll these stories of people trying to fight there fate or change what they are. As is the way with tragedies their very efforts just make things worse. Yet they struggle on trying to be different only in the end to realize it only lead them to doom taking them full circle before they are struck down for their arrogance. Simply embracing your destiny is far wiser, being who you are. Like me for example Endorphin, can you guess what I do? Do you wonder what I am for? What is my destiny?" Valerian said darkly.
Then just Valerian’s sharp features melted into his easy smile full and once again his eyes were bright (and slightly stupid), Valerian giggled as if cleansing the voice from himself and answered himself.
“Heh I wish I knew. I’m just not very good at being a fairy.” Valerian said rubbing the back of his head.
