"Owwww" Valerian complained at being shook by Varian. "Well that is a silly question."
Slyly Valerian slide a note out of his outfit and into Varian's hand which read as follow.
"Dear Larger and much more formidable sir or madam depending on your genetic situation and cultural preferences,
I, Valerian Mezverian, do here by and most discreetly (that means secretly) request your help here with the promise of future goods and services as exchange for your assistance. In a series of events far to complicated for me to ever explain here I have become the effective captive in company of the small demonic boy wizard here in his misplaced attempt to help me (I think from myself I can't really remember anymore). More to the point I am seeking the Atler of Mizeking a wizard of some accomplishment (See Vol 6 of the history of obscure Alters[on display at King Samrick's]) and to that end I here by request you assistance in all matters relating to the finding of the Alter and contents there in.
So in summery Need Help Will Pay Big Score Scary devil wizard kid >.<
-Valerian Fairy of the Night at large
PS don't mention the Atler
PPS This is not a chain letter
PPPS Wink twice for no Wink Six times for yes"
Valerian tried to shake himself loose and glared at 'Kcatta'.
"Hisssss, wicked fox thing. Did no one ever tell you jumping out at people and babbling like a lunatic is not the best way to make friend and a good way to get yourself smacked upside the head? Well obviously not as I suspect a sharp blow to the head is what left you in such a state. Don't expect that to get you any pity points though because after this display I am inclined to believe those said sharp blows to the head were most probably deserved. Hisssssss."

OOC: Im thinking of adding my character to the story now, do you think Valerian would appreciate any more assistance? Moss dosent really charge anything exept a good adventure.

Moss lay in the shadows behind Varian. Staring up at an awkward angle he managed to read the words on the letter. A strange idea struck him, if this fairy was looking for help he would surly be able to contribute and his lust for adventure was strong. He didnt have to side with the fairy, he would simply fein friendship until he decided wether or not he wished to help and by that time he just might have decided to turn against him. It wasnt his business at the moment, but he could make it his business. This seemed a good opportunity to have responsibility for something and be important for once in his life. The concept so pleased him he could hardly sustain cackling to himself.
On an impulse he slid away and out of sight. He transformed into his regular form and walked back up the path to the group. "Kavonn is that you?" said Moss.

OOC: Sorry I took so long....busy week so far.
Varian released the fairy since he seemed to have recovered his senses (such as they were). As he slipped out of her grasp, she felt the crackle of paper in her paw. Bemused, she took the opportunity to read the note he had slipped her while he berated the fox girl. Although the note was long and rather incoherent, she grasped the idea that he wanted to hire her....but, six winks for yes? How was she supposed to do THAT discretely?
Just as she finished the note, she felt a shiver pass up her spine, and she turned her head quickly to see who was watching her...but it was too late. She could trust her senses enough to know that someone or some thing had been right behind her, but it was gone. She shrugged mentally while tucking the note into her pocket....it just added to the mystery and intrigue (not to mention pay) that this unexpected situation offered. And there was also the interesting coincidence of the similarity of their names. Surely this would be much more rewarding than tossing drunks and fending off advances at the Dragon’s Mane.
Valerian seemed to have finished his rant, so she started to wink six times at him, but she lost count when demon boy began to look at her strangely...
“Err...I must have got some dust in my eye...”
She was relieved when a newcomer appeared and distracted the demon boy...(so his name was Kavonn, was it?) She considered starting over with her winks, but decided that Valerian had probably understood. One thing nagged at her though...how the hell had her written her that note while she was holding him??

Before entering the situation, Moss had developed a plan. About 50 paces away there was a small shop filled with random spells and magical items (he had been in this area of town before and knew just about every inch of it). He made sure he was standing directly in Valerians line of sight and felt with his mind for something in the shop that would make a loud noise. "So Kavonn im surprised to see you arou-" he said as a huge explosion erupted from the shop and everyone turned to look at the source.
While everyone was distracted Moss bent his neck backwards so that he was looking Valerian in the eye and quickly winked six times at him, then imediately turned back to gawk at the excitement with the rest, enjoying thouroghly his thoughts of what the fairy must be thinking.

Explination: Varian was holding Valerian's wings not not his arms so he was free to magic up what he need. Valerian is fairly good at non-metal simple objects such as a note.
Valerian was mildly confused at the moment but concluded that through some odd working of fate he now had two allies at least in his venture for the atler. Valerian dusted himself off and after having his wings pinched rubbed them not ready to fly again at the moment. Like a butterfly his wings actually had tiny scales and they had been midly damaged where his wings had been pinched.
Now all that remained was to some how get things started. Kavonn wanted to go to the market to get help, but it seemed now that Valerian had both plan & help already and the story he told Kavonn wouldn't fit. Once more he would have to improvise. What they needed now was either a way to distract Kavonn from helping them or a way to divert Kavonn onto his quest for the atler.
The three were talking as was the fox girl. In a moment of stunning wisdom Valerian decided it would be wise to wait and see what they were going to tell Kavonn first and perhaps the problem would solve itself, and then on to the atler.
Of course Valerian did rather wonder if the location of the atler was already recorded why no one had taken advantage of its owner's departure for the after life, but secondly later Valerian was distracted my a shiny object and was unable to finish up this line of thought.

"I'm sorry! I can't control my alter ego you know!" Kcatta began to cry, large tears plopping down all around her, dampening the ground. "I thought you were the bad people and..." Her small body was racked with sobs as all those viewing turned to glare at Valerian. Kavonn said, "Really, you should be more nice to those less fortunate than you! All she did was attempt to defend herslef!..." Kavonn continued to give his lecture, and Kcattah continued to sob.
OOC: does THAT get me some pity points!?

"Well it dosent look like anyone was hurt" Moss said half to himself as he looked off in the direction of the explosion "I think all it did was make a big noise". He turned around to look at the group who were all by now concentrating on the fox girl. He knew the rest of them had stopped talking about the explosion a little while ago but he was irritated by their short attention spans and thought that something had to be said about it even if nobody cared. For all they knew someone could have been hurt and they hardly appeared to notice, but at least the explosion did its job of distracting them.
He looked at the fox girl and sighed, this seemed like it could take some time and he had no intention of talking for very long, he was absolutely no good at being friendly, only at being dramatic and scheming but as he looked at the young fox person he felt sorry for her.... she appeared to be genuinely upset "well theres no reason for anyone to be upset if you arent going to attack each other and no one was hurt" he bowed to the fox girl "I know this is no compensation for your emotions but if you want it you can have this" he held out a gold coin "and if it means anything to you, im not angry with you though I did come into the situation a bit late". He had absolutely no idea if the coin had any worth but he hoped it helped calm her down.
He looked at Kavonn through the corner of his eye, which he had no trouble with because he had no pupils which stopped him from looking suspicous. He could so easily knock the staff from Kavonns hand and smash his own staff into his head, crushing Kavonns skull before he even had a chance to think. He quickly dismissed this thought as he didnt actually have any intention of hurting him unless the fairy gave a really good reason to.
He neaded to get them all to leave each other so that he could talk to the fairy alone but he wasnt technically in a hurry. Even if he himself had to leave he could always catch up to him, he was a pretty good tracker as well as stalker.

"Meh" Valerain shrugged. " Explosions around magic are to be expected."
Valerian had caused more then his fair share of them experimenting with his limited and dysfunctional powers. Often theory didn't transfer smoothly into the field. Valerian was just happy his hair had grown back each time.
Turning toward the small crying cat girl Valerian's heart had not been warmed toward the small creature. Tears were a weapon of women and could not be trusted, unless she was cute in which case it was well worth the risk. Sadly for Shippo Valerian was of the sort that found fur to be a turn off. Valerian fluttered in wings again and paced around Shippo.
"The question is not if we be bad people but what sort of peoples are you?" Valerian told the fox girl. "Can you convince me you are of the nice sort hmmm? I guess we shall see."
Turning suddenly on his heel to do a 180 degree turn Valerian turned to his sudden companions.
"I suggest we split up and examine the market place for supplies and stuff so we can better deal with our problem at hand. No tell what might happen." Valerian announced.

OOC: At the beginning I was trying to avoid using the names of the people that Moss didnt know, even in situations where he was not directly thinking about them, but since it proved more difficult than I suspected im giving it up.
The fairy had evidentally not gotten over his issues with the fox girl, as had not the fox girl he suspected. Moss tossed the coin to kcatta "just take it, I have no use for wealth" he said.
Moss wasnt entirely convinced that magical explosions occured all that often, even in the demon market, although perhaps it wouldnt cause the uproar it would in a human city, he was still surprised at the passiveness that this group had given the occurance. he couldnt remember many occasions that involved explosions back when he used to hang around this area of the demon market, but maybe he was just to drunk to remember. Large areas of his memory were gone from that part of his life and the rest were mainly a blur.
"Yeah that sounds like a good idea" Moss told Valerian "I just dropped by to get some more tobacco". He gave a sidelong glance at Kavonn. He had only spoken to him once but one didnt just go over and start talking to a person, to his understanding just to leave again litteraly seconds later, if anything he was obligated to talk to him longer simply because he had only spoken to him once and he had gone out of his way to speak to him when he didnt have to. What was he going to do now? linger a bit and see what Kavonn did he supposed. He felt sick to his stomach with the nervousness. Oh how he loathed socializing.

Kavonn had been standing amongst the din , completely off of his usual train of thought, while the others talked. Something just didn't feel right, he tended to sense these things at times but often dismissed them as nerves. The explosion had set him on guard, and he suddenly felt as if his surroundings had become foreign. He just stood, eyes scanning from one body to another, trying to figure out what was going on, feeling all the more out of place. Finally, when things seemed to calm a bit, he realized he had been adressed before the explosion. He followed his eyes back to the one who had tossed the coin (which, at the time he had been looking in the Kcattah's direction when the coin had broken his concentration) and of course recognized Moss, whom he had only had the met once (but he seemed to be an individual that you need only glance at once to remember due to his unique appearance) and recalled the last meeting to be fine, so he assumed they were on good terms "Ah," he thought "there is the source of that energy I sensed earlier, I am slightly relieved" Kavonn seemed to have a rather good memory for those who he had met only briefly before. "Ah, Moss! How rude of me not to adress you, I was a tad distracted amongst the madness! How are things with you lately?" and after a tip of his hat he offered a hand to shake, hoping to speak with the being he had found quite interesting in conversation in their previous meeting.

"Oh yes, Kavonn, I nearly forgot you were there in all this confusion" Moss lied "um.. im doing fine, i've been travelling a little but I ended back here in a forest near Kelwood again". He reached out and shook Kavonns hand "um.. I cant think of much else I have been doing, but I did get to see a few strange sights on my journeys" he glanced around himself "uh.. could you fill me in on what happened here?".
Moss tried to remember what he had told Kavonn in their last encounter. If memory served, he didnt think he had given up many of his secrets, he did act in a more demonic manner than he was doing now though. He thought he might have told him a few stories of adventures he had and he told him that he was a traveller, he thought he might have given the impression that he was more impressive than he let on but that was about it as far as he could remember.

Varian shook her head to clear the ringing that the blast had caused. It had taken all her self-control to keep her fur from standing up in shock. Her sharp ears had amplified the sound and momentarily deafened her. Since no one else seemed to be commenting on the explosion, she decided it must be some sort of common occurrence around here. “Nice to meet you all. My name is Varian. If we are going to stand around chatting, could we go somewhere a little quieter?” OOC: Maybe we could start a discussion thread for this story? I'm not quite sure what I should be doing.

Moss turned his attention back to Varian "well I thought we had kind of agreed to go our seperate ways at this point" he said "we have no real reason to stay together at this point, since we were brought together by confict and it dosent appear to have cleared up completely" he wondered if he sounded reasonable or if he was making a fool of himself but since he had gone this far he might as well finish what he was going to say "I might stay and talk with Kavonn for a little bit as we have already spoken with one another and appeared to get along well" that wouldnt go along well in Valerians perspective, as he remembered from the note, it sounded as if Kavonn was the enemy, but there was no going back now so all he could do was hope that his winking was enough. He decided to wrap it up "but I can only foresee further conflict as long as we stay stay together".
Talking with Kavonn might not be such a bad idea actually, he wasnt sure of how faithfull he would be to the little fairy and speaking with the enemy would give him something to think about.

OOC: I'm sooooooooooo soooorrryyyy! i got this one confuzzled with the other RPG and talked for kavonn by accident ;__; im sorry! my character seems to cause mass chaos, and is really quite useless, if someone wanted to kill her, i wouldnt care... that much...
Kcattah looked at Moss with admiration in her eyes, and said, "Thank you! It is so shiny!" She dried her tears and stood up. "uhh, i would like to come too, uhh, wherever you are going!" She gave a smile to everyone (except valerian, who she didnt like). She tucked the coin away in her jacket, and flicked her tail, 'cause that's what fox demons do.

OOC:Moss is kind of arrogant.
Well that worked in exactly the opposite way he was hoping, Moss thought to himself furiously. It appeared that they all were banding together like idiot sheep. Varian had said they should go somewhere more quiet so that they could talk, wihich would have cemented them together as a group and now Kcatta was asking to join as if they were already a group. It was the humanoid instinct to constantly find a group to fit into but Moss hated it. Oh, he had no idea how to handle children and he hadnt the heart to just come out and say no. She had given him a look as if she was specifically asking his permission, as if he were leading the group even though he had come in last. The thought piqued his interest but he didnt think he wanted to play that role, leading was not his specialty.
"Well I do not believe any of us have decided on going anywhere" he said, hoping she would take that answer.

Varian tried to think of some excuse to get Valerian away from the others so they could discuss this quest he wanted her help on. It seemed that the little fox demon had taken a liking to the newcomer, Moss, and that he and Kavonn were acquaintances at the least. Maybe she could pretend to be attracted to Valerian, and get him away from the others. The down side of this plan was that she was really very bad at flirting, having had very little experience with the opposite sex. Well, it wouldn’t kill her to try. She took a deep breath.
“Hey there big boy” Varian purred at Valerian. “Maybe WE should go somewhere more quiet. It could be that we have more than our names in common. Would you like to take a walk with me?”
Varian cringed at just how awful her advances sounded, but hoped that Valerian would see them for what they were: a pretense to be alone.

OOC: I feel as though I rushed my character into the story, what with the assuming that Varian would read the note in front of everybody, I dont know if anyone else noticed that and I thank delta T for going along with it, but im not going to deny how my character originally decided to join the group.
Moss knew instantly what Varian was trying to do. She was trying to lure Valerian away from the rest, and even grimacing at her attempt, he was thankful. It would help his situation a lot. She had however made one mistake, she was not supposed to know his name. He only recalled her learning the fairys name from the letter and since Kavonn had come along with Valerian from before they met Varian, he should find that suspicous. Also, what did she mean by their names sounding alike? He couldnt remember her introducing herself.
He decided not to say anything and keep his focus on Kcatta nad Kavonn. He could not deny that he was somewhat more quick witted then most others and hopefully no one else would notice, if all went well then it would separate the people he could potentially be doing business with, from the people who he had to get rid of, and that would make things a lot easier.

"Well I was going over there to, um, get supplies that we might need or something. So if you would like to come with that would be very nice indeed." Valerian said.
Valerian was rather surprised at the way events were turning, thing had gotten complicated and he wasn't sure quite what to make of all the sudden arrivals. His plans were very simple and liniar so with all the complicatiosn Valerian was more then a little confused at what to do next. The offer to go off alone sounded perfect to Valerian, it was simple and it would give him a chance to figure out how to get things back on track towards the final goal of impressing the Benson's.

OOC: Im going to be gone for a little while, but keep going on with the story and when I get back I will just deal with the situation . Just try and be respetful with Moss while I am away. Get around him and I will catch up or you have my permission to drag him along if you like. I probably wont be able to get my hands on a computer while im away but at the rate this story is going, I should get back before too much happens. If you get into the journey, you can dismiss my character and ill have him track you down again, possibly with a neat little side adventure to explain the length of his abscence or he might just have been spying on you for a while without you guys noticing, he likes to do that. You can even speak a few words for him if you keep it short. So just do as you will and when I get back I will deal with things.

OOC: I was away too, and then I started a new job, so I haven't been around for awhile. We'll muddle through, I guess.
“Alright then, lets go,” said Varian.
She was relieved to be able to get rid of the group so she could talk with her “employer” alone. She was beginning to wonder if she should have agreed so quickly. It seemed that there were strange under currents within this group, and she didn’t feel comfortable not knowing exactly what was going on. The little creature called Moss particularly worried her. He seemed shifty.... she wondered if he had a hidden agenda. He smelled as if he was hiding something.
Well, maybe Valerian knew something about him. She bent down and put her paw on the fairy’s arm. “What type of supplies are you looking for?” she said as she led him away from the others.
